  • I went gluten free in April and started playing with paleo about 3-4 weeks ago - it's very hard to change the mindset about our foods since paleo is full fat on! :) I do like it though and on the days I consistently eat paleo I feel 100x better than the days I don't (still gotta have my gluten free bread once in a while).…
  • I've also heard of frozen hamburger patties being used for hockey pucks during slow times...need I say more?
  • My issue is making time to get to the gym - so I youtube everything - Jillian Michaels 30 day shred is a great place to start, there's also banish fat boost metabolism and I even found a persian zumba routine on there that I like. When all else fails agree with aeverson2 - turn up that music and dance (latin music is great…
  • love this! Gives me hope! :drinker:

  • for everyone that commented thank you so so much - you truly made my day today! :flowerforyou:
  • Congrats to you on all accounts!
  • I LOVE SOCK MONKEYS!!! Had one growing up that I called Chris - years later I ended up naming my son Chris  AND CONGRATS TO YOU TO ON YOUR SURVIVAL!! :flowerforyou:
  • I'm doing the same thing - I eat as clean as possible (still have the occasional splurge on something I shouldn't) - but I figure the healthier I eat and the more exercise I get will keep me strong to battle the next blip on the screen whatever that may be!
  • Yes - those call backs are nerve wrecking - I think I had so many over the years that I got "used to it" - so didn't really think about it the last time. And thanks for the piggy back PSA!
  • Actually you are our HERO! Thank you for running!!! Running has never been my "thang" either but I recently started a C25K workout - I love the running - unfortunately my knees don't! LOL
  • Thanks again everyone for your kind words - you are making this day even better! :flowerforyou:
  • I remember when I was first diagnosed all I could think was - GET THIS STUFF OUT OF ME! I felt like my body had been invaded by aliens or something.
  • WAY TO GO and KEEP IT UP!
  • Hope your results come out ok - keep me posted. Best decision EVER having the double - no more mammograms!
  • That's good to hear, and spread the word - I hope it turns out well!
  • Congrats to you! 18 is way too young and yes, it is a hard road but you appreciate things and people all the much more after coming through it!
  • Thank you all for your kind words (I honestly didn't know if anyone would read this). And to all you other survivors on here - my "ordeal" was nothing compared to what some of you or your family members may have been through. We all find an inner strength we don't know we posses until we are faced with the possibility of…
  • I used to be (and sometimes still am) and emotional eater. Just a few ideas for you that have worked for me. 1. Have you tried Crystal Light or Mio for flavored water - they are low in calories and you're still getting your water intake 2. I log everything I plan to eat for the entire day first thing in the morning - that…
  • You also need to remember that as you exercise you are building muscle. So even if you're not seeing the loss on the scale, you are toning your body. If you haven't already, I would suggest taking your measurements and track those in addition to your weight loss. Your weight isn't just a number on a scale, it's about how…
  • I'm not allergic to wheat or gluten, but made a decision that starting Monday I'm going to TRY and eliminate the wheat and gluten from my diet to see if I feel better. I eat pretty clean, but LOVE bread which is why I feel my weight loss is slow. Feel free to add me and we can try this together!
  • Washing in 1 part vinegar (apple cider or white) to 3 parts water - just water will not wash away the chemicals/wax. I just fill a bowl and dip my veggies/fruit in then rinse with water and dry.
  • I do the same thing - sugar from fruits is digested more quickly and turned to energy vs processed sugars from sodas, candy, etc.
  • I'm also doing Jillian and just started a C25K workout - I love it!
  • I almost walked out of a pair of shoes today! So apparently my feet are shrinking and I no longer have cankles!
  • There is also a group on MFP called LNS Group (Late Night Snackers) - you hold yourself accountable for what you eat and whether or not you snacked or not. You may want to check it out. It's a struggle but old habits can be replaced by new ones.
  • A lots of great ideas on here! Also here's a link to 55 healthy snacks under 200 calories. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_articles.asp?id=1792
  • Well said - I feel the same way!
  • I actually checked around a few websites when I first started and the counts seem to be the normal recommended daily allowances for a 1200 calorie diet. But I agree - when you eat a lot of fresh fruit - impossible to stay under on the sugars. I've had a few bad days on sodium, but usually that's not an issue for me. Go…

  • Thanks for posting this, I was getting ready to post the same thing. I have read in other posts that natural sugars from fruit convert to carbs and someone said they deducted them from their daily sugar count because it's really the processed sugar that counts - but I really have no idea if this is right or wrong.…

  • Feel free to add me - I'm older - but age is just a number. I'm 5'7" and looking to lose around 80 lbs. So I figure the more support/accountability the better.
