Thanks for all the encouragement and thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. This is a tough struggle especially this time of year. Today is Thanksgiving. Lots to be thankful for and lots of food to face down. 999Tigger and slimgirl63 are right, though. I just gotta come out of retirement and get going, again.…

Thanks for all the great input and feedback. I'm kinda conflicted about all this. I'm 302 (this morning) and I really need to do something. Really. My primary MD says "eat less and exercise more" (the magic formula) but that's easier said than done. I connected with a DO (osteopath) who is more holistic about a neck…

Thanks! I found the Fitbit tracker under the apps tab and set it up. It'll be interesting to see how is syncs with MyFitness Pal. Edit -- I just checked the Fitbit site and it sync'd perfectly. The food I entered in MyFitnessPal ended up on the Fitbit food log. Love it!

Thanks, Sabine321. The Missus is after me to get a mower (I use a service to mow the lawn now). Maybe next spring! KritalandVi - Yeah. Age shouldn't matter.

Thanks. Starwberrytoa: I tried that once. You'd be surprised how many people *don't* fix treadmills. One guy came over and lubed it and said it was fine. I get what you're saying about iTunes and shoes, tho...and feeling good about doing it. Wish it was enough to get me going. KristalandVZi: Might try the bike. The…

I've been looking at this option, too. I tried Isagenix before and couldn't stick with it. I've been seeing a lot of Body by Vi on Facebook and now Beach Body/Shakeology (which I've heard about, in passing, but never looked into) on this Board. I'm not really into the MLM part of the thing and I don't want to spend a lot…

Dude, it is sooo right. I am just starting (again, for the hundredth time) and I am also married with no intention of becoming un-married. It would be great to think I still "had it" especially since I'm not as young as I used to be. A little flirtation or "You look great" or whatever from women would be great motivation.

I'm thinking that 1200 calories a day is pretty low. Your body is probably trying to "conserve" energy and food. This may seem counter intuitive but some days after I just go crazy and eat what I want which might include some junk and, for some reason, my weight goes down. I just can't make it a habit because I'll start to…

Thanks, all! I was actually talking about the person scale. I haven't gotten to the point I need a kitchen scale. I can barely make toast. :blushing:

I take it with a grain of salt. I totally agree that eating ads (I see one for Ruby Tuesday on this page as I type) is not the best choice but my guess is that they're AdSense ads and, thus, are being fed (so to speak) to the site automatically because of the content (i.e., food and eating and dieting). I tend to block out…

This is sad. 29 is way to young to die from something so preventable. Perhaps he was a "gentle giant" as described in the story. He would have been equally as gentle with a body weight that would have prolonged his life. There but for the grace of God.....

I use Sketchers Shape-Ups. They work to get you to walk heel-to-toe. They're a bit springy but they're really comfortable. A little over $100 - http://bit.ly/fICntr

I started blogging about my weight reduction journey, in earnest, around the beginning of the year. The blog had other topics on it previously but I decided to dedicate it exclusively to my weight reduction journey. http://justanotherrumor.com

More water might help jump start the process. The time of day you put the last piece of food in your mouth might have an effect, too. I tend to try and stay away from food much after 7:00pm and I really try for 6:30. That gives your body a chance to digest and burn off some of the late day calories. High fiber foods might…

More power to you! The secret formula, of course, is to burn off more calories than you take in. So walking helps even if it's just burning off a few calories that might otherwise turn into more weight (fat). Personally, keeping up with exercise is the hardest part, for me. Plus, I have a terrible sweet tooth. Buying…

I'm a candidate for arthroscopic surgery because of a torn meniscus in my left knee. My physician says it'll be 8-10 weeks after surgery to get back to the gym. He tells me upper body work is the way to go. Not a very satisfying answer.
