  • Personally, I'd rather have a big cup of blueberries for a snack than half an avocado, for half the calories and none of the fat. I understand it's better than eating straight lard, I just don't see the great value in it when added up against other foods.
  • Ooh, nice idea! Unfortunately I can't play, as I have a PS3, but I might steal your idea and do the same...
  • You look great! I do like the long-term success stories, because as much as I'd like to be in shape NOW, it's more realistic to be patient. Thanks for reminding me again of this importance. Along with looking great, I love the dress itself!
  • You are only going to die of too much water if you aren't replacing lost electrolytes. So if you are an athlete, performing at a very high level of intensity, you need to replace not just the volume of water you sweat out, but also the electrolytes. If you are eating regularly along with drinking water, you should be fine.…
  • There isn't a tablespoon of oil left after cooking is there? No, it gets absorbed into the food more often than not, which is why you count it. Use a oil sprayer if you think it's too much by the tablespoon. A spritz is much less.
  • Day 9 done! Took much longer as the kids were around to get in the way, eject the DVD, need help, etc etc. But it's done!
  • Good luck!
  • It wasn't the calories so much, but when I found out that if you have the same serving amount (meaning the weight) of corn flakes, Lay's chips and Doritos, the corn flakes have the most sodium!! Don't believe it? Check for yourself: Kellogg's Corn Flakes: http://www.kelloggs.com/en_US/kelloggs-corn-flakes-cereal.html…
  • Here's mine: http://pinterest.com/showem/healthy-food/ Some of the recipes under http://pinterest.com/showem/family-food/ aren't too bad, or you could do a few simple adaptations to make them more healthy (eg less cheese). Just stay away from my luxury food board!
  • Chicken breast with a tomato based spaghetti sauce, pasta and green salad. Just watch the portion on the pasta and this should easily fit under 700 calories.
  • It took me less than a week on MFP before I upped mine from 1330 to 1550. Way more energy and still losing weight. Seems to work best for me that way too.
  • Just use agave in any recipe that calls for honey. Nice idea with the sprouts, thanks.
  • I find on my scales, if I lean forward or back, the number can change quite dramatically. So now I step on the scale, try and balance my weight evenly on my feet and look forward. I only look down once the number is set. This seems to give the most consistent reading.
  • As OP, I approve of this hijack.
  • Ah, sorry, not about any bane other than the general noun. <Forum newbie with no idea who the person Bane is>
  • Don't need a remote if you don't have cable, definitely.
  • Where I used to live, I knew where to find wild garlic (aka ramsons) to collect. That's one of my favourite things to have when I can find it in the spring. I would make it into a pesto and have it on everything.
  • Bump for a different time and a different crowd.
  • The pool and swimming ideas are good ones. I worked at different pools in different countries for over 10 years, so it's a bit like going to work for me! I suppose I could do it, but it's not really my first choice.
  • Yes, back when I was a gym member, the leg press machine was not my friend unless it had a very light weight on it. What do you do to work those leg muscles instead?
  • I'm falling behind as I'm currently taking a rest day between each workout, simply to give my old knees a chance to recover each time. But I'm still hanging in there and just finished Day 8 today!
  • Hi and welcome to MFP. I'm only new here myself, but have found it very useful. Do you know there's a recipe calorie calculator on here? You can just input the ingredients of your recipes, say how many servings it makes and then it will tell you how many calories you are eating. Go to the food tab, then click to make an…
  • I've just crawled below 180, am currently 174 (79kg) and am definitely trying to get fitter along with losing weight. I've upped my exercise a lot since the start of this year along with tracking calories. Always happy to cheerlead and more cheerleaders for myself too.
  • I find it a lot easier to say "no" than to say "stop". Meaning I can usually resist most things on a tempting evening, but I can't just have a couple of bites and then resist having any more. So for example, I was out a couple of weeks ago with friends with our kids and they ordered some garlic bread for the table. I…
  • Actually, she gave you good advice, as that links to a topic on the same issue with three pages of advice attached to it.
  • I just started a couple of weeks ago and the same thing happened to me. Change in diet would be the cause, whether less fat or just less calories, I didn't go for a couple of days and I still am not back to everyday. As long as you are hydrated, things will come when they are ready and it shouldn't be a problem when it…
  • Day 7 completed by me! Yay us!
  • That is fantastic to read! So good to read it has helped with unexpected areas of your health and good for you for keeping the weight off during a busy time in your life. Very motivating!
  • I don't have a specific recommendation of brand for you, but I can say that it often helps to go down a number size and up a cup size to keep things in place. It should feel very snug below your breasts, although not so snug you can't breathe!
  • Briefs for me, tight boxers on a guy. Favourite hot and favourite cold beverages?
