I was going to say the same thing. Our vet was very clear, no distance running until they're at least 6 months old. Dogs running by themselves is quite different to being forced to jog alongside, so the caution is justified.

I'm 5'6". My heaviest weight was around 175lb and I thought I was causing minor earthquakes in my local neighbourhoods when I tried to run at that weight. I hated it and my knees hated it. Now back at 155lb it's betting better but I still don't find it comfortable. My happy running weight is around or below 130lb.

Were your sprints open water or pool swims? Got a wettie yet? :)

That was my midlife crisis. Sometimes I think I should have just bought a sports car. ;-)

Anyway, back on subject... Welcome to triathlon. I found it a very welcoming culture in general where even those who were very serious were still supportive to newbies and the back of the pack. I started in 2007 and did Ironman Switzerland in 2010. I had to give it up in 2013 when my mum needed care with COPD. She passed…

I know... he's just spammed God knows how many threads with passive aggressive opinions... Probably having a bad day at work...

So what are you good at?

American College of Sports Medicine pitches HIIT efforts at 80% not 95%. https://www.acsm.org/docs/brochures/high-intensity-interval-training.pdf

Hi. I'm 45 and in the UK. Gained some weight when caring for parents and post-bereavement, but doing well again since January with 21lb gone out of 45lb I'd like to lose, so halfway there. I don't do anything complicated, just calories in/out and some walking, some cycling, a bit of strength training etc. You're welcome to…

Hello Emma. Sadly my father lost his battle with cancer last July and I also experienced some depression (before and after) and gained some weight during that time. I also lost my mum late 2013. It's hard to put yourself first sometimes. You're most welcome to ping me a FR if you like.
-
That must have given you a real fright. Welcome to MFP and you're welcome to ping me a FR if you like. :)
-
I'm confused. What do you mean by "homework"? And what if I don't want to lose 2lb a week (not actually all that realistic for smaller people or those with less to lose).

Sister by another Mister. ;) Kara is 5 too. :)

The issue here is we're not talking just about weight training we're talking about exercise load per se. You know nothing about the OPs base level of strength or fitness. As a consequence you're not really in a position to determine whether what she is presently doing is doing too much too soon or not.
-
Running doesn't qualify as training now?
-
And surely "overtraining" is all relative to ones base fitness level. If she comes to this routine from a completely sedentary background she is more likely to require rest than someone doing this routine coming from a strong strength and fitness base.

My girl has 4 white short socks, a white chest and a white tail tip. :)
-
Why are you not factoring in any rest days? There should be one rest day at the very least. I've trained for an Ironman triathlon doing 15+ hours of training a week and didn't wear myself out, but I had rest days.

Another vote for Ebay here. I sell stuff I shrink out of and put that money towards used stuff in familiar brands which I know will fit. When I get to my goal weight I might then treat myself to a new wardrobe.

I'm 45 and dropped 21lb since January doing nothing other than counting calories and being a bit more active. Calorie counting isn't tricky. It's very simple. You weigh / measure everything that goes in your mouth and log it. You don't have to have breakfast either. "Breakfast like a king, dinner like a pauper" is a MYTH.…

Slow down and repeat the first week until you're comfortably ready to move on. If you're barely coping with 60 secs, Week 2 are 90 sec run intervals and it sounds like you're not ready yet.

Welcome and well done. It's great to start so well. Just please don't be disillusioned when this pace of loss does not carry on. Initial loss is usually a water whoosh. Unless you are morbidly obese, which judging from your weight you're not, you'll soon have to be happy with losses around 1-2lb a week. Just be patient…

@cramermomma15 - I think we have twin dogs!!

She's beautiful. :)

What most people do, if they genuinely want to help others, is that they involve themselves in the plethora of threads where people ask for assistance, rather than use their first post to puff themselves up as some kind of "ask me anything" expert based on the fact that they read some magazines and watched some You Tube…
-
You changed your first post in its entirety too. Wish I'd used the quote function earlier now.
-
Out of curiosity... Why did you change the title of the post?
-
I'm doing the "calorie deficit diet". I lost 4" off my waist since January. #notrocketscience
-
My first question would be, what qualifies you to do so?

@kbs52582 -- how lovely!!! We had no snow this winter at all. :(
