  • Buy fruit and pick healthy options from wherever you pick up snacks from. Here, all of our food stops have fresh salads, yogurt, power bars, etc to buy. The only person putting junk food in your mouth is you. And binge drinking won't help. Measure out a shot or two and call it quits, all of that alcohol has calories. And…
  • Set out a bucket of cheap Halloween toys on your doorstep, like plastic spider rings and vampire teeth, that kind of thing. That might make you feel better about not giving kids unhealthy stuff? But they would still feel like they got a "treat".
  • I just switched to 40/30/30 and although it was hard at first, I find that I'm having some really great success with it. I think there's a lot to be said for eating a hearty amount of protein. Try it yourself and see if you like it, if not - no harm done.
  • I just started on a whim last week! So far so good, I really like it and am surprising myself with how far I can go. My biggest problem is keeping track of my distance and pace. I wear a FitBit at all times, but it's hard to tell much from the data other than intensity and calorie burn. Any tips?
  • Your legs have to adjust to the new shoes and the new surface/impact. When I used to play sports our coach would never let us do runs on pavement because the change from a grass field (which we normally practiced on) to the road would mess us up. I would recommend a few days of rest and then try picking up where you left…
  • Fitbit is cheaper and I bought one after reading reviews that the Fuel Band is less reliable (even though IMO it looks cool). There are newer Fitbits coming out that will sync with your phone too, and I love mine and highly recommend it - definitely get a Fitbit over the Nike.
  • Cake. I love cake.
  • I have tried other natural sweeteners - Truvia and Stevia both taste bitter to me, not sweet. And I have to use two packets of them instead of one Sweet N' Low... and since they're already twice as expensive, I'm spending 4x the cash on one cup of coffee. Not cool. I tried using real sugar too for a while, but I think I…
  • Feel free to look at my diary for the past week, I hit my macros consistently for 40/30/30. Try to load up on meat, eggs, or protein powder (not yogurt or dairy) because they contain a lot of the macro you want (protein) and zero of the macro you don't (carbs). Dairy has sugar/carbs by default.
  • I usually go shopping. I like shoes a lot, so sometimes I set up a goal weight within 10 lbs and when I reach that amount I'll buy a pair I've had my eyes on. But a lot of the time I just have to reward myself for working hard at losing weight. If you don't, even if you have not been losing, it's the effort that counts. It…
  • I usually just wing it - Heat a pan, add some olive oil, use a pepper or two, some onion, slice and dice to your liking - add broccoli, chicken, some soy sauce, maybe some Thai Kitchen sauce (the flavors are delicious, I highly recommend the Pineapple Chili) and voila! Hot veggies and chicken ready to eat. Have it with…
  • I guess that's a good point. I just can't stand unsweetened tea or coffee. :/
  • I just bought my first ever protein powder over the weekend. It's called PlantFusion and it's made entirely from vegetable proteins, not casein or whey or soy. I think it's really cool and it also tastes pretty good (so far the chocolate is better than vanilla). Just try what you like! It doesn't really matter what brand…
  • 456 + 53 (clumsygermang) + 85 (me) = 594!
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I'm not vegetarian or vegan but sometimes dairy doesn't seem to digest well for me, which is why I opted for a plant-based powder. I will be sure to try casein if I ever decide to bake with one. :) Also - good idea! Thanks! I could definitely do yoga in the morning and run when I get home. I'm…
  • Just eat a lot in the mornings if that's the time when you need food the most! Adjust your diet to accommodate smaller dinners and then you will feel more satisfied earlier in the day.
  • That's an intriguing idea, but no, I don't think it's too low. Ideally I would like to be 145, or even 150-155, but right now I have belly fat that still makes me feel self-conscious. The last time I calculated by BF% using my measurements, it came out to be about 33%. I don't think I'm muscular enough for 170 to be a…
  • Thanks for the suggestions! For the past few months I have been at 55% carbs. I will try reducing them and maybe go back to doing P90x videos a few times a week. I'm also going to try to stop eating breads and refined carbohydrates because I think that really has an effect on me too. My cut was a little under 15% because I…
  • I tried VFFs but had to return them after about a month because the insides of my big toes became numb (all the time, and even now almost three months later). I blame the fact that I was using them to walk on pavement. In theory, I think they are great shoes and I would love to have them again but ONLY if they were for…
  • I love my Fitbit. It tracks your steps and calorie bun and I like it because my activity is so variable from day to day. I think it's really accurate - and for the price, it can't be beat. I got mine for $70 on eBay so I would definitely look around to see if you could find one discounted too. I wear mine on my waistband…
  • Chicken and vegetables. Or Buddha's Delight which is a bunch of stir-fried veggies (but that isn't very satisfying!).. the other week I got chicken and hot peppers, which I thought was very good. Just try to stop eating once you feel full and leave most of the sauce in the container, don't get something deep fried, and…
  • You need a minimum amount of fat in your diet and long-term you will have negative health effects by not eating enough fat or protein.

  • When you eat less calories than your BMR your hair will fall out. Increasing calories should stop this problem and keep your organs healthy.
  • It doesn't work.
  • Would also like to know this.
  • I'm in the same position as you! I have an active job that varies from day to day, so Scooby's calculator seems unreliable and too confusing for me. The dial calculator has piqued my interest though, even though it seems a little high - I've been skeptical to trust it. Today I was looking into buying a FitBit but from all…
  • I think I agree. At first my instinct was to reduce my calories again, but instead I'm going to go the opposite direction for a week or two and will see what happens. Thanks!
  • I used to. I would make oatmeal for breakfast every morning with a banana, and although it was good and I still want it sometimes I'm trying to do something different every day to experience more variety. (It is, after all, the spice of life!) Lunches are usually pretty repetitive though. I try to mix it up but there's…
  • I know exactly how you feel! Kudos to you, that's amazing and I'm glad you were able to do it. I started losing weight on WW and it was torture for me. Now that I'm eating a more sensible calorie deficit I feel so much better and less deprived. Just like you, I found my old Weight Watchers food diary a few months ago and…
  • I know the feeling! My best advice is to try eating more calorie-dense things while your stomach adjusts to accommodate more food at meals. Adding more fat (butter, olive oil) or using nuts or spreads (peanut butter, mayo, walnuts, etc) take up less space but will provide you with more calories than something that's a…
