You're my hero!

I have a 23-year-old son on the spectrum. We consider ourselves very lucky that he is fairly high functioning. He was a horrible student but continues to try to go to school. He takes classes in the evening since he has managed to hold a full-time job for several years. Most of his issues are manifested as learning…

I actually think that thinking of foods as "diet" foods is destructive and leads to failure. I eat the exact same foods I did before, just less of them. If you categorize foods as "diet" or "good" or "bad" I think you're asking for trouble.

You're just now figuring this out? LOL. But, seriously, I completely agree. However, no one is holding a gun to your head to make you clean your plate in a restaurant. I don't eat out a lot so I don't feel too bad treating myself; however, I make sure I run an extra day (or two) that week. And I often order from the "small…

There's no magic bullet, you just have to "do it". I never really understood the NIke slogan until I started the C25K three years ago. I've actually done it twice, both times successfully. I had to start over after a badly sprained ankle. You really just have to do it. Sounds like you're having anxiety attacks almost and…

Cheetos, Bugles, Cheese-its, Fiddle-Faddle, etc. Anything you can scoop up by the handful and munch on.

South County girl here. Lindbergh H.S. grad. Go Flyers!

Don't get discouraged! I did C25K three years ago and had bad days too. I used to just start the week over until I felt I had really conquered that time. You didn't fail. There are a zillion reasons why one day the run is easy and the next time you go out it may suck. I had a week like that last week, in fact. One day I…

I've been running for about 3 years now after completing the C25K program. I had hip shenanigans on and off for a while and never really figured out what it was. These exercises (and getting OUT of Nikes and into Brooks shoes) changed my life -- 1) Hip extension on all fours. On all fours, extend one leg back behind you,…

I rarely eat the calories back that I burn off. I think it's counterintuitive. But the closer you get to your goal weight you have to lower expectations. I've lost 27 and would like to lose at least 5 more but the scale has been pretty stuck for a while no matter what I do. I've just resigned myself to the fact that the…

I did the program three or four years ago and I know what you're talking about. You were either running to fast or anxiety got you. Don't think about it - just do it. Job and talk to yourself. You should be able to hold a conversation. Every so often. Just start talking. Experts describe it as "breathless conversation".…

Gorgeous! You could even stand to gain a few pounds to be honest. You've definitely got wiggle room. :)

I've always wondered why more guys don't go in for laser hair removal. My sons hate shaving and my oldest is considering it because he thinks he'd look stupid with a beard or moustache anyway. P.S. You look fabulous. Good work!

I feel the same way. Everyone's body and circumstances are different. You have to do what's right for you. And if all these condescending know-it-alls are "fitness experts" why are they even here? LOL.
-
You only have 13 pounds to lose. You could probably get by just judging by your clothing. When you go down a size, you're there.
-
I have high arches and run and I use insoles. You should maybe thing about going to a running store for an evaluation. It could just be that you're wearing shoes. And, P.S., do it sooner than later because once your feet start hurting your entire body will start to hurt. Knees and hips will be next, trust me.

You should ALWAYS freeze LD Swiss Cake Rolls and Ding Dongs. Should be mandatory.

OMG - this totally takes me back to when I was a kid. When I was in high school I used to come home and make myself a fried bologna and American cheese sandwich. You sandwich cheese in between two slices of bologna, fry it, and put it on really soft white bread. You have to "notch" the meat so it lays flat in the pan. The…

I went from once a week to every morning and now I've started driving myself crazy so I'm back to once a week.

"I'll get the studies for you and post but i'm staying out of this conversation. Selfish moms piss me off." You should have stopped talking after the word "conversation". LOL. Women are not selfish because they choose not to breastfeed. Some women have to work and are unable to pump. I nursed both of my sons for over a…

OK, I know a little about this subject as I have an autistic child, a very hard of hearing child, and I breastfed both my sons for over a year. The eldest I breastfed for 15 months. The second son for a little over a year. The eldest had skin issues, stomach issues, ear infections, etc., etc. -- everything breastfed babies…

I gained 40 pounds with my first and lost 32 the first week I was home. The women in my family are circus freaks. I breastfed and the rest fell off quickly too. But everybody is different. I actually had a girlfriend who left the hospital wearing her pre-pregnancy jeans and she was like a size 2. I'm not kidding. I have…

Hey, Tina! I have a 23-year-old son on the spectrum. Sounds like you deserve a medal and a hug. Feel free to friend me.

You're my hero. I did the c25k about three years ago (I'm 55) and I'm still stuck at about an 11 minute mile. I can get it down to 9 minutes on a treadmill inside. Of course, I've never run just one mile and timed myself. Can you sustain that pace over a 5K? How did you get your speed up? How fast were you when you…

I find it really tedious unless I have a book to listen to on my MP3 so I feel your pain. It takes me forever to get to that endorphin tune-out phase and I've actually only gotten there a couple of times. I guess that's the elusive "runner's high" people brag about. My motivation is when I look at myself naked in the…

Let him do what he wants and when he figures out he can't lose weight drinking soda and juice he will make the change on his own.

I lifted ages ago for a while and got too bulky (for me) immediately. I build muscle really quickly for a woman so I have to limit how heavy I go.
-
What I REALLY like is when it's a guy my son's age and I tell them "honey, I've got blue jeans older than you". :)
-
Be logical - you're pounding your feet in crappy shoes. Are you actually surprised your feet hurt? LOL. Go to a running store and invest the money in a really great pair of shoes and don't settle for shoes that aren't comfortable immediately. They are the most important thing you will buy in terms of equipment. I wore used…
