If there is one available to you a membership store like Costco can stretch your dollars further. Their prices for chicken and other meats don't get much better.

Have you ever experimented with NOT drinking any diet soda? Are you ever curious as to whether or not your overall health would be better (even marginally) without drinking so much of it? I ask out of curiosity because my father stopped drinking his daily 2-liter (or 2) about a year ago and he swears it's made him feel…

Weight Watchers brand string cheese (there are other brands with 50-60 cals too) 50 cals, 6 grams of protein. I love to have them with an apple. They are fairly high in sodium though

As a person who used to hate water, simply put I just had to discipline myself to drink only water until it became all I wanted. It took years. I feel like flavored/sweetened drinks "spoil" you and make water unpalatable. I now truly love water and my thirst can't be quenched by anything else. I did start out with infused…

When I was younger fasting was easy for me but that's not the case anymore. I used to like doing it because I personally think it's good for gut health (to give your digestive system a rest) I would fast for 20-30 hours at a time. I don't do it anymore because I get ravenous for cruddy foods after my fast is over now.

Real Butter. Kerrygold butter FTW, it's always so soft and perfect. Ice Cream! If it isn't Häagen-Dazs I'm not touching it.

I like to have a bigger dinner or snack in the evening so I save a lot of calories for that because when I'm relaxing at home I want to snack and feel full. If that weren't true I'd likely eat a bigger lunch and smaller dinner so that I'm not full when I go to bed for digestion reasons.

It's a myth that you can "spot reduce". The only way to get rid of fat deposits is to lose weight in the form of body fat. Something you can do to speed it up is go on a drastic low carb diet-as in a Ketogenic diet (which is debated as not being healthy and in my opinion is not as I lost a lot of my hair when I did it).…

Hello fellow lifetime vegetarian! Thanks for your reply. Thanks to everyone else for their replies as well! I also don't worry too much about protein because even when I'm not tracking it I don't have any nutritional problems (except for being overweight!) However when I am REALLY trying to lose weight I notice that being…

I second everything that everyone else said. I suffer from acne. Using fresh towels for every shower and gym session seems to help. I also disinfect /clean my phone everyday before I shower. I have been prescribed Benze-Clin topical gel and it has helped more than anything else.

Haribo stopped making them because of the reviews. Lol. There are still other brands out there

How funny. I often go well over 30 without even trying. Joys of being a vegetarian I guess, lol. I pretty much second everything everyone else says. I do eat a lot of chickpeas and lentils which multiple people have already mentioned

I didn't say it could tell the difference between the sugars themselves. I was just pointing out that processed foods that have added sugars in them are fundamentally different than whole foods that do not. In turn avoiding refined sugars IS very beneficial. I also was really not trying to highjack this thread! Sorry!

I think they're a non-food item that is probably pretty bad for you. I bought some but never could get past the smell and didn't evem try them. Some (maybe all) of them have nasty, unhealthy food additives in them.

Your body can tell the difference between processed foods with sugar added and whole foods that contain naturally occurring sugars. I don't know why anyone would make it seem like cutting out refined sugar is silly. If you cut out refined sugar you cut out a whole lot of unhealthy crud by default. With that said, I love PB…

Thanks to all who have left their 2 cents here! I know a lot about nutrition and I'm eating a very balanced diet (although my macros are usually off by ~5%+/- because getting protein as a vegetarian with many food allergies is pretty hard-I do my best though) To be at a normal BMI I need to lose ~90 pounds. Currently I'm…

Don't do it! They're pretty gross. However, I love Coconut Flour Pancakes (I sometimes add banana slices while they're cooking-SO good) They have awesome macros and really satisfy my pancake cravings. I use this recipe: http://blog.paleohacks.com/coconut-flour-pancakes/#

I should mention that I do not eat 1,230 calories a day. I've tried but obviously can't and won't do it. I have my calorie goal set to 1,800 right now which has me losing almost nothing weekly and I'm ok with that. I just find it bizzare that I feel that way eating a seemingly reasonable amount of calories.

I assume what your GF was referring to is the fact that once you are "fat" and have extra fatty, fat cells those fat cells once made smaller through fat loss will always remain and want to be "full". Those extra fat cells create hormones that DO make it harder to maintain weight loss. That doesn't mean that CICO isn't a…

Like anything else, moderation is key. If soymilk will be one of your only servings of soy I don't think there's anything to worry about. If you eat tofu, vegetarian "meats" or protein shakes/bars with soy protein I'd be more cautious about adding another source of soy.

I have PCOS too. It definitely makes things harder but the biggest thing is to be CONSISTENT with your nutrition and exercise. I know that going back and forth with my nutrition is the worst thing I do for myself because if I'm not keeping my protein intake up my carb cravings get completely out of control. (I don't eat…

I've noticed that when I do squats it increases my libido. It makes sense, they increase blood flow to the lower body.

You might not be eating enough to lose. Also, it's pretty common to gain some water weight from going to the gym. Muscles that a recovering from a workout retain more water than unused muscles.

I definitely recommend ginger. My husband drinks ginger beer for the anti-nausea benefits. Obviously you see a doctor regularly but I wonder if you and your DR have explored potential health problems that can cause you to have these problems. (I mention this because my husband has Gastroparesis-a condition where part of…
