  • Shop the outside aisles (if that's the only thing I can tell them, at least I know they are bringing clean foods into their house)
  • I don't have the energy to read this whole thread, but I could lose 2 lbs a week if I eat 1800 calories and do no exercise. There's no magic formula. You weigh more, you need more to maintain and more to burn. If you are eating 1800 and not exercising and losing weight, you're probably just eating about 1000 less than your…
  • Well thank goodness, cause I gotta get to a cardio strike class where I won't be building any muscle.
  • And even with 2500, my burn ends up being 4000+ every day, so yeah I lose a lot but I'm not going to shove 2 lbs a chicken breast into myself just because some calculator tells me to. If I'm full, I'm full.
  • I have a bmf and a polar ft60 - and they both calculate my exercise burn within probably 50 calories of each other after an hour. I think that's pretty good. And it can go either way (one can be higher one time, the other a different time). I only wear my hrm now if I actually want to know my hr.
  • I don't think you understand what you are saying. You say that there's no way I'm actually building new muscle, and then you say that aside from newbie gains you don't build muscle. I'm a newbie, so what are yous saying? Did I or did I not build my newbie muscle? I can guarantee that muscle was not built before, and that I…
  • I can't stand a lot of excuses now that I'm on the right path, and they are all the ones I used to make. No time, no money, too hard, feel like I don't fit in, etc. The worst though is "I'll start on Monday." NO! Start today. There's no better time to start than right now. You might slip up here or there, but waiting til…
  • Exactly. I'm eating a deficit, and right now I'm losing 2-4 lbs a week and my muscle is getting ripped. I'm so much stronger today than I was 2 months ago. At work, where I lift people all day long (as a nurse) even the clients can tell how much stronger I've gotten. So yes, fat people, extremely obese people like me, can…
  • Radioactive by Imagine Dragons for pumping me up/lifting
  • You really should talk to a nutritionist about breastfeeding and trying to lose weight, or at least make sure you are involved with LLL. If you try to cut calories, you can cut very important things out of your breastmilk like calcium, other nutrients, fat, and most importantly quantity. I was never able to really diet…
  • Daily weigher here, and only record on Wednesday. I know tomorrow I might be up because I literally just ate an ahi tuna steak salted to perfection (it was awesome), healthy choice, high in sodium. This morning I was down 3.6 lbs from last week, so tomorrow it might only be 1-2 and whatever. I know I'm on the right track.
  • I had a heart rate monitor for about a month and I really, really loved it - still have it, but then I bought the bodymedia fit (120 on costco with a year membership) and I wouldn't go back. I love this thing.
  • It depends on what you are really wanting to accomplish. For me, the price of a trainer is so much cheaper than bariatric surgery. Do research on the type of trainer you want, they are not all the same and make sure it's what you really want. I love my trainer, and I would be happy to pay for a session with him for once a…
  • All I can say is check out my profile pic, I'm doing both, yeah I'm fat as hell, I've got 100 lbs more to lose, but my arms are getting stacked on top, my butt is higher, and I'm losing weight like a boss while building muscle. Now I'm not a fan of how the biggest loser works, but the reason that those people lose so much…
  • I can't imagine a man eating 1500 calories on his last 5 lbs to lose, who doesn't exercise at all. You need to up those calories big time, and eat what you burn. You should NOT be shaking with hunger!!!
  • I LOVE mine. I got it a week ago, and weighed in yesterday and lost 4.8 lbs. Just sayin... (ok I also started seeing a trainer then too). It makes me move more, it's fun to see the burn. I've been having random dance parties with my children. I would recommend if you have a costco membership getting it there. It's 120 but…
  • You are an F*ing rockstar!
  • I'm 50% fat, on the dot (yay...), and I'm following about a 30% deficit. I actually have a bodymedia fit, and I'm eating a 1500 cal deficit which is a little above my 30 since I exercise a lot and average a 4000 burn.
  • Posting Marc's before and after for him. He's freakin awesome people! (hopefully this works)
  • Yes, the healthy range is 20-25
  • It's not completely off base as a measurement of standard, but it is because it's not for everyone. BF% is a good standard, but so is saying someone is morbidly obese. There's no getting around the fact that morbidly obese is not good. Lots of people like to excuse their BMI by saying that it doesn't fit them because of…
  • Feel free to add me. I'm 25 lbs into a 125 lb loss journey. I'm very much enjoying my new found love for fitness, pushingmyself, dancing, lifting, and eating a whole, healthy diet. Welcome to the game!
  • Yes I'm doing it. My butt looks better, I have more strenght, more endurance, and I'm losing weight consistantly every week. It's worth it.
  • You just have to do some research in your area, each area is different. We go to the Y, and they have a huge climbing structure for kids 3+, a small one for 2+. To go to a seperate place with one of those climbing structures costs me $5 a child each time. So I get to put my kids in child care and they get to go play and…
  • Your before and current pic are great. WTG!
  • Definitely jump in- I started in January and I've lost probably about 24 lbs now, and a few inches off my waist and hips, and I'm 260 lbs. If I can do it, you can do it! And nobody watches you, they just watch the instructor. It's a lot of fun.
  • Definitely weights first then cardio, although you might want to do a 5-10 minute warmup on a treadmill to get your muscles ready. I don't know if I would say slow cardio. How often are you going to do it. If you go 3 days a week and you are doing everything at ones, I would do a HIIT and make it count. Otherwise I would…
  • It's up to you, but if you have 136 lbs to lose, you will see the difference, and how much more devastating would it be to go 1-2 months and then realize you lost nothing? so I think it's safe to weigh, you just need to get into the right mindset and understand that tom and sodium levels, weight lifting and bowel…
