I'm 4'10" and even to me 1100 seems a bit low. And if you have hit a plateau ... reducing calories is not the answer. Increasing activity is - no way to get around that one. But onto OP orig question, personally I always would rather go over in protein than carbs and carbs over fats. But it really just depends on what will…

Yup - I get it. When I first started maintaining I felt a little lost because I had no specific defined goal any more. The key to long term maintaining I think is to have some sort of secondary goals while the healthy habits are still settling in to your daily life. For me, my first maintaining goal was to beat the…

Hello & Welcome to MFP! Professional or for leisure? Do you pas de deux? hmmm this is a tough one because typically I'd recommend heavy doses of lean protein and heaping of veggies (not iceberg lettuce sort of veggies) like spinach, broccoli, kale. And keep complex carbs to a minimum. However since you are a dancer, you…

It's funny OP posted this as I just came across an article that I shared in my news feed. Here is a fantastic few tips from long term maintainers on the 'National Weight Control Registry' http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/14/weight-loss-maintenance-tips-success_n_6425542.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592 Pay particular…

CONGRATS first of all! Awesome job! And you are not alone. When I was heavy I did not even look in the mirror. Even after a yr & a half maintaining sometimes I still act like I'm still near 40 lbs heavier. ie. saying things like 'oh I can't pull that shirt off Im too heavy' then taking a moment for my brain to catch up to…

Input all your stats (height, wt, goal wt, etc) into MFP Have specific goal(s) whether it's healthier eating, lose weight, increase muscles etc. If you are struggling with MFP calorie intake get a second opinion here: iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ Best of luck to you!

Shouldn't this question be directed to your surgeon or primary physician??

+1 Gratz on quitting the smoking & drinking! There's a lot of calories saved just by doing that. Also, if you start to do some weights or weight bearing exercises like resistance training, a great way to maintain your heart rate (cardio) is to minimize the rests between sets. Best of luck to you!

The answer to OP's orig question is no ... as I am 4'10" and is about the size of the average 4 or 5th grader! LOL And I've maintained for coming up 2 years now in the range of 1300 - 1400. My current BMR is 967 & TDEE is 1457 (I workout 6 days a week). BMR is if I do nothing at all but lie in bed - breathing all day ...…

It may help to prioritize in accordance with your current goals For example, when I was losing weight I looked at my total calories intake first then I look at my macros - especially if I'm over in calories I can see where I am over in then make adjustments. ie. over in carbs look for the culprit & try to find healthier…

There are always ways to spin data in studies to prove the researcher's pov. And experts has debated for years on weighing everyday vs periodically and there are tons of studies to show benefits of both. How is that possible? Well because everyone is different with different needs & different methods will work for…

When I was losing I weigh everything that passed my lips. Now in maintaining, I still tend to weigh most things. Specifically in regards to OP's question about fruit & veggies: Fruit I weigh religiously - I monitor my macros now more than overall & since fruits are typically higher in calories, carbs, and sugar I still…

+1 When trying to lose weight exercise actually doesn't have as much impact as one may think. It's more about the quality of food and the quantity of food. If you are not already doing so, weigh everything that you're about to consume, drink more water, & make sure you are getting enough sleep. Also if you are currently…
