  • I am not a fan of light Ranch dressings - mostly they do not taste good at all. Lately I have found the Bolthouse Farms yogurt ranch dressing - it is really good. 70 cals for 2 Tbsp. They have some other varieties too.
  • I made these yesterday and they are wonderful! My picky little kids really like them. Next time I may not even use the whole amount of chocolate chips. Mine came out at 87 calories each, maybe because I used whole milk?
  • I work 12-hour shifts, so on those days I usually don't eat dinner until 8-8:30. I eat a regular-sized dinner at that time. I haven't noticed it to have an adverse effect on my weight loss.
  • From what I have read, it is true. The spices increase your body's temperature slightly, which raises your heart rate slightly. Overall, it can boost your metabolism for a few hours after eating. In any case, it can't hurt to try, right?
  • Gym doesn't have childcare on Sundays so that is usually out. If it were nicer outside I would throw the kids in the stroller and at least go for a walk or something. I do always try to stick to my calorie guideline.
  • I haven't tried it yet. From the website, it looks like basically all the oil is removed, which would definitely drop the calories.
  • I wouldn't worry about the sugars in fruits and veg unless you are diabetic. Tracking sugar on this site is misleading because it includes natural as well as added sugars. You just have to look through your diary and note how much of the sugar is from fruits and vegetables, and how much is from other things.
  • Congratulations! You are right that you shouldn't try to lose weight. You might want to use MFP to see what your maintenance calories would be and add about 150-200. Keep eating nutritious foods, and keep exercising if you have been exercising - don't push too hard. I had to follow a diabetic diet for part of my first two…
  • Keep recording your food if you want, but don't worry about where you end as far as calories. Just do what your stomach will let you do and get your rest! Use the comment section to describe your sickness if it makes you feel better :)
  • My daily calories are 1200-1600ish depending on exercise. The only times I have had trouble eating everything was if I didn't eat enough early in the day and had to try to pack it all in during the evening. And didn't have any decadent desserts laying around to help catch up, lol. This almost never happens, generally it…

  • I am a big fan of Jif and Peter Pan, but I am making the switch back to natural Smucker's and am finally getting to love it. I recently tried the Maranatha almond butter and it was actually pretty gross (it was a variety with no added ingredients). I am sure there must be some better tasting ones out there. Oh, I also…
  • They have a new whole grain version out....I haven't tried it but you could look into it. It's not 100% whole wheat but does have a lot more fiber than the original.
  • If you are trying to get into ketosis you will have to count natural carbs as well as processed. If you don't care about that, keep eating your fruits and veg!
  • Often they will put butter on a steak, so you might want to ask for no butter.
  • I've always heard that you can't spot reduce. However, lately I've been hearing that planks, side planks, and twists can help a bit with that area.
  • Celtic sea salt is supposed to be one of the best, it has trace amounts of some other minerals including, if I remember correctly, some naturally occurring iodine. It looks weird (grayish) but I can't tell a difference flavor-wise.
  • I've tried the kale chips, once with oil and vinegar, once with cheese :). Strange but good. The cheese ones taste almost like nachos.

  • natural applesauce cups popcorn granola bars (without nuts) dry cereal sugar free or lowfat pudding cups
  • Great list, just make sure to watch the labels, especially for those who are new to this. Some of those items can be "clean" or "not clean" depending on how processed they are and what ingredients are used.
  • I have been trying to eat at least 5 servings of fruit or vegetable per day. Usually 2-3 of these are fruits. They do have a lot of sugar, however, I feel that the health benefits of the fruits outweigh the "badness" of the sugar. Unless you are trying to stick to a very low carb/no carb diet, I wouldn't worry about eating…
  • Go shopping in Florida, I'm sure they will have more summery things.
  • Eggs would be good.
  • I would really like to learn more about this. I have been trying to move to more local and/or organic items, grass-fed beef, raw cheese, etc. Tried raw milk but it didn't go over well with the family. I'm hoping to try it again eventually, maybe for making yogurt if nothing else. Overall my diet is not strict at this…
  • I have to get up super early for work too, and have a hard time stomaching anything that early. So when I get up, I will have an ounce of cheese or a piece of dark chocolate(!). Then a couple hours later at work (8 or 9) I'll have a boiled egg and fruit or turkey sausage, and coffee.
  • Local farms where the animals are raised on pasture and organically grown hay (not corn), poultry who are truly range-free and allowed to eat their normal diet of insects, etc.; these can be great, low-fat sources of protein. Delicious, too.
  • MFP sets your calories at a deficit. Working out gives you a deficit. 2 deficits is going to put your energy expenditure vs calories in too low, causing the starvation mode. If you really don't want to have to eat your exercise calories, set your daily caloric intake to a maintenance level. Then all your exercise "counts"…
  • How incredibly scary. Especially the parts about infant formula. I have heard some of this info before but I think now I may start to more proactively avoid food items with soy protein. Thanks for posting.
  • I make salmon patties, too. I add 1 egg, some oatmeal, onion, seasonings of choice, and a little pickle relish. Once I added chopped slivered almonds and that was good, too. You don't have to remove skin or bones if you don't mind them, they are very good for you and meant to be eaten.
