  • I stuck with it for a year and lost about 40 lbs. The key is "sticking with it". Count everything and don't go over your daily limit. If you get lax and either don't count everything or creep up past your daily caloric limit too often, you'll not succeed.
  • Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. Horrible. Not in the spirit at all.
  • Best post on here ever.
  • I log everything every day--even if I overeat. I am obsessed with looking at my statistics.
  • My wife and I live in Columbus and I work for OSU.
  • I started January 2nd at 272 lbs and set a goal of 2,000 per day but tried at first to stay closer to 1,500. I kept close track and wasn't exercising. I have lost about 35 lbs and am now doing 2,000 per day, still keeping track, but go over my 2,000 alot. I think obviously under 1,000 is not enough. Maybe for a few weeks…
  • You sound sarcastic.

  • I have lost 30+ lbs in six months and have not given up beer. I admit I drink Natty Light alot, but it's still beer. Beck's Light tastes good, too, and is 64 calories. Some of the other lights don't taste so good. I actually like Natural Light and Beck's is good (just more expensive).
  • The FIRST FWP is complaining in general.
  • I had an annual appointment with my sleep doctor (I have sleep apnea) on December 31st. I meet with him once a year now. I weighed 276 and he (again) told me that it'd help with my apnea if I lost weight. I found MFP the next day and decided it was time to try it. I was able to stick with it and lost 30+ lbs since January…
  • Yeah, I don't exactly "cheat" but some days I go over the calorie limit I set for myself. I always count everything anyhow. I just try to not do that too often. You know, you go out to dinner, have a few drinks sometimes, or just snack too much in the evening. I think it helps keep you sane. If you can stick to your…

  • Still hanging in! MFP works for me so far.

  • Eat the pizza, count it in your calories, don't worry about it. Do good tomorrow!
  • It's tough to not snack for me. Going to bed is the best solution sometimes. If I can convince myself to slice up two apples, that sometimes takes care of it in a low calorie way. Or, I will make a single serving microwave popcorn or two. Both are pretty low calorie and I can get away with it. But if I go off the deep end…
  • Don't laugh. Natural Light.
  • You can do it! It's been tough for me but it's been about 105 days and I've lost about 30 lbs. The first four weeks were easier for some reason. The last few I've been struggling to stay on track. I still count EVERYTHING. I like that I can scan the bar code with the app on my iPhone and also can find just about anything I…
  • I am 58. I am 5'11". My highest weight was 276. My current weight is 242. My lowest weight in the past 30 years was probably 198. I tell myself my goal is 225, but 200 would be nice.
  • Everyone has the "right" to complain all you want about anything. People also have the right to get annoyed at those who overdo it. So it's really not about telling people they can't whine or complain about any little thing, it's just whether or not anyone will listen or care. It's like the boy who whined wolf. Also,…
  • I take Centrum Silver Men 50+ and a low dose aspirin. I've found I remember it better now that I mark it down in my Food Log under Vitamins.
  • We get wrapped up in our own little "problems". The fact that there are so many obese Americans who struggle to lose weight by diet and/or exercise is certainly what some call a "First World Probem". We add alot of drama to these issues. Eating too much and not exercising or being active is not good for our health but It…
  • I agree. It's a personal choice and for some people and a very private thing regarding their weight management. Probably the 2/3s who have private diaries would quit MFP if it had to be public. It's probably more helpful to read those who are comfortable sharing only. I guess we should just respect people's privacy.
