Elle...I will be 70 years young on February 6th. I came to MFP weighing more than 270 pounds, and that was not my highest weight. I was living the life of a cripple, forced to stay in a wheelchair, because I had destroyed both of my knees. In the past 2 years, I have stayed with MFP and lost 124 pounds. After losing the…

That is wonderful. You are such a beautiful, little lady. I didn't even realize that there is a size ZERO. I am thrilled to even be in a size 12, but I got so used to being in the 4X category.

You are in the same place that I was in 2012, except I was way more than 140 in high school. I was a real chubbette. I was 185 pounds at age 15. As for 3 pounds, you can do that and another 10 in no time at all. Just fill out your food diary ahead of time and make a commitment to stick to it.

Putting some smaller size clothes into your closet makes sense. They are there to keep you reaching for a better weight. I have 6 tops that I bought on sale for $7.00 each. They are still in the packages that they came in, because they are one size too small. I expect to be wearing them within the next month or two. Then,…

That is funny. For a moment, I thought, "PHOTOSHOPPED!!!??? If I knew how to photo shop, those photos would have made me look a lot younger and thinner."

I was contacted today by one of the MFP staff, stating that People Magazine might be interested in interviewing me for the annual "half their size" feature. I told the MFP staff that I would be glad to help, if I was chosen. HOWEVER, I sure hope that they aren't thinking of using photos like the ones in this post in a…

That's not crazy. We lose weight all over our body. I had to have all my rings resized, because my fat fingers got skinner; and my rings were falling off my fingers. Even my wristwatch is slipping down my arm again. I will need to take out some links in the band again real soon.

Boney bits...Love it! I so was excited, when I discovered that I could FEEL my rib cage and my hip bones after so many years. Thanks for reminding me of those great moments.
-
Oops! Yes, I did mean 161 pounds. Thanks for showing me that typo. I would be crying, if I were 261 pounds again.

I will pray that you NEVER have to have that surgery. It is not easy. Recovery is long and painful. My double knee replacement surgeries were in December, and my knees still hurt. I can get up and walk without fear of fracture; but when I am up for too long, both knees really fuss at me.

At my age, there is little hope of having the skin tighten up to what it was in my youth. Happily, my stomach did not sag as badly as it might have. My huge belly used to lay over my thighs and hid my pubic area completely. The belly could have become an equal big apron hanging to my knees. Though my stomach skin is loose,…

3 meals and snacks each day is normal for me. I eat 1100 to 1200 calories per day...regular food, including things like pizza, ice cream and many other favorites. I just make sure to have them within my calories for the day.

I know 5 people who had gastric surgery (bypass, sleeve, etc). One had complications, before the surgery could even be completely. She went into a coma during surgery and stayed in a coma for weeks. She will not be trying that again. 3 of my friends and family had the surgery and lost more than 100 pounds each. All 3 of…

You must have been looking over my shoulder.

I can't use that excuse anymore. I discovered that I had to get passed all my excuses about age, post menopausal women and my physical limitations, before I could even get started. I was a wheelchair bound, morbidly obese woman of 67, when I came to MFP. I had spent most of my life making excuses for WHY I COULDN'T LOSE…

June of 2013 - My first swimsuit in 50 years was a size 20, and I weighed 216 pounds. My sweet hubbie Ed thought that I was beautiful. Thank God, he sees me through the eyes of a man in love. Today, I got my newest swimsuit. It is a size 14, and I weigh 160 pounds. My hubbie still sees me as his 'beautiful bathing beauty'.
-
Go get yourself a swimsuit, Sis. I just got another one yesterday. I am heading for the pool this hour. It feels so good to be in the water. There is so much joy and freedom in swimming.

I hit plateaus from time to time; and it can be frustrating to see little to no progress; but also know that I must kept going, because the day will come, when I will start losing. If I give up in the hard times, I will only go backward and feel even worse. The month of July was a very tough month for me with little weight…

Jealous??? You have lost more weight than me! You have no be jealous of me. We are on this long, hard road together.
-
Bump.
-
Absolutely, Sis. I know who to thank in and out of season.
-
My sweet hubbie loved your comment about me being a 'total bad-*kitten*'. He said, "He must know you. I thought that I was the only one who knew that you are not some sweet, little, old granny...but a really dangerous lady."
-
I am so glad that so many of you find inspiration in the progress and story of an old lady. Many folks look at MFP as a site for young folks and people dedicated to working out. I do NOT fit into that model of the MFP member. I am a representative of the older crowd on MFP, many of whom are not physically able to do a…

I know that it is scary, but DO IT. You will be so grateful for those photos later on. You don't have to post them, but keep them for yourself. They help you to honestly see your own body.
-
Really? I think that the date is July 29, 2014. Am I wrong?
-
-
Okay. You got me. I laughed out loud at that OBVIOUS SUGGESTION. I am sure that my hubbie would feel that was the 'perfect solution'; but then, I wouldn't get much sleep.

Hi, Sue. I am Sue too. I have about 20 pounds left, until I reach my final goal of 140 pounds. I have had many days, when all I could do was watch the scale bounce between 2 and 5 pounds one way and the other. However and eventually, the weight does go down. My own MFP trip of more than 18 months has seen me slowly…

Yes, I understand. I used to have to ask for a seatbelt extender to even fastener my seatbelt; and quite often, I was PAINFUL squeezed into most airplane seats, between the armrests. I never could afford the comfort, roomy, first class seating. Yes, Nancy. You and all my MFP friend are included in my prayers each evening,…
