I can totally believe that.

There has been one or two occasions in the last year of "serious" exercise where I've felt like I might vomit. It's just a sign to take a break and have a drink of water because you are pushing too hard. It's not a bad thing, it means you are giving your all and we can all be guilty of misjudging that (either way) at…

Running, home work out DVDs, pilates, yoga, body weight training.... anything that doesn't require equipment. Which is a lot.

I've emailed the gym and been told they are offering me personal training with someone better qualified and the PT in question will be given a serious talking to. So I have missed the boat on that, maybe he will change his ways after being given a dressing down by his manager, I am not sure. As for me - I am still…

You know, I'm not saying he is sexist or anything extreme like that but I really felt like if I was a man who had said this to him that he would've have told me to stick with low weights, high reps and machines.
-
LOL. Yes, I would be offended.
-
You better believe I get a bucket load of gravy all over my shepherds pie.

I love my legs in general ever since I began long distance running. It's the best thing for them in my opinion and personal experience.
-
Yup. I am an all out realist. It's the best way to be as it doesn't give you false hope. Imagination will not make you slim.

I really don't see why people are saying they don't understand more than an hour of cardio. Long distance runners who do it for a hobby frequently hit over 1 hour of cardio on a run and it's great for their bodies. I have never felt fitter or more agile since I started running for 60-90 minutes when I go.
-
Not at all. It takes me 90 minutes to run 15km. A marathon is around 42km.
-
When I go for long runs and I hit around 80-90 minutes, I find I will have burnt more calories than if I split that into 30 minute segments. That may just be me but here's my reasons why i think this is; 1. Determination. I do not settle for second best, so I push myself hard to hit the time or distance I want that day,…

Agreed. I don't judge other people for what they choose to eat, it's their call. As it's mine to choose what I eat. It p"sses me off when people make comments about me choosing a healthier option when we eat out, so why would I be a hypocrite and even consider what they are eating when it annoys me when the roles are…
-
I don't think this is normal. What others eat shouldn't concern you, this sounds like you've developed a bit of an eating complex.
-
The way I take this is that if I eat "clean" most of the time, I don't need to count calories anymore. Since I stopped counting in May 2013 I have lost 3.5kgs through eating mostly clean foods. I eat a whole plate load of food for my lunch and hit around 300 calories, it's amazing. But I am not so strict I don't let myself…

Wait... a doctor put you on this diet?!
-
Not at all, as I've already stated I don't need one I just thought maybe I did for a little extra guidance into something totally new for me.
-
That's what I thought about mentioning advice from online too because most people discredit it. Which is ridiculous as I'd be willing to bet his Personal Trainer course was through an online service, for the lack of knowledge he had and/or current research I can't imagine he studied it at college/university. I could be…

Thank you, I appreciate this feedback! I thought I knew what he was saying wasn't right but I just needed some confirmation from people a little more experienced in it than me.
-
I agree it was a waste of time but it's all trial and error, until you experience it for yourself you don't know that. I feel such a newbie when it comes to weights that I just thought maybe a little guidance was what I needed.
-
He was very affirmative when I suggested I didn't want to use machines and wanted to use free weights (even though he hadn't tailored the plan for me at all) and to be honest it sounds silly but I didn't want to question him too much because he is qualified compared to me being not qualified but having read so much…

Imagination can't cause weight loss. It can help push you towards your goals, but diet and exercise are the only things which will cause you to lose weight.

I'm in Germany and it's ridiculously hot here too. I started running early in the morning or early evenings once it got cooler, alternatively on a few days I exercised indoors because I just couldn't face it and wasn't free to do it when it was cooler. On the few days I did go at mid day, I took lots of water with me and…

Oh my gosh they look good. I love Pinks Pantry and their recipes, thanks for sharing this one!

In comparison mine doesn't sound terrible as it's just one thing but it was pretty common for me "back in the day" to order a large dominos pizza for myself for lunch. I would eat it in bed watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Who wants some of this? Haha. That was many years ago now, my binge eating got a lot better after I…

I am a big fan of this reply. OP - you can do this. You have to find what works for you and it may be scary but everything is scary when you first start. The benefits in the long run will be worth it.
-
Ditto. I always consume bigger amounts after around 3pm up to 11pm.
-
Usually 300-400 calories. I tend to have oatmeal with low fat milk and half a chopped up banana, protein pancakes or scrambled egg whites.
-
I don't and don't really agree with taking them. However, if I am hungry and for whatever reason have to weight to eat, I try to drink a lot of water or I'll have a cup of tea/coffee to subside it whilst I wait if that's any help to you.

Thanks guys :) I went and asked for advice - the woman took me straight over to the cardio section and starting preaching about the cross fit - euugghhh! Not a bother, I used it as a warm up then moved on to some weight machines. I felt too intimidated for the free weights without any guidance so I think maybe this week I…
