  • Cut off the tops and roots, peel. Then chunk up and steam until tender. Very, very tasty with a light cheese sauce.
  • Wow! You are an inspiration. The inches are so visable. Excellent job!
  • I agree that you should find something you like and that will make a difference. That said, here are some other thoughts: 1. Blood sugar got too low? Did you fuel up b4 the workout. One of the symptoms of low blood sugar is what looks like sadness, then anger. As an EMT, we are taught that with sudden explosive or…
  • I can see in your picture that you are very beautiful. Your family is telling the truth. Believe it.
  • I wouldn't call that failing. You sound successful to me. I would guess the hydration and food thing. Maybe you need to eat more b4 your run and bring along water to be sure you stay hydrated. Yes, this has happened to me.
  • Okay, I am a very naughty person. I love wine and I love fatty food. I've decided that i have will power in the mornings, so I take it easy until lunch. Then at lunch, I go to the gym. I try to burn at least 750 calories on the elliptical. Then I can use those calories for the rest of the day. Usually, i can't eat much…
  • I love wine! So...over lunch, I go to my local exercise place and use the elliptical. I can't have the wine until AFTER I earn the calories. Works great and acts as a great motivator. Also, the exercise decreases my appetite. I eat a lot of soup for lunch. It's filling and stays with me. I also make a plate of sliced…
  • I TOTALLY GET IT!!!! This morning, I noticed that I can see just the bend in my collar bone. I can't wait until I can see the whole thing. It's little stuff like this that keeps the motivation going.
  • I agree...sounds like water weight to me.
  • Wow...watched the first two. So sticking with my plan. That is majorly frightening!
  • Using isometrics is a great idea! If you want "weights" fill an old milk jug with water for upper body workouts. Lower body try filling canvas sacks with sand, sew them up and use velcro to attach.
  • I'm so glad you posted. I checked mine too and I am also just plain ol' overweight now too. You're right, it does feel good.
  • Zyban finally worked for me. I take Buprion, which is Zyban by a different name. I ran out one month and went several weeks without my medication. When I went back on the Buprion, about a week later, I forgot to buy cigarettes. Then I just decided that since I was training for a marathon in September, it would be good to…
  • Check out your stride to see if you are under pronating (or over pronating). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foot_type The test for it is called the wet foot test and is described at the bottom of the article. I used this to find the right shoe for me. Made a HUGE difference in the bone and muscle pain I was experiencing.…
  • Kind of in the same boat too, but I was trained in college as a track coach. I was having a LOT of pain in my lower legs on the outside and discovered I under pronate. Turns out, there's a shoe for that and they don't need to be expensive. Point being, listen to your legs, if you have pain that seems to be in the joints or…
  • Cool! That's amazing and inspiring. I'll bet your wife appreciates the new you too!
  • Texas Caviar is a mix of black beans, corn, black eyed peas, cilantro and pico de gallo...so good, so fresh...
  • Eat a good breakfast first. I generally have 2 slices delightful bread toasted with an egg cooked with a tbs. of salsa and a slice of cheese. Then a cup of coffee. If I still want it, then I can just have a little and feel satisfied.

  • The fries in a kid's meal! Crazzzzzzzyyyyyyy!!!!! The burger actually isn't too bad and is worth the calories occasionally, but the fries (sobbing in the background)... I love McDonald's fries, there's nothing like them (sob). I had a kid's meal last night with the apple dippers and it wasn't too bad (sniffle), still…
  • Oh man! There are so many I've found recently... Chicken Chile (amazing), vegetarian baked spring rolls, chocolate angel food with a mousse made from fat free cool whip and sugar/fat free pudding, Texas Caviar, ... Prevention/Roudale has bunch of good ones and so does allrecipes.com. I'll see if I can figure out how to…
  • YES!!! In spades. I went about 2-2.5 weeks with no weight loss. I work out between 3-6 days per week at least 1 hour per day, etc., etc. and kept under my calories. ARGH!!!! I finally did have a few lbs. come off this last week, so it seemed to resolve itself. I came across another post awhile back about this, but now I…
  • A couple of questions: 1. Right at the knee or just below? 2. Inside of the knee (toward the midline of the body) or outside of the knee? 3. Would you describe it as a burn or an ache? 4. Does the pain feel like it's in the muscle, the bone, or inside the joint? 5. If you start walking, does the pain stop right away? 6.…
  • The Biggest Loser workout CD has 1 hours worth of music with a perfect beat count to keep up speed and heartrate. I was bummed when I tried to listen to it in my vehicle after I first purchased, but working out to it is just heaven.
  • Just great! Now I'm hungry for green beans and I can only get frozen or canned at my little grocery store. What's a girl to do? Does it work with frozen beans?
  • Toss with a little olive oil, maybe a tsp, add a little salt and pepper. Put just a few almonds in a frying pan also tossed with olive oil, just a little. Cook the beans and almonds just until they are crisp tender...also works with walnuts.
  • A couple of things: 1. I agree about the exercise. It really makes a huge difference in what I can eat and how satisfied I feel. 2. I try to eat about 250-300 calories per meal until I get my exercise for the day, so I know I have enough for dinner. 3. I choose items or recipes, then I try to find lower calorie versions on…
  • That is so great! What a wonderful idea. I want you as a neighbor!
  • Living in Minnesota, I can relate. After my home treadmill died (I had it at my office and worked out there). I joined a local gym and run there. It's nice to work out indoors too.
