  • What else do you add to your smoothies? When I add cottage cheese (I use this instead of yogurt and have come to like it), protein powder, and fruits. This usually ties me over until noon but not always. Oatmeal is a good option for staying full longer. You could also make an omelet for yourself and then reheat it in the…

  • It most certainly is. When I compare what MFP says compared to when I manually calculate exercise calories based off of my average heart rate, MFP usually triples the amount of calories I actually burned. This along with the other suggestions people mentioned might help you to lose weight faster. If not, don't fret and…
  • 60 days...for this streak. I've been logging longer than that but missed a day on the weekend.
  • Oh, but more specifically to the OP. I know what you mean so I find myself portioning ahead of time too, or buying it where they have individual packs. If what you're doing works, though, go for it. You're losing weight which is great! :flowerforyou:
  • Funny this came up. I just read an article the other day that said they are thinking about changing the serving size labels to fit what people actually eat instead of what they eat. So, in the example above, the coke zero bottles will no longer say a serving is 8 oz it'll say 1 serving is the entire bottle. I think the…
  • Coffee helps too.

  • I haven't read the other replies so I don't know if I'm repeating what someone already said...I apologize if I am. When I had this problem years ago I thought I was doing everything right. I figured I might be underestimating calories I was eating, but because I was logging it wasn't too far off. What I didn't realize, was…
  • Here's the email I just sent to my mom about last night's dinner (she was with me and she too is struggling to lose weight).. "So I’m at lunch break and decided to look at Bertucci’s menu to see how many calories are in the pizza since I’m going to have a slice for dinner. According to their website, one slice of the large…
  • I think I am going to start having to do this. Especially if I'm noticing that I don't have as much self control as I thought I had.
  • Thank you! This post really helped me. I think this is what I need to do...switch my thinking. I'm always asking myself do I need it and the answer is no. Then I say I want it, but now I need to tell myself (not ask but tell) what I want more and that is to lose weight and be healthy. I need to go back to what I did before…
  • You hit the nail on the head. This is what I'm struggling with. Yes regaining discipline is what I have to do. I have to...and that's that. There is great advise in this forum and I'm thankful for everyone's advice and support. Edited to correct
  • Welcome back to MFP! You can do this. Feel free to add me for support. :flowerforyou:
  • Yes, this is exactly what I'm going through. I am definitely going to start fresh today. Also, I like the idea of boxing up the portion before the meal and I might start doing that. I always have enough left that I do box up after the meal, but I might not be boxing up as much as if I did it before.
  • This is really great advise and is kind of what I did. It was my mom, our friend, my son, and I. I didn't eat too fast because I would break to feed him or help him with his stickers. This helped for me to feel satisfied early, so I'm just upset that I recognized this and didn't stop eating. When I looked back at patterns…
  • Congrats on hitting ONEderland!! :flowerforyou:
  • ^This. I like using the program especially the 5 mile walk. If I'm short on steps for the day, that'll get me the 10k I am looking for.
  • ^^This is success. Don't worry about the scale for now. When it's not cooperating, put it in time out for another month. One of these days it'll listen  :flowerforyou: Good luck to you and don't give up!
  • Hans Zimmer - "The Kraken"
  • Lost some weight so far, but still have over 50 lbs to lose. Feel free to add me
  • For me, I noticed that I'll lose 5-10 pounds for a couple of months and then not lose anything for 1-2 months then lose another 5-10 pounds, etc etc. Before, I would give up once I hit that stall and then gain back the five pounds and then some (this went on for years leading to me being the weight I am). It's only been…
  • Sleep. And bacon sounds good too.
  • Funny this topic came up. I actually am going to be over my calories today as well. Our office bought lunch today and even though I filled half my plate with salad, I'm still going to over calories because of the other food on my plate (a small serving of eggplant parm and penne pasta with vodka sauce). Oh, and a chocolate…
  • ^This. When I worked on my diet first without exercising I lost weight more consistently; then I was able to add exercising into my routine and continue to lose weight. But before when I did both at the same time, it took almost 2 months before the weight started coming off. Almost as if my body was in shock because I was…
  • Not sure if anyone replied, but I had this happen. I went to my local jeweler and they put a ring guard on for only $3. It's just flimsy metal that you could adjust/remove with pliers when you need to.
  • I struggle with this as well. The only thing that helped me get 10k steps per day was doing Leslie Sansone's 5 mile walk at home. Otherwise I don't hit 10k but more like 6-7k a day. I've started lifting at home and going on our elliptical. I don't hit 10k steps a day, but I'm losing inches and I've lost a couple of pounds.…
  • I was wondering the same thing...
  • Funny I was looking to see if there was any news of when Fitbit was going to come out with the next product in their line and I saw an article about how Garmin wants to catch up with a similar product to Fitbit. It tracks steps, sleep, heart rate, and more. It's called Vivofit. Here's the link if you want to check it out:…
