I logged my dog walking, when I was able to walk him. We currently are at -15 degrees (F), so it's been too cold to walk Baxter. Once it warms up, we will get back to our daily walks and I will log them.

I don't follow the rest periods as they are stated in the book because I can't be doing a workout for 90 mins. I am on Stage 3 and I normally do 45-60 rest after each set (except for the BWM, when I need 2 mins. to catch my breath and allow my legs to stop burning). My workouts last approximately 65-70 mins with the BWM or…

I do the workout at home. I have a bench, barbell w/weights and a few sets of adjustable dumbbells. I also have a swiss ball. I use the stairs and platforms in my house for any moves requiring a step. Granted, I am only on Stage 2 but I haven't had many issues. I am in the process of building a squat rack because I…

I am going to be honest and say if you are only looking to see the number on the scale go down, then this isn't the program for you. If you are looking to lose inches and look awesome naked, then I would go for it! I am not small to begin with (208, 5'10") and I have dropped 2 dress sizes after finishing the first stage.…

I just finished Stage 1 and I am beginning stage 2 tonight. I only lost 2 pounds with stage 1, BUT I lost about 6 inches. I know it's hard to do, but put your scale away and focus on how your body looks and feels, not what your scale says. I used to weigh myself every week, and I was disappointed with the number I saw,…

Oh my gosh! I totally felt the difference starting on workouts 5A & B. I increased my weight by a decent amount and with the additional set, WOW! My muscles were like jelly the next day, Ha! I am doing Workout 6A tonight, so we will see how I do. I am still feeling the soreness from my workout on Wednesday night. The great…

I do the NROLFW program at home. I just started a few weeks ago. So far I have done well with the equipment I have at home. The book provides modifications for exercises that can be done at home versus on a machine (when needed). Most of the exercises can be done with a set of weights (I bought a set that has adjustable…

Yummy! Those sound and look delicious!

Good point! I never thought responding this way, but you are totally right! I started NROLFW and everyone keeps asking if I am worried I am going to bulk up (which I'm not). Now I know how to respond :)

I do a lot of different workouts which are not listed in the MFP database, so I enter a new exercise in my list of exercises. I use a heart rate monitor to measure my calorie burn and then I name the workout and put in the appropriate calories burned. That way it is more taylored to my caloric burn than the standard number…

Maybe you are just bored with your routine? I know when I do the same workout routine over and over I lose interest (and therefore intensity). Try mixing it up a bit :) Also, as a side note, working out 5-6 days a week and taking a day or two off is not a bad thing. You should take a day off every once in a while.

I totally agree! I set a weekly goal to lose 1.5 pounds. If I can meet or beat that, I feel awesome! So far I have been doing well and I am proud of myself. If I set a goal to lose 40 lbs in 3 months and failed, it would be hard to motivate myself to keep trying. Settiing weekly goals, at least for me, allows me to make…

Feel free to add me! I just joined a few weeks ago and am looking to lose about 50 lbs. All the help and support I can get to help motivate me would be great! Good for you starting the insanity workout! You will have to keep me posted on how you do! I am not sure I am ready for it yet, but I want to be :)

Hi everyone! I am from the NW burbs of Chicago (Crystal Lake). If anyone is from around that area, let me know!

I am not sure of your personal situation with being sedentary, but if you can add in a bit of working out, that might help. Maybe try boxing punches (you don't even need to stand up to do them). Also, I reccommend drinking lots of water! Water is super important. I would also start to add your gin and tonics as part of…

I LOVE avocados in a salad. It adds a great texture and flavor!
