Do you eat sardines?

I think I had them twice in my life, when I was a lot younger, don't know why I don't eat them more.

Perhaps it's the "Eww Sardines" comment you hear from everyone?

In my never ending pursuit to find new, healthier foods, I found some today packed in olive oil and thought I would give them a try.

Not only are they loaded with protein, 21 grams in that little tin, but they were actually pretty darned good ;)

I was actually born without a sense of smell, so I can't attest to that, but my wife turned her nose when she smelled them in the kitchen ;)

I will be adding sardines to my weekly grocery list however, what a great little meal loaded in a small package.

I love them too. I just went to an international market and bought one can of every kind they had. They are cheap too!

if you can get a hold of them, fresh sardines (and mackerel, very similar) simply grilled or with a touch of lemon or chilli are amazing. the little tins are great & i always have some in the house but the fresh stuff is amazing :)

Lol, I certainly didn't hit 300+ without being able to taste. Apparently that myth is busted ;)
  • They're a really good non-dairy source of calcium if you get Atlantic sardines with the bones & skin included. The kind I get has 70% RDA of calcium in one 3-ounce tin.

i love them too! Always have a stash of the tins in my desk drawer at work, at home, even in my purse LOL... I enjoy the sardines in mustard sauce best, with olive oil and cracked pepper triscuits. TONS of protein that keeps me feeling full for hours...
