Leslie Sansone says "any time is a good time to work out". All that matters is if it works for you. For me, I like working out at night because I have to get up at 5am for work so I wouldn't want to get up any earlier than that to work out. The exception is on the weekends when I don't have to get up for work. I actually…

I'm not sure if anyone already answered this. I didn't read the article myself, but my boss told me that she read that while the hospital is saying they followed protocol, that may not be entirely accurate. Apparently, the health care workers weren't properly outfitted the first few days they were treating him (ie, flimsy…

This! I think it took me 4-6 weeks before weight came off. Then after 15 pounds I stopped losing and it took another few months of going up and down before it started consistently going down again. Hang in there!

For only having 30-37 lbs to lose, 2/4 lbs a week is too aggressive of a loss. I agree that 1500 calories sounds like a better and more healthier goal to shoot for calorie wise. In 2 years I've only lost 30 lbs which by some might not be enough, but it's enough for me. I just keep moving forward and don't look back. You've…

Definitely agree with a fruit or veggie tray. They usually go over well at meetings. Also, maybe you can make your own trail mix. Pick up either almonds or pecans and add your own dried fruit and seeds (like pumpkin seeds). I think I heard a good ratio of fruit to nut is 1/3 fruit to 2/3 nuts/seeds.

Some good suggestions so far. I was doing this too, feeling ravenous when getting home and needing to eat something before dinner was ready. I stepped back and tried to evaluate why: Am I not eating enough for lunch? Can I eat a bigger lunch and eat a smaller portion for dinner? What is my afternoon snack consisting of? Is…

We bought the Gold's Gym elliptical at Walmart. This was well over 2 years ago and it still works just as good and when we put it together. It was definitely under $500 (may have been under $300 now that I think about it). We've gotten our money's worth out of it. Love having it and both the hubby and I still use it. (BTW…

Agreed. I used to have one of the oats and chocolate bar every day for an afternoon snack. It kept my hunger at bay until dinner time. I stopped buying them because we were cutting down on our grocery budget and those things are not the cheapest. Now, I've been buying the 90 calorie ones to have as treats (I love all the…

I agree with this 100%. Also, you might want to look into a liquid vitamin supplement if you're not able to get all the nutrients through food. But, if you make smoothies of a lot of things you might be surprised how much nutrition you can pack into one glass. You can also add Greek yogurt to the smoothies for added…

Exactly! Just like the "does this dress make me look fat" question. It's a trap. If you say yes, you're in the dog house. If you say no, you're lying. Best off trying to change the subject.

I was teetering between that and the "when you win you actually lose...and when you lose you actually win...and when you win or lose you actually tie...and when you tie you actually win or lose..."

See. if I'm thirsty. I don't want a glass of water, I want you to sympathize. I want you to say, "Gloria, I too know what it feels like to be thirsty. I too have had a dry mouth." I want you to connect with me through sharing and understanding the concept of dry mouthedness.

This! There are a lot of people on here who have lost what I'm trying to lose in over a year. I'm two years in, since my son was born, and I've only lost 29 pounds. I feel it's a snail's pace, but I am happy with this. It means I'm making changes that will stick for the long term. I will not look back, only forward. I've…

Wow huge loss!! Congrats :flowerforyou:

I just looked at your profile. I would suggest trying to build a support system (which it seems like you're doing) and complete your profile. How many calories are you shooting for each day. Is it 1200? That seems to be the magic number given to most newbies but that might be too little and too aggressive starting out. I…

This! I've done it too where I ate something before looking at the calories then realized oh boy. Don't give up though. Now that you know how many calories was in that portion, make the portion smaller next time to fit within your calorie goal. Or go for a longer workout session.

OMG so many I had to create playlists lol. I wrote a blog post about it, but I haven't updated the list in a while so it's been changed and added to. Recently, though, when I jog I enjoy listening to Hans Zimmer, specifically his songs from the soundtrack Rush. I like the tempo (has natural ups and downs) and there are…

I can't view the pics atm so I'll have to check this out again later. I have my first 5k this Saturday and I'm excited and nervous. I know I won't do as well as you did, but as long as I finish (which I know I will) I'll be a happy girl lol. This is inspiring and congrats on doing so well on your first race :drinker:…

So true! I used to be obsessed with the number on the scale. Like you mentioned, fluctuations can even exist with how you stand on the scale from day to day and if the scale is in the EXACT spot it was the day before (we keep our's in the bathroom closet so each time I use it I have to pull it out so it might be a fraction…

What started this was eating more and moving less. The first eye opener when I started counting calories was seeing that my morning cup of coffee had as many calories as my breakfast...like :noway:

I'm not a runner yet, but a jogger. Partly for the reasons others listed, but mostly I jog because I love the boost it gives to my self esteem. I still struggle with inner demons from time to time, but the progress of going longer and the sense of accomplishment is so satisfying to my soul.

I agree with slow and steady wins the race. This site has really helped me too. I've learned so much over the years. I wish I knew then what I knew now because I might not have gotten to this weight to begin with. I can't change the past, though, but I'm going to make a better future for myself. Thank you for sharing this.…

Thank god I wasn't drinking coffee at this moment or it would be all over my keyboard. BTW, Zelda rules!!!!

All good suggestions. It was hard for me the first couple of weeks because when my blood sugar drops I can get to the point where I vomit and shake so I would eat to keep my blood sugar leveled out. When I tried eating less I assumed the hunger pains would lead to my blood sugar dropping but through trial and error I…

Thank you for sharing. This sounds great! I might just swap chocolate chips for the M&M's since I have the chips (and all the other ingredients) on hand.

This. Strictly talking weight loss, though. Depending on what you eat for "fast food" you might not feel satiated for long since burgers, fries, and shakes add up to 1400 calories quickly. But as the above poster mentioned, if you're including fruits and veggies it can still be satisfying. The dollar/value menus are nice…

+1 I've had it for probably almost 2 years now and I still love it. I might look to upgrade in the future with something that has more features, but so far this is the one (from Fitbit) that has the best overall reviews on Amazon and I am very pleased with it. I know some men complained that while it was clipped to their…

Truly amazing! You look great!!
