I weight about the same as you and only try to lose a pound a week. I know I am going to eat more in the evening and plan for that. Last Friday I knew I was going to have pizza. I figured out how many I wanted and ate lighter during the day. I was still under my calories for the day and has a small bedtime snack. I eat…

[/quote] You're so right. For me, it sums up to getting rid of every pound that kicks me out of the normal bmi group. I also have two health-related goals: to find a solution to my problem with two chronic conditions. I've seen many doctors so far and nobody has helped , and it seems to me that I probably need to invest…

for meals I pre-plan 3-4 meals when I grocery shop and then on Sunday I often pre-prep those meals. so they are started and just need some finish cooking. Like if I want a beef stew I will cook the beef for an hour, peel and cup up the carrots put those in a container ect. When I go to cook it I add the cut up veggies peal…

You have what I would call a very interesting job, anything in oncology is stressful. Good luck with your sleeve. I have a friend that has had great luck with it, just remember you have to change your head too. But you can do it!

I would like to be able to hike again. I want to strengthen my endurance that has gotten so bad over the last few years. If I can start to move again it will help with my weight loss.

I track calories and when I start exercise I will track that too. If it goes in my mouth I log it.

I have worn street clothes but when I get off from medical leave I will be wearing red scrubs. The Oncology team color is red.

I have worked in many areas of the medical field for around 35 years except the times that I stayed home with the kids. I found my true calling in the oncology field as a patient navigator. I am a long time cancer survivor myself and that is when some of my weight issues started. But working in a building with as much food…

Oncology RN that works as a patient navigator 5 days a week. Nice to see so many Oncology nurses here. We eat like tomorrow is never going to come

I would love it with some shrimp, I want to try this thanks for sharing. There are so many variations including no meat and just veggies too. YUM!

Oncology nurse here and we have more food in our building than a grocery store. We all stress eat I thing. I am up for a support group and I want to drop about 25 pounds or so.

I always have a small snack at night and allow for it something as simple as a half a cup of skim milk and a few crackers. It helps me sleep and I don't wake up with my tummy burning in the middle of the night.

This post is spot on! I would also like to add binge eating can be a form of compulsiveness or anxiety, eating is a way to calm the anxiety. I like to deal with anxiety by doing something that lets me get control of my environment like folding clothes in my drawers organizing my book cases. I now don't feel the need to…

Also some people know they are going to eat more for what ever reason and so they try to exercise more to preventive wt gain. When I hike several miles it burn lots of calories and I really need to eat a bit more.

There is a reason that hypertension is call the silent killer because you feel OK and then you have a stroke. Most people can not make enough long term life style changes to prevent the need for medication.

The Mr. Bento Box is a great way to take food to work and keep it hot or cold. Crock pot makes a lunch pot that you plug in to keep your food warm. I love soups and whole grain salads with veggies and lemon and olive oil dressing.

dandelion root or leaves in the herbal world is good to stimulate your kidneys in other word make you pee and it is also good for the colon. I do love fiddle head ferns cooked in a bit of butter. My grand parents swore by eating greens in the spring and both on grandmothers lived into their 90's. later in the year they are…

I think everyone is different some can eyeball and be accurate and some cannot. I use cups for dry things like cereal, oats, flour, scales for meat but I can be pretty accurate with a guess. I have estimated what a cup or ounce looks like then weighed or measured it and I was surprisingly close. What works for you is what…

Gabapentin is know to cause weight gain it also can cause you to feel hungry. But the drug works.

you could also keep a large bag of cut up veggies in the fridge. You get hungry you can munch to your stomach's delight. Don't be afraid to eat the health stuff. Cancer treatment can play with your metabolism. I have had weight issues due to lots of chemo. I also work in the cancer field. Eating is OK just eat good stuff…

I eat for pleasure. I love a wonderful roasted chicken rubbed with herbs and roasted vegetables. There are so many ways to make ordinary foods taste good without adding calories. If you never allow for pleasure in food you will fall off the wagon and over eat.

I just wanted to say this is a great post with lots of positive responses. I think for me and my pain is to just keep moving. I went from barley able to walk a flight of stairs to 6 miles at a time. Now I have a lung issue and am having to work my way back up but when you have pain and can't breath it is hard to do so I…

It may be more psychological associating meat with the nausea of pregnancy. Hypnotherapy works well this those sort of issues. My husband has worked with patient that have real food aversions and it has worked will when the patient wanted to get over them

I love pasta and would rather have a weight problem than give it up but I cook 3 ounces per person and serve that amount it is 300 calories. I make simple sauces with with tomatoes, carrots, celery, garlic and onion. The sauce has vitamins, fiber and lots of taste with minimal calories. So enjoy and learn to handle trigger…

Butter and olive oil but all in moderation. Fat is a needed in the body just too much is bad for you. We became fatter the more low fat we ate. I don't fry foods however

Exactly! My Italian dad was very thin. 1 ounce of pasta = 100 cal. It is what you put on top and how much that is unhealthy
