This is a good article about exercise and weight loss, that more importantly links to the actual studies instead of just saying "a recent study". I don't eat mine back unless I'm really weak and hungry because it is way too hard to accurately determine how many calories I burned.…

I understand. I coach high school football, and I wouldn't recommend my players to join PF, for those reasons. They do tons of compound movements and PF is not equipped for that. However, for someone like me, who has RA in remission, it's a great place for me to do high rep low weight exercises. Again, it's just about the…

And actually, I think you are right. At my PF, I see guys and girls from every fitness level. The larger muscle people are making gains doing their workout, just like the larger non-muscle people like me are working hard to lose weight. The argument for/against PF is just tiring and not constructive. I was just trying to…
-
So the takeaway: If you want to to make gains in mass, don't go to PF. It doesn't have the equipment or weights for you to really do that. However, if you are looking for a place to do light weights (which for me and my RA is perfect) and cardio, it's a great place to work out. In the end, the only thing that matters is…

A friend had great success with it. I thought about doing it, then I looked at what I was getting for the price. I can buy and make all that stuff a lot cheaper with smart shopping.

Starbucks coffee for the most part is horrible unless you add all the sugar flavors to it. The best things to get are fresh fruit and water. And cake pops if you are splurging.

My wife and I are on the middle of week 6 and we suffered our first set back. It's not us. It's the air. There is a march fire in New Orleans East which is affecting the whole metro area. There have been air quality warnings daily. Today is the first day we have access to a treadmill so we should be able to run finally.

I make ground turkey pasta with it...we never eat spaghetti (the noodle) because it's too messy.
-
I wouldn't do the same exercise everyday, but cross training should be fine especially since you want to do it. Think more of it as giving muscles rest instead of your body. If you did lots of lowerbody work one day do upper the next or cardio one day weightlifting the next.

There are a couple of places that serve gator burgers in New Orleans but a gator Poboy is way better especially the one at jazz Fest. I love hogs head cheese; its sold at my local farmers market. To me the weirdest thing I've eaten is dried shrimp especially since the dry them with the peelings. It tastes sea water.

Just did w5d3! It felt great. Roughest part was not having any device to tell me when to stop...just had my wife yell at me. We both are shocked that we did it.

The sodium is used to preserve it. Most of that stuff is made somewhere else and then shipped to the individual stores. If each restaurant cooked from scratch each Applebees would taste completely different.

Also diagnosed with HBP, I mostly eat vegetarian until supper. I don't do it every day, but I've been consciously trying to make breakfast and lunch vegetarian. It's helped with my blood pressure and my waistline. It also helps me buy higher quality meats since I'm eating less of it.

Day one wasn't that bad but we did do it twice. The mental part is the hard part about going up to eight in day 2 and then doing the full 20 on day 3. I think we can do it; my wife is more cautiously optimistic.

Great job!!!! Will be 3 years for me on the 10th of next month. And as hard as weight loss can seem, quitting smoking is harder so that is a great nsv! You will get back on track soon.

My wife and I are doing week 5 day 2. I figured if we can past week 5 we can finsih this.

Look up local running shoes stores in your area. My wife and I went to one called Varsity sports in New Orleans.
-
I've also used Zero water which is actually a purifing system. It worked well in that regard but we had the dispenser kind not the pour kind and it kept leaking.
-
That's exactly what I was thinking while i was there...and I tried out more shoes than Harry did wands. I spent a hundred on mine but i had budgeted that much. It was also one of the first questions my salesperson asked me. It might not be bad running in your shoes for the first few weeks but it's something to think about…
-
It's hard to say about shoes without seeing you run...that's why I agree with person who said get to a local running store so they can analyze your gait. At a local running store, the shoes always pick you not the other way around.
-
I usually make mine with frozen berries, lactaid milk, protein powder, spinach, and flaxseed oil or powder (depends on what I have). Sometimes I add a banana and some Gatorade powder (orange).

We just use tap through a Britta filter.

Congrats! My wife and I are on week 5 right now. We plan on doing a 5 k as part of our training (meaning run/walk) with our first real 5k on Oct 1 in Disney world. We love training together. We too quit it before so I find your story very inspiring. Good luck!
-
I love them too. I just went to an international market and bought one can of every kind they had. They are cheap too!
-
Good luck! My wife and I are on week 5 and we love doing it. Feel free to add me and her (olpbabe).

Scrambled two eggs with a little sarrachi(sp) sauce made a sandwich on whole wheat with some cherry tomatoes on the side.
-
Great job!...btw I will be estatic if I'm under 40 minutes for my first but my ultimate goal is a 30 minute 5k

I watch the cooking channel and then make a smoothie.
