This is a great way to look at it! While I am still "up" about a pound from Christmas Eve, I am 7 down from Thanksgiving. To have lost anything during a time when most are putting weight on is something to celebrate.

...And you know what I miss about Jersey, especially during the holidays? Wonderful fattening diner food at all hours. Omelettes with homefries, fries with gravy, gyros, I could go on, but the drool may begin to pool in my lap.

I've been tracking my pants sizes. I am 5'7" and here are my sizes at each weight (I carry extra weight in the hips/thighs): 188: Size 16 176: Size 14 164: Size 12 157 (current): Still in 12s, but may be ready for a 10 around 150. So I guess for me it's time for a size shift around every 12 pounds...

I agree with you - it's not rational. But sometimes cravings aren't. As astrose says, for some things (candy, baked goods, peanut butter filled pretzels) one serving leads to way-more-than-one 9 out of 10 times. Thankfully, there are few slippery slope foods on my list in the grand scheme of things.
