WOW - This is SO nice to see this oldie but goodie resurrected! :D Love everyone sharing their bits!

Spot on! In the long run there has to be a drive to not only lose the weight but to keep it off.

Calories is not the answer. Change up your workout routine. Reduce the duration of your cardio but max out the intensity. ie. if you are doing 45 min of cardio reduce it to 30 min but really work it. If you can carry on a conversation or leisurely read a book you're not maximizing your O2 expenditure. When I hit a plateau…

From my experience, MFP is pretty on par for the average person at the average height. (Men about 177 cm or 5'10" Women 163 cm or 5'4") When someone falls out of that range (very tall or very short) MFP recommendations is notoriously 'wonky.' I'd highly recommend getting a second opinion (TDEE) based on your level…

I took the middle # for a healthy BMI for my age & height and went from there. I know BMI is not a good indicator but it was an easy starting point to use as a goal. My goal only changed once from my original goal. Once I was a healthy weight for my stats I just went with it and made no huge adjustments & figure my body…

Being 'fin size' I'd caution not to go crazy with the calories upping. I'm 4'10" @94 lbs. :) As someone else has mentioned I'd HIGHLY recommend going here: iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ to calculate your TDEE and use that as a starting point. It will even give suggestion for macros. As others have also mentioned, do get…

This is entirely a personal preference and what works for you. When I was losing I weigh in religiously once a week. Now in maintaining once a month. Some people don't respond well to that little number on the scale and use alternative means to mark progress. Like recording your tape measurements, or full body selfies, or…

Cincinnati here - YAY! Especially the Cincinnati folks - feel free to add me ... I'm in maintaining though just FYI. :)

The human body is something like over 60% water so yes body weight will flux & is perfectly normal. Sometime all it takes is a tall glass of water to add a pound or two ... especially around the menstrual cycle. That is why it is important to always weight at the same time of day, same frequency, & same clothing (or lack…

People don't tend to ask 'how' we lose the weight because they know that it takes a lot of hard work and commitment over time ... something many are not willing to partake. The whole giving up sugar, carbs, *insert fad of the month* is solely to appease their own guilt for a lack of action on their part. I just smile…

Congrats & you DO look awesome ... period ... not 'look great for your age' nonsense. ;) I think it's really easy to get fixated on a particular number and anything less - we internalize it as a failure. The reality is that often times loosing the physical wait is the easy part & within a defined period of time. Our brains…

For me I did lose based on the automatic MFP recommendation. However, the rate of loss varied. In the first 9 or so months I lost at a faster rate than what MFP stated. Then the following 2-3 months I was at a slower rate than what MFP stated. The rest of the time I was fairly on par - after tweaking the eating & exercise.…

Depends if you want to loose wt in time for swimsuit season or are you looking to make this time around a true lifestyle change. Bad habits just as good habits are groomed over time and by repetition. So if you want a quick fix do it all at once because the reality is that rapid changes have difficult time sticking. But if…

Depends on the quality of the calories 10 extra calories in veggies or fruit - nope 10 extra calories in white bread or munchkin donut whole or some other sweets or processed foods - potentially - just because those foods tend to be quite the vicious cycle The more you eat it the more you want it

Congrats on your progress but ahhhm I think this is a question best answer by your physician or a professional nutritionist.

You are definitely not alone. :) I think everyone has their own kryptonite and in addition to not stocking temptations in the house (don't buy it) or pre-portioning, etc. you may want to try and figure out what you like about snack X and find a healthier alternative. For example, Fried Rice is THE one thing that I am…

It depends ... on what works for you & how your body works For me, I tried both in the beginning & it did nothing for me. So then I did straight cardio until I reached goal and only then did I start to incorporate weight bearing exercises. My body just didn't seem to respond to weights when I was trying to loose weight.…

First of all CONGRATS to you!! That's SO great! I actually did pretty much the same (gym, log, eat 90/10) so my weight was within the normal daily flux. (yea I'm boring like that)

When given the option of my typical go-to meal and French fries I opt for my go-to *holds up index finger & thumb in the shape of a 'L' on forehead*

Hello from across the pond & welcome to MFP! Best of luck to you!

Congrats on the progress you've already made! I think you're definitely on the right track. Try not to think of maintaining as the finish line (as many do) but more of another phase of your new lifestyle. Your mindset during maintaining will be a key factor in beating the statistical odds. Best of luck to you!

+1 One of those side effects of massive weight loss no one seem to mention. I am LITERALLY freezing ALL the time.

Hello & Welcome (back) to MFP?! lol What kind of games? And what kind of dance? Best of luck to you!

Hello & Welcome to MFP!

I feel the need to clarify ... No one can out-gym poor eating choices - there's just not enough hours in the day! lol For example on 1500 Calories:* 6 Donut Holes, Coffee w/Heavy cream & 3 sugars * Sandwich with Mayo on White Bread with chips and diet soda * Double hamburger plain with small fries May be under 1500 - so…
