  • I agree that you should kook at all grains. Read "Wheat Belly: Total Health" and it will discuss why that is important and some tips for when the weight won't come off. I believe you are right on track being aware that calories and exercise to maintain/improve muscle mass are important. Good luck!
  • I am starting at 205 with goal of 135. Your pictures encouraged me! Keep it up as a lifestyle!
  • I would vary your distances in the pool. You are going to want to train over the distance that you will be swimming in the tri. I would do some ladders: 200-300-400-300-200 meters with short (30 seconds) rest in between. Play around with your pace- practice building the speed of each swim, holding a certain pace, and…
  • Make sure that you are stretching your IT band, using the foam roll as someone else recommended, "The Stick" massager, or a rolling pin to work on loosening up the outside of your thigh. You may also want to shorten your stride slightly, as it decreases the friction of the IT band at the outside of the knee. Ice when you…
  • I am going to give up pop. That will be a tough one for me, but Lent will give me the motivation. I am Protestant, but all for putting God at the front of my mind by giving up something I typically indulge in DAILY.
  • Stretch your foot and calf every morning before getting out of bed and after sitting for any period of time (stretch by either just pulling your toes up toward your nose with a straight leg, or using a towel/belt around the ball of your foot and pulling your foot up toward your nose). The suggestions about rolling your…
  • I am walking on the treadmill and have started Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred. I have lifted a few weights, but right now trying to establish a routine again. Pam
  • I didn't read the article, but as a physical therapist I can tell you that the length of your muscles may be affected if you don't work through your full range of motion of a muscle and if you don't stretch.
  • Excellent point with a great reminder. Sometimes we work so hard at getting one foot in front of the other that we forget to look where we are going and where we have been!
  • That's great! Hard to keep up with the routine when traveling. I would like to lose 50-55 lbs. I lost 40 pounds on WW 11 years ago and kept it off for many years. Then being a mom and eating what my daughter didn't finish, along with some life stress, pushed me back up the scale and beyond anywhere I had been before. I…
  • Sounds like we all have a lot in common! Let's be there for each other so we can LOSE together!
  • So how is it going? Are you being strong? So far so good here. I feel like I am making important changes.
  • In the last 12 days I have lost 8+ pounds, having been tracking every day, and exercising regularly. I am starting to feel some internal strength that I CAN be successful. We CAN do this!
  • Love your story! Keep it up!
  • Tia~ I am surprised you don't like them and imagine that you have tried everything that I have. My only suggestions, maybe try vanilla almond milk, and frozen fruit. But avoid pineapple or really acidic fruit as that seems to make the shakes separate. I like frozen raspberries and blueberries best. I really don't like the…
  • I would like to keep my eating within 8 hours...but that would be tricky for me. Might be something fun to strive for. I know that calories are calories, but I find if I eat carbs too late I get night sweats. My endocrinologist helped me to figure that one out. That is some motivation for me to stop earlier at night!…
  • This looks to be where the fun people are. New to MFP and getting back in the workout groove. I was an athlete through college and then gradually slowed down...almost to a stop once my daughter was born. She is now 10 and I want to show her that being active is a fun lifestyle. I am looking for the place and people who can…
  • Awesome job! You look great! Hang tough and you will have a great birthday!
  • Hello! I will be 43 in February and am the mother of a 10 year old daughter. Before she was born I lost 40+ pounds and was at my best weight ever. I stayed healthy and at a healthy weight until the last 5-6 years. With cleaning her plate and trying to balance being a working mom and a mom that gets her to her activities, I…
