Well, if it helps, I've been on hiatus for a few months, and just started logging again about 5 min ago.... So yay us!!

DAMN. Well, that just helped me justify my recent calorie increase, as I started to feel like crap trying to weight train 3x/week on 1380. DAMN.

Look up a few of your favorite dishes you know they'll have.... you may be suprised at what you can fit in. Even though it's definitely not my best habit, if we're strapped for time or feeling particularly lazy, we'll hit up our local (and AWESOME) chinese or japanese take-out, and even though there are lots of…

I'm with you on that one... Still paying off the debt, not to mention it ruined my cholesterol and my gallbladder is now a ticking time bomb... That was about 5 years ago. Never again.

I agree with this 100% - Things you find in the regular database simply aren't there.

YAY! I'm so glad to hear you're doing well!!! :)

THANK you for this question, OP.... I literally switched yesterday to the TDEE-20% method. I found that I was so groggy after workouts the past few weeks (plus two colds)... couldn't figure out why. Then wondered if the 2lb/week goal was now too aggressive (can it be??? lol) and started yesterday. I can tell you that my…

I have been using MFP for 4 months now, pretty religiously. My goals were set for 2lbs/week loss, and I started weight training two days in. I would log exercise calories and eat them back on training days. However, lately, I found that my energy levels were starting to drop, so two days ago, I calculated TDEE -20%, and…

Just my two cents - it took me almost two months to get proper kettlebell form (knee and back injury), and although I'm a strong believer in not increasing weight too fast (bc of my previous back issues), I'll tell you that when I finally went up in weight, the form got better. My trainer told me that if they're too light,…

I personally like it, but there's a LOT of people who don't. Just a suggestion, but I recently bought the little gadget that turns zucchini into pasta ribbons.... Of course it doesn't taste like pasta, but we put some homemade marinara on it the first time, then tried my boyfriend's low-cal version of an alfredo (it's…

CONFIDENCE. I can't wait. This is a weird one, but to look good in pictures. As silly as this is, I often dislike how I look when photographed, and it sort of puts a damper on so many good memories... and I HATE that.

Honestly? I thought I would just be told to suck it up and count it all, or made fun of for not knowing. The answer alone makes me smile. :)

I agree - we've actually just made stuff up from time to time, and I add things (or don't) when I see the numbers creep up. I'm not a fan of bottled marinades, but the BF loves them, so we try to do both.

That's actually a great idea. Thanks!

I am loving on this extra hard bc 217 was exactly my starting weight, 165 is my goal weight, and because of how supercute that dress is.... I kinda want one (I know you got it as a present, too!) I look at you, and can imagine what my before and afters might look like, so exciting!

Hey, I couldn't find this post to check in with you, but I just found the search option :) How did the surgery go? I hope not too badly, hope the pain is under control. I know you're still in recovery, but best of luck for physio... it's not particularly fun, but keep your head up, you'll do great. As far as the 3 month…

New tattoo.... just haven't decided yet if I'm waiting until goal, or some point inbetween

Pasta - Not that I didn't know there were a lot of calories, just that I didn't realize how small serving sizes really were. And I used to eat it ALL THE TIME, thinking it was better than a lot of other options. Olive Oil - again, not that I didn't know it was pure fat, but how much you have to factor in while cooking…

I had to have what I called the "remedial squats" too! I can sort of relate to the OP, I have had two knee surgeries recently, so most of what I do is modified.... although I'm very lucky that the trainers and people I know have been very supportive and understanding in the fact that some things I simply can't do, I can…

Heck, I'll do it too!! It'll get me close to ultimate goal! Name: Millie Starting Weight/Date: 217 - January 2014 Current Weight/Date: 194 - May 9, 2014 Goal Weight/Date: 174 - September 9, 2014

I think this person said it better than I did!

I'm in the healthcare field (overweight, so it's hard to practice what you preach), but a lot of times the message also includes this: Like you said, there are plenty of people who suddenly and tragically die from, for example, heart conditions who seem perfectly healhty (ie: runners), and unfortunately, a lot of times…

Soup is my ultimate comfort food. I was a Campbell's kid from an early age. Now, I do make my own, and what's great is that the recipes can be tinkered with a lot to make them lower cal, and they're very forgiving. I don't know if I can say it has helped with my weight loss per se', but it's awfully nice if your 'comfort…

Sometimes people tease goodnaturedly, "So does that thing zap you if you eat something wrong?" Sometimes people shake their head and say it's making things harder than they need to be. Most people, though, at first think it's crazy, but when I explain that I'm also working out, they seem to think that since it's part of a…

OP, I was in your shoes. I was very nervous about how I'd be perceived, and my best friend told me over and over that when it comes time, he won't care about a little chubbiness. Everyone looks better lying down anyway. It always held me back, for the longest time. Even after we'd done it, I was still always silently…

100% agree. I used to obsess about being 'thin' and never gave a thought about my health. I tried all sorts of crash diets, and one of the ones that worked, made me sick. It wasn't until I read a few articles of plus-sized models that I changed my thought process. These women worked out, ate healthy, and were beautiful and…

On Friday, attending a work conference (you know, the ones where they feed you ALL day and there's breakfast, lunch, and a cocktail hour?) at a nice hotel. Had plans for dinner and a movie directly after. Managed to stay away from all the snacks and desserts (oh, huge cookie, how you beckoned). Only went over slightly on…

hey, YOU know what you accomplished, so you know how good you should feel about it! I had to post here, because my boyfriend laughs at how when he asks me how my workout was, my answer is almost always, "I feel RAWRS!" A gal after my own heart. I hope to continue (3 months of strength training in), and follow in your…

As someone who went from toughing out 'back pain' to a ruptured disc, I say that you just need to take it easy. If walking lightly feels ok, then sure. Anti-inflammatories and ice are your friend, but if you said that you feel "catching or pulling", then it might not hurt to maybe get a quick exam to make sure there are no…
