  • Feeling excessive guilt about "going over" can be really bad for your mental health. If you're already stressed out, worrying about your calories isn't going to help. I would definitely recommend trying maintenance until your life gets less hectic. Focus on staying healthy and not on a set number! If you're hungry, then…
  • The mentality that eating fat makes you fat is false. Don't buy diet foods, just buy normal foods and eat them in smaller quantities. I know from personal experience that eating too little fat and replacing your fat deficit with carbs is terrible for your body. My hair thinned out and my nails grew in weird because I…
  • http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lybo8sBp6T1r507a9o1_500.jpg Oatmeal (old fashioned) made with almond milk, topped with banana, craisins, and almonds. Truly delicious! I took the picture a while ago but I make it all the time. Depending on how much of everything you use, it should come out to less than 400 calories.…

  • YOU LOOK SO FANTASTIC Seriously.
  • You need to eat a number of calories that falls between your BMR and your TDEE. This website is pretty helpful in doing the calculations for yourself: http://www.free-workout-routines.net/tdee.html But in short, yes, eat all of your calories!
  • Yeah, you should eat more. I don't think 1500 is enough.
  • An easier way to look at it is that you're not eating to lose weight, you're eating to be healthy. That way you won't feel bad about consuming an adequate amount of food (1200 is not enough, you need to eat your BMR, at least).
  • A good rule of thumb is to eat 100-200 more calories than your BMR. That should still be a calorie deficit (less than you should eat to maintain your weight) but enough that you'll still be adequately fed. There are a lot of calculations you can do to be more precise. This site is really easy to follow:…
  • I'm glad you were able to take something from it! That was my goal. Thanks for replying. :)
  • Weight Watchers is easy to understand but I had a bad experience with it. The points don't provide adequate calories. I just posted a thread today about my WW experience if you want to read: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/572503-why-you-should-eat-more-a-lion-s-tale
  • Thanks for the response! I agree. It's incredible how much damage you can do by not eating right. :/
  • Eat more!!! Also, you can't work out every single day of the week. Taking a week "off" by doing "only cardio" is still too hard on your body. Be a couch potato every once in a while so your muscles can take a break.
  • You're working out waaaay too much. I see results working out 20-45 minutes 4 or 5 days a week. You need to rest more often and spend less time at the gym or else you'll overtrain. And you're not eating enough if the 1700 calories is ALL you eat. Calculate your BMR, add 10% to it, and then add whatever calories you're…
  • My school creamery has a Maple Bacon flavored ice cream. I have yet to try it but a lot of people have said it's pretty good.
  • Except for my birthday, I log everything! (And I even added cake on my bday but made it worth just a calorie. :P) I think it's good to be honest with yourself. Just stop when you're full and keep track of what you eat so that later you can look back and maybe learn from it.
  • Yeah, eating out means you're probably eating a lot of sodium. That'll cause you to retain weight in water which explains the weird way scales go up the day after you order takeout or go to a restaurant. My advice would be to not order dessert when going out. Get some coffee instead, if you must. For the main dish - the…
  • That's too funny! We are the exact same age, height, and weight. Should be easy for me to help you then. :P Our BMR is either 1465 or 1626 depending on which formula you use. Averaged, that comes to 1546 calories. I wouldn't eat less than that. (I did for a while, but that was because I didn't know better, and some days I…
  • I did P90x this year (just finished a few weeks ago!) and didn't do any special diet. I just estimated how many calories the workouts burned and ate as much protein every day as I could. I definitely saw results - you don't have to do anything like that crazy diet for the program to work. Good luck!
  • Just this week I upped my calories to eat my BMR, about 200 more a day. So far I feel a little bloated but that's probably from the high-sodium dinners this week and other hormonal factors. I'm just as anxious to see if this works, but I know eating too little just isn't a good idea. It might take your body a while to…
  • Blue Diamond is good. I like their original and unsweetened, but I think the original (60 calories/cup) would probably be better to drink out of a glass. I only use it to microwave my oatmeal with, so it doesn't make a HUGE difference and I don't mind the less-sweet unsweetened (40 calories/cup) version. There's also…
  • We usually eat at 5:30. There's nothing wrong with eating that soon. I don't get hungry again before bedtime, and to me going to sleep on a full stomach doesn't seem appealing.
  • You definitely aren't eating enough. Calculate your BMR and eat however many calories that is, maybe a little more. Then if you exercise, eat those calories too. Try to eat a diet balanced with protein and fat (the protein is important).
  • Our bodies don't need the chemicals that are in it, so why drink it? Nobody has proven that diet soda is bad, but the fact is, it isn't nutritious either. You would do better fueling your body with water or tea (or milk or anything, really, that isn't processed). It's all a matter of personal choice. I used to drink one or…
  • Agave nectar maybe? I've never tried it but see stuff about it everywhere.
  • Yes, it's called regular peanut butter. Healthy foods are whole foods. If you buy reduced-fat it'll be the same calories with a little less fat and a bunch of added chemicals you don't need in your body. Eat a little bit at a time, diets are about moderation.
  • Some people reek more than others because of the way you perceive their smell. There have been a few studies that determine people "choose mates" subconsciously based on smell, since body odor reflects the human immune system. People with an immune system too similar to yours smell bad (like family members) and people with…
  • Due to my class schedule I'm forced to eat snacks, or else my lunch would be way too early or way too late. But I'm really tired of this system and I'm trying to eat two small lunches now and that seems to be working out. My favorite snacks are greek yogurt, almonds, carrots and hummus, granola bars (Kashi brand), apples,…
  • I would just pack a lunch and explain that you're trying to watch what you eat. Nobody should argue with you about that, and if they do it's kind of rude on their part.
  • From what I can see, it looks like you are eating very healthy foods. If I had to make any suggestions at all, it would be to try and limit your crisp consumption (processed foods are not nutritious and can perpetuate your "junk food tooth".) And it looks like you don't eat the same amount of calories every day - like…
