Congrats on your first race!! I, too, ran my very first 5k this past May (on Mother's Day -- my gift to ME!!), one week shy of my 45th birthday. Like you, I was very emotional, knowing that I had accomplished something HUGE for myself. My family & friends were there to cheer me on and it was truly a moment I will never…

Ditto!! Congrats on your success thus far! Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much for that comment on my arms!! I need to start some upper body toning, but thanks for noticing!
-
Definitely success!! Congrats!

I did read your whole story -- maybe I'm strange like that... I love READING the stories, and then the pics are just a bonus. I know all too well what a struggle it is with oneself to actually get to that point in realizing that what we're doing to ourselves (emotional binge eating) is just not cutting it for the long…

I agree with the previous poster -- run when it's convenient for YOU! I typically like to run in the mornings, but I see runners going by my house pretty much all hours of the day/evening. It's whatever works best for you, your schedule, your preference, etc.

I have also found that my HRM is usually from from what my treadmill and what MFP tells me the numbers of cals burned are. I use the numbers from my HRM so that it's consistent. I don't usually eat back my calories anyways, unless I'm super starving, and I've had good, steady weightloss results. I guess you just need to…

Excellent progress!! Keep up the great work!

Yes. I followed the recommended daily calories as per MFP, but I did increase my protein intake than what MFP recommends, especially on the days that I exercise. I didn't consistently eat back my exercise calories, either, but I lost at a rate of about 1.5 lbs/week.

Thanks, everyone, for the support and encouragement. I've gotten so much inspiration and motivation from the other "success stories" here on MFP, I decided I needed to share my own so far. My journey continues!!

Amazing what our kids can motivate us to do, right? LOL And yes, just cutting out the junk food and moving has made such a huge difference for me. Now, instead of snacking in front of the tv in the evening, I walk on the treadmill while I watch tv.

Awesome transformation! The pics definitely speak for themselves! Congrats!

Sorry... pics didn't work. Will try to sort it out.

Fabulous results!!

Good job!! Keep up the hardwork. It is clearly going to be very rewarding!!

Great job! I know what you mean about not realizing how the weightloss has changed your looks until you see it in pictures! Congrats!

I'm 5'10" and started at 220. I'm now at 173 and I feel so much better, but my ultimate goal is to get to 150 and see how it feels. I weighed 145-150 until I was about 23, then put on pounds and pounds until I hit 30. I was around 190, then I had 2 kids, 4 years apart. Between "reward" eating (I'm a nurse, so whenever I…

Awesome run! Good for you! My best running buddy and I always say that running is 90% mental and 10% physical. Glad to see so many agree with that principle. The hardest part is getting out the door, like you said, but once out there, it's awesome to have that kind of run!

Coming in on day 2, but I did manage to get in a walk yesterday on my lunch break at work and then did my treadmill walking today. Here's my progress so far: 8/1 -- 158/6842 8/2 -- 523/6319 I will probably go over the 7000 for the month, but I really have no idea how much to predict, so I'll still with that as my challenge…

Awesome!! Such a great feeling!

You look fabulous! Congrats on the amazing results of your hard work!
-
Fabulous! Keep up the good work!

Exactly what I was thinking. "Running is cheaper than therapy." Maybe she needs to run a few full marathons. LOL Seriously, though, she SHOULD take up running! Maybe it will finally turn her life around for the better.

I have a Magic Bullet. I make my smoothies with it. That's about it. As far as having weight loss success while using it, well, it's only a very small tool in the whole process!! I've had much more weight loss success using my treadmill than my magic bullet. LOL

I've also been consuming between 100-200 gms of carbs daily since I started MFP in January and I've lost 47 lbs so far. I've upped my protein intake, however, and I find that helps much more in maintaining muscle and losing weight.

Such great success!! Congrats. I love your no-nonsese attitude about the whole process. Kudos for taking charge of your life and becoming a healthier you! Keep up the great work!
-
So inspiring!! Congrats on your amazing journey and success so far. Keep up the great work!!
-
Not just you. My gf and I joke about it all the time because we are both on a weightloss journey and we're looking more and more like a bobblehead!! LOL

You definitely need a new passport picture because you don't look the same at all!! Congrats on your success. Keep up the good work!
