Our veg box arrived this morning, and we have a kohl rabi

Any suggestions for how to cook it and what with?

I peel them, slice and put in salad (like a radish). Some times I slice and salt and eat that way. Kohl rabi is basically a cross between radish and a turnip.
  • Cut off the tops and roots, peel. Then chunk up and steam until tender. Very, very tasty with a light cheese sauce.

    oooh, just found this recipe

Braised Kohlrabi with Garlic and Parmesan

Serves 2 as a side dish

    1 teaspoon butter
1 kohlrabi, peeled and cut into thin strips
    1 teaspoon minced garlic
200 ml chicken or vegetable stock
    Salt and pepper to taste
    Freshly grated Parmesan

Heat the butter in a frying pan over a medium heat. Add the Kohlrabi and garlic and sauté them for about 3 minutes. Add the stock, bring it to the boil. Cover the pan, turn down the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the kohlrabi is tender. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and serve sprinkled with Parmesan.
