Oh I like you guys. I just keep my mouth shut most of the time but all these people being "supportive" of someone going over/under their calories (by a lot) is rather ridiculous.

... hypocrisy at its best.

I used to go through bags of chocolate in a matter of days. Then I discovered willpower.

I second the chicken and rice. I've been eating a lot of Teriyaki Chicken Bowls lately.

You're right on that. At first that giant influx of carb is going to bloat you a bit so don't be alarmed if the scale jumps up suddenly. If after a month you notice gains coming too quickly then lower the carb.

You only need your bodyweight in protein and 1/2 your bodyweight in fat. 120g~ protein, 60g~ fat and the rest from carb. At 3000 calories that would mean 540 cal from Fat, 500~ calories protein and almost 2000 calories from carb (or 500g) You can see why people think this is too much. If you're very active then O.K. but…

Macros = macro-nutrients (carbs/proteins/fats) If you want to lose some muscle then drop the protein below .8g per pound of LBM. Be careful not to lose too much though. Roughly 140g protein (700 calories), 100g fats (900 calories), 225g carbs (1000 calories) to lose some muscle mass and fat while maintaining your current…

Some people plateau for whatever reason. Eat maintenance calories for a week and then go back to a deficit. You might be eating too little though.

2800~ calories. Trying to gain weight. I eat most of that from carbs. Fruits/veggies/breads. Lots of milk and juice as well.

I'm not in San Diego nor do I need motivation but your ticker background is awesome.

1. Following a percentage split for macros isn't really wise. 1g per pound of LBM of protein. 1/2g per pound of total mass for fats. Fill the rest with carbs. 2. If you're really at 6.7% body fat then you can't get down to 184lbs without losing muscle. 3. You're eating way too little. You're a big guy. Eat more.

I think people say 20lbs for others to notice. Your body knows how much food it's getting over a long period of time. It doesn't matter if you eat 10x a day or once a day. If you constantly go under by too much (1200 calories should be a minimum not a maximum) then you're just setting yourself up for long-term failure.

Boy these bumps on my crotch sure are itchy. *from above* Things not to say at a chicken plant.

I too am supposed to be working. Meh

Unless you're obese (which you're not), a lot of weight loss is going to be water weight at first. If you have a wedding in two weeks and are looking for a "quick fix" type of diet, I'd recommend Lyle McDonalds rapid fat loss. http://www.files.failedmiserably.com/data/aironz/The%20Rapid%20Fat%20Loss%20Handbook.pdf Granted…

40lbs in 5 months. Total was 60lbs in about 18 months (didn't stick with it the whole time though)

The science is concrete on this matter. If you eat less than you burn you will lose weight. However, there are so many variables in calculating your burn that getting an accurate number is difficult. I relied on a HRM (heart-rate monitor) using this thread...…

I don't particularly enjoy working out in any manner. I'd much rather be like my cats and lay in bed all day, occasionally changing positions and only getting up to eat and poop. Unfortunately, I'm human so I can't do that. Instead I just tell myself that I'm exercising to avoid any problems that would give me less free…

I tried a week of low-carb and felt similar to what you're describing. It's not fun at all.

Oh my...

I was having a hard time since I'm trying to gain but I discovered liquids again. Juice & Milk

'cause I read the first paragraph but there's no acronym for that.

It doesn't take a week to lose a few hundred calories of "junk food." You also can't call it a plateau if it's only been 3 weeks. If you really feel so guilty for eating food then just summon up the courage and say no.
-
tl;dr It takes years to build muscle.
-
Denial maybe? Up until I saw the scale say 200 I never really thought I was that overweight. I also agree with someone before me that said you really have to want it. People out there are perfectly comfortable being overweight gluttons. If that's what they want, then that's what they want. I just focus on myself and if…

Over the course of a few months you can "overtrain" yourself meaning that your body will give up on you and force you to take a break. As long as you take a few days off every few months you'll be a-O.K. I don't believe there's such a thing as TOO MUCH exercise. Pursue your goals and fuel your body properly.

Desk job. I sit on a stability ball for 8~ hours and during my 30min lunch I take a nice walk to stretch my legs.
