  • Add me, I'm looking to add a few new friends for sone fresh inspiration!
  • Definitely very active!
  • I'm not sure there's an easy answer to staying on track but I've found the simple process of logging is the surest way to long term loss. That said, life has a habit of intervening and there are good spells and bad spells - and in a bad spell you can quickly undo an awful lot of good work! I think losing weight starts with…
  • Feel free to add me - I've been on this journey for four years now, and am in a rut having gained back about 15lbs following a 50lbs loss. I need to reinvigorate my approach! I don't tend to operate with big numbers of friends on here as I prefer to have just a few, better quality relationships where the support is easier…
  • Feel free to add me, I started at 235 and got to 186, but I've had a bad year and am about 205, so I've been through the ups and downs of the journey! Just getting my focus back and these boards are great inspiration! You absolutely can do it!
  • It's a good observation, and I can see both sides of it. Your friend sounds like he's in that happy zone where everything's going well, and the weight is coming off nicely. What I've learnt over four years is that you have good times, and bad times and during those bad periods you can undo an awful lot of great work!…
  • Absolutely tremendous transformation! You've done a wonderful job so far, and good luck with the rest!
  • It's a difficult question to answer. At it's simplest, losing weight is really easy, it's just about consuming less calories than your body needs and over time the weight comes off. But finding the right way of achieving this in a way that works for you personally is always harder. I guess it has to start with an honest…
  • Really interesting to read your story. It's amazing how health issues can affect metabolism. I'm really pleased that you're feeling in better shape these days and let's hope your great progress continues!
  • Feel free to add me. Been on MFP for a year now and will certainly offer whatever support and advice I can!
  • There's a lot of great support out there on MFP, feel free to add me.
  • Be careful not to set an overly ambitious calorie target at the start. You should set your target weight loss at a sensible level (1-2lbs) and this should give you a reasonable calorie intake. I guess if you're feeling really really hungry then something might need tweaking? Too many 'empty' calories perhaps? Certainly…
  • I don't worry too much about the day to day swings; sometimes under, sometimes over. It's probably better to look at the week.
  • You can expect dramatic losses at the start, and it will mainly be water. As you continue to make progress the rate loss will slow up. I'd recommend you try to aim to lose about 1-2 lbs a week. It's not a race, and as you get closer to your goal things can really slow up. I've plateaued for about six months, partly because…

  • Many, many congratulations on your progress Mark, it's truly amazing what you've achieved and I'm sure there still more to come over the next year! I love the approach you've adopted and have found that it works in a similar way for me too.
  • 200 days today! And I have a friend who's just hit 965 days!
  • Feel free to add me. been on MFP since january, and it's great!
  • Well said, you've achieved an amazing amount, and we're not machines. I recently took a week off as I was on holidays and went completely off the rails! Anyway, i weighed myself on my return and was 4.5 lbs up. Turned out it was mostly water, and I lost it all back within a week.
  • Feel free to add me! I live in Standish, near Wigan, and erm, yeah i confess to eating real food, and drinking beer.
  • it's lush! With brown sugar and butter melted on top. My mum used to make it for us as a kid. Hmmm, now I think about it that's how I ended up needing to be on here!
  • Can't calculate anything without your stats. That said, the numbers don't look crazy. At that rate you would lose maybe 1-1.5 lbs a week, which seems fine. make sure you eat a decent proportion of your exercise calories back, or you'll be hungry and more susceptible to binges.
  • I'd suggest you set your goals through MFP. At 130 lbs today, you've not got a vast amount of weight to lose. People that are more overweight at the start find it easier, initially to lose quickly, but this will slow up as you get leaner. The standard method is to take your TDEE less 20%. Assuming you're sedentary, then…
  • OK, firstly it sounds like you're a classic yo-yoer. Try one thing, give up. Try something else. Give up again. I think a lot of people on these boards know how you feel. There's a saying I read the other day that kind of sum s it up - 'If you're forever tired of starting over, stop quitting!.' Losing weight at a sensible,…
  • Hi Kaylyn, It's great that your fiancé wants to go on this journey with you, so hopefully you can offer each other moral support. I think you should just find whatever work-out fits within your schedule. Having a young child and working night-shifts does make it hard to find the right quality time, but it can be done i'm…
  • 'Move more. Eat less'
  • Love it!
  • Very normal by the sound of it. You will lose plenty at the start, but expect in the longer run to be about 1 lb per week, and even then you may hit the odd plateau. if you do, just stick with it, and you'll come through it just fine. Not sure how much you're looking to lose but let MFP calculate it for you. Unless you're…
  • Stick with it, you're doing really well! I started in a similar position to you at 244 lbs, and i'm now at 203 lbs. You've lost 25 lbs, which is significant, and it will be showing for sure, but there's still a good way to go. I look at myself and still see more to come off. i guess we all get a little self-critical and…
