Very well said! Fortunately I've never had a true struggle with weight, but not liking my body and not feeling good enough has plagued me anyway. This year, I have started to see fitness and health as a lifestyle, not a goal, and that has led me to find things that I enjoy doing, not doing things because I "have" to. Nice…

My favorite websites for workout information: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/workouts/ http://www.niashanks.com/store/ Nerd Ftiness has a great beginner bodyweight workout and has really easy to follow tips for designing your own workout. I decided to work on push-ups and pull-ups and he has progression plans for that.…

Nice post. For me, nothing tastes as good as strong feels. But, that being said, I eat what I want...in moderation....I stay within my boundaries (mostly!)

Gloves. Black, not pink.

My senior Lab is fed Nutro Senior Large Breed. My "toddler" is on Blue Buffalo large breed. Neither one has ever had a skin issue, but my senior has always had a sensitive tummy. Both are in great health. Food is very pricy...both are about $35 for 15 pounds. I love them, they're part of the family, so they're worth it!

I only took a front and back, and that was back in April....probably ought to take some new ones. Maybe when I'm done with the 12 weeks.... Edit - I only started 5x5 Oct. 1st. I have been doing dumbbells and kettlebells since last March.

I was a runner, loved to run. I was thin and could eat pretty much anything I wanted. I got an illness that laid me up for a few months, and I probably will never be able to do the endurance thing again. I gained weight, and was desperate to figure out what to do. I discovered weights and it's my new love. I'm older…

Ok...week #3 completed. I ended up putting a step without risers at my feet for the bench press. Much better! I'm doing an underhand grip on the row - easier on my tennis elbow. And I'm making progress! Definitely feels much more like work, and I feel a little jelly-like at the end. Not progressing as quickly as the…

Some are close, but not quite twins: Age 48 Height 5'5" HW - about 155 CW - 136 GW - don't really have one...working on strength now BF% - 26.9 Goal BF% - 22%

My 30th reunion was this past summer and I had every intention of going. I wasn't unpopular, but had a very small group of friends, none of whom I am in contact with today. I like the use of FB to see who will be attending, it's very helpful! I didn't see anyone on the list that I was particularly interested in…

Same story here...went in for Lasik, but had to have the PRK instead - thin corneas. Immediately following, my vision was crystal-clear and I was ecstatic! Then, the blurriness and grittiness came. I had trouble even opening my eyes to put the drops in. The medication for inflammation made my stomach upset and I took…

Nia rocks!

I tried the underhand grip and it didn't hurt at all. I'll stick with that for a while. I have had 2 days worth of Apple Cider Vinegar, so we'll see how that turns out. And, I am not kidding...the magnetite bracelet is doing something!

Only 5? Tough... 1. Harrison Ford (as Indiana Jones) 2. Matthew McConaghey 3. Bill Clinton (slightly younger version) 4. Viggo Mortenson 5. Erik from True Blood - don't know his real name/Alcide can sub if he's not available! Damn! I just can't do 5 - I just saw someone else's Hugh Jackman...drool!

Interesting! I think I will try it. I've heard of people using it, but I wasn't sure why or how. Everything sounds wonky until you find out it works. I've been icing, stretching and wearing an elbow strap. I was at a psychic faire (there's wonky for you) on Saturday in Salem MA (witch capital USA) and bought a magnetite…

Thank you for the reply. I don't have rows until Weds. and I will try the underhand grip. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Definitely bumping this one!! Pumpkin!!

Thanks for the feedback! Plates under the feet - not sure I would have thought of that! I am sore today, even after thinking it was too easy. I like this kind of sore!

I started the program yesterday!! I'm not exactly a beginner - I've been using dumbbells and kettlebell workouts all year - but the barbell seemed new and scary for me. I had to make some adjustments. We have a fitness room at work, but the barbell isn't olympic, it weighs only 20 pounds, so I did have to add weight.…

Agree! I have a FB friend (not on MFP) who has been on a weight loss journey for almost a year. She posted about how hard she's been working, and that her clothes are feeling looser and she bought a smaller size in something....but she was moaning about "why aren't the pounds coming off"?? I posted back to "step away from…

I would call you a success! Skinny pants = success! Seriously though, BF% is a much better indicator of success than what the scale will tell you. I like Eat More to Feel Healthy! You need to eat more to sustain the active lifestyle you've embraced. And you've developed a great attitude about the whole thing. Congrats! And…

Maintain! Fitness is not a goal, it's a lifestyle.

Love hummus and will try to make some of my own. Yes, I have tried lentil chips and loved them! I believe I got them at Trader Joe's. My nearest one is off my beaten path so I don't get there much. My local grocery store as a pretty good organic/natural section, but they don't carry them. Good luck!

My favorite reds: Mirassou Pinot Noir (light) , BV Estates Cabernet (heavy) My favorite whites: Kendall Jackson Chardonnay (oaky), Barefoot Moscato (sweet) Someone mentioned staying away from blends, but I really like Three Sisters Menage a Trois (blended white) All of these are fairly reasonable. I do pretty much follow…

Bumping, so I can keep this as a reminder. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with the other posters...if you're doing 12 reps at 8 pounds pretty easily..just up the weight. If you try 10 pounds and can still do 12 easy reps....try 12 pounds. Once you find the weight that you can do maybe 6 or 8 with an effort, use that until it becomes 12 easy reps. Then just keep going up. Take a look at…

I had the TV to myself one morning and was overwhelmed by infomercials - diets and workouts, and even the kitchen gadgets emphasing how their product can be used to make health food (like Green smoothies). I say, if you have the money, do what makes you happy. If you find a workout that is fun and you can stick with, then…

Dayum! Amazing results! Inspirational even. Congrats!

Wow! Great progress! I also notice better posture. I know lifting has helped me in that area. Good luck with the rest of your journey!
