  • So all, the training has been going well. Am back onto MFP so I can keep a track of my diet as need to lose a couple of stone at the moment. IF you check out my blog you can see what I have been up to www.ironsnook.co.uk James
  • Funnily enough mine was caused from doing it barefoot too (god knows why I felt the need to either). Must have done a bit more damage than you did though. Probably have a lot more weight pressing down on it. Am following some exercises for getting the achilles back in shape so hopefully they will work. 1 week left of…
  • You may well have been over training. This is fairly common. Your body is making you feel tired and lethargic to stop you from pushing it too hard. What I have found works for me when I go through periods of lacking motivation, is to reduce the amount of time I spend exercising by about 20% (for example if you were running…
  • I use 90+ Protein powders and the chocolate one is perfectly drinkable. Very high protein and very low carbs per serving. Tastes a bit like nutella I guess. Its good enough though.
  • I had a similar niggling ankle pain from doing Insanity, and it has manifested into an achilles injury that is taking an age to shift, even doing virtually no exercise at all. Go and see a physio would be my advice, and see what they have to say.
  • The only problem with low carbs is that if you are going to do any serious exercising, you need the carbs in order to be able to work out efficiently. One way to go about lowering carbs is to only allow yourself to eat them first thing in the morning, then around when you exercise (some before, and some after). This has…
  • Well done thats great news. Remember to incorporate some strength training into your gym workouts. Not half as intimidating as it sounds, and fantastic for burning calories and building muscle. For every pound of muscle you build your body will burn more calories, making weight loss even easier as you gradually become a…
  • I never remember ever doing any damage to mine. The surgeon who operated on me explained that some people are just genetically pre-disposed to suffering from lower back pain. Its all to do with how wide the channel near your spine that carries your nerves is. Kinda fascinating actually, but rather a bit too much for me to…
  • How much did the weight go up by each time? Also are you weighing yourself weekly? Muscle is quite hard to gain, and even most muscle building athletes struggle to gain more than 1 pound per week.
  • In my experience its shoes being too tight that causes this. Loosen off your laces and try again. My feet swell up when on an elliptical (probably to do with the motion of the thing) and that causes them to go numb. Looser laces did the trick for me.
  • I had almost identical symptoms to you about 4 years ago. Gradually things got worse and worse, the sciatica really kicked in and I ended up having an operation to repair a torn disc in my lower back. I am by no means saying that this is what will happen to you, but my very strong advice would be to find a physio who…
  • In my experience you have to tinker a bit with your diet and exercise to find a level that you are happy with, and that will maintain the weight you want to achieve. Set a calorie level, and try to stick to it. If you gain a pound here, or lose a pound there it doesn't really matter on a week by week basis. The most…
