  • Thanks! Happy New Year to you too!
  • Well this is a quiet thread now, but wanted to share that I finished my 100 workout challenge. When I signed up in July I thought it was any workout, but it's only workouts at the dojo, so I've managed to do 100 cardio kickboxing and kettlebell classes! Now I eat and rest!
  • Well I entered a workout challenge. 100 workouts at the dojo by Dec. 31 so I've dropped heavy lifting for now, just don't have time for both and we do resistance training in class, plus still kettlebell competition training most Saturdays. I'm on workout 40. No change in body comp, but I'm hoping when I incorporate heavy…
  • What protein powder is everyone using? Bonus if it's vegan and available in Canada! I love my Diesel vanilla, but I seem to be developing an issue with lactose. Anything remotely over a scoop in a day and I pay for it!
  • Well I'm trying to put together a realistic program for myself to move up my weights and help burn this fat. Getting better about the protein after working out and will try and scale back the weekend treats and light beers.
  • Nope, never. Not when I weighed less and not now either.
  • That is awesome! Love the pics too. Man this is inspiration! I'm actually looking at reaching out for help to lose the covid fat. Just can't shake it (I blame menopause). I want to change up my workouts, but still keep some of the stuff I love. Plus I try and eat decent, but don't want to give everything up. Just so much…
  • Note to self, take time to warm up if you're going to workout as soon as you get up!
  • I went for a long walk in yesterday's beautiful weather. I'm hoping with warmth and sun will come more ambitious workouts.
  • I feel like the pandemic has exhausted everyone. I'm still doing my usual, still trying to lose the last bit of covid weight. I'm sure if I gave up my beer (light beer!) and sweet tooth it would be much easier!
  • Well this past week was hard core cardio. Cardio kickboxing 5 days and then yesterday was kettlebell training, cardio kickboxing, ficus pad class and self defense. Needless to say I was sore and tired! Next week will be all weights as I'm getting a tattoo reworked and need to avoid sweating too much.
  • @caramelgyrlk that is awesome! I just turned 50 in November, but I'm not leaving the thread. Now that Ontario is starting to open, again, I'll be headed back for cardio kickboxing. I've been lucky enough to workout at my friends so I'm trying to increase weights, maybe scale back cardio. I'm still training kettlebells. Did…
  • This is the group, just like minded 40ish year old folk sharing the journey!
  • @Beeps2011 I'm glad you are still moving. Sounds like your subconscious is frustrated, or your conscious! I do so much better in a group setting, don't think I'll ever give it up.
  • Well I was hoping to start lifting heavier and reducing treats and beer. Treats and beer are being reduced, but have to wait to lift until the weekend, covid cautious and the dojo is closed so I'll have to figure out cardio. Trying to stay positive. Was 157lbs last Feb, last kettlebell competition on Dec 15 I was 149lbs,…
  • Did another kettlebell event which was fun. Getting to cardio kb 3-4 times a week and weights at least twice a week.
  • So after a wonderful 2 week vacation I was back to working out for a week (feeling a little fluffy!), then finally got the tattoo I booked for March and now off another week. Very much looking forward to working out on Saturday!
  • Well after 2 weeks of vscay eating too much, drinking too much and spending g too much (though I walked over 33,000 steps one day) back to working out. Started with a bang with leg day, including 5 x 5 hipthrusts at 225lbs! Definitely a PR.
  • Sometimes you need a break to enjoy it again. I'm working on losing my pandemic weight, eating too much, drinking too much and not able to workout as hard during the lockdowns. Now that stay at home has been lifted I can lift again at my friends and since New Years Eve I've done 6, 1 hour one arm long cycle kettlebell…
  • Well back into lockdown. No cardio kickboxing. Hitting the bag is a major stress reliever. No weights at my friends place and I was making progress. So weights with what I have at home, zoom cardio workouts and kettlebell workouts. Might try jogging again, really not a fan, but don't want to lose my conditioning!
  • Thank you This! This marathon is non-stop long cycle, so swing to clean and jerk. I switched hands every 30 sec.
  • Did my second kettlebell marathon doing long cycle. Managed to do 35 minutes at 12kg and then dropped to 8kg for the rest when I felt my hands ripping.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss.
  • Well during lockdown I worked out 6 times a week, only gain 3lbs, but I was 7lbs over where I wanted to be, but a lot was muscle and clothes fit well. Now I feel fluffier. I am back at the dojo and lifting at my friends gym. Here's hoping for some muscle gains and fluff loss!
  • I need to do this too, specifically sugar and alcohol. They're like the only things to look forward to during this endless Groundhog Day!
  • It's been awhile since I posted. Usually I'm doing the same old kickboxing and kettlebell and walking, but I've been working from home, so less walking. My friends and I are doing virtual cardio kickboxing classes 6 days a week. I bought kettlebells just before this all and I keep aiming for 2-3 times a week, but so far…
  • Been awhile since I checked in. I'm still hitting the bag and have added more strength training at a friends house as well as she has a full gym. Hoping to kettlebell class will start up soon too. Trying to tone up a bit, have gained 2-3lbs since surgery, nothing major but need to keep it under control!
  • I'm so sorry to hear this, I really hope everything is ok with your son.
  • Well I have been good at going to cardio kickboxing 4 times a week and walking, but I'm off now for 4-6 weeks, going to stay yoga hopefully next week once I'm clear to and trying to get some walking in in the mean time and stay on track with my diet, though as usual there is too much sugar!
