  • Front rack is a big issue for me as well, one of many I need to start dedicating some time to fixing.
  • Kelly uses it and always has good things to say about it.
  • Try to cue yourself the whole time to keep your chest UP. That should help with the good morning and get you into better position. Overall not too bad, but clearly if your back is sore you need to tweak it a bit.
  • It's an extremely repetitive motion, so I'm guessing that is playing a role too.
  • If you do it long enough, you'll figure out through trial and error what works best. Just switch it up every once in a while to confuse your muscles and you should be fine.
  • You aren't going to be doing 5x5 with anything else, it's a very intense workout. I'd wrap up your 9 week program then jump in.
  • Great job!
  • I just created a cardio one and add it as 1 calorie. It's almost impossible to calculate the calorie burn because it's so different from workout to workout. I track my calories by calculating TDEE and eating at 20% under and don't subtract workout calories
  • So last night's WOD was 8RFT. 1 Rope climb, 10 kb swings, 20 walking lunges. Scaled the rope to six knees to elbows. The last round about killed me. Our coach did the last two rounds of lunges with me. I snuck in right under the 20 minute time cap. I hadn't pushed myself that hard in a while and felt like I was right at…
  • Haven't signed up yet but I will. I had a lot of fun with it last year even with my limitations. Will probably aim at scaled, but not sure yet.
  • Briggs looked very sharp at the ECC last weekend. She was also leading the pack in running over to cheer on athletes who were struggling. One woman got very upset because she kept getting no repped and was starting to lose it and Briggs grabbed her in a hug and talked her down and got her focused on the competition again.…
  • Nice, have fun!
  • They are fun, but I find that sometimes I tend to rebound from them for a week. Like eating all the foods because the challenge is so strict. I'm a week into a month long one right know at our gym, my goal coming off it is to find that happy medium and NOT pig out for a week afterwards.
  • I hear ya man. I'm the same. I'm usually near the end in finishing, though these days I chalk that up to doing much of the barbell movements Rx where many folks who finish ahead of me scale, and probably should not be scaling.
  • Per our previous conversation, it's safe to say the winner for the men will fall into the 5'8-5'11 height range and weigh 185-195 lbs. Women tend to vary more.
  • Once you max those out, easy enough to get heavier ones or kettlebells, which are also an excellent workout.
  • Losing weight is not a 30 day challenge, but a 30 day challenge is a great way to make meaningful, permanent changes to your diet.
  • Right, but that's a bit different than doing straight interval work, as you're holding a bit back for whatever comes after the run (at least that's how I do it)
  • Missed squats Monday because of the storm. Doing Bench and DL today, I might tack on Squats afterwards.
  • Don't forget some crazy piece of new equipment that Castro commissions from Rogue or one of the other sponsors. We've seen that two years running. The flipping sled and the sectioned log for the team events.
  • Just met Fraser this weekend at the East Coast Championships. He is looking extremely fit and said he was totally healthy when we chatted with him (my buddy got a photo with him AND with Annie btw) Froning competed in the Team Event on The Dream Team. Froning, Chris Spealler, Elizabeth Akinwale, Stacie Tovar. They didn't…
  • Having just started Eat To Perform, maybe you aren't eating enough carbs to fuel yourself through the full workout? Or maybe look at some mid-distance intervals (400 or 800m) and make sure the pace is uncomfortable (but not impossible) the whole time.
  • ^what part? I went to NC State for my undergrad. Hence the username....
  • ^You will destroy it and leave it weeping in your wake.
  • I don't know if you watch The Biggest Loser or Chris Powell's weight loss show, but Chris and Bob Harper are Crossfit fanatics and if you observe how they work out their clients it is CF 100% of the time....but CF is NEVER mentioned so they don't have to pay a licensing fee. You see plenty of free advertising for the gear…
  • This guy puts up billboards near me. It is Crossfit in all but name, I can tell from the equipment I can see through the windows. http://www.rayfit.com/
  • ^love it. Allan, we had an in-house comp this summer and had a snatch ladder. It was a row of barbells from 85 to 245 lbs in 10 lbs increments. You started at 85 and did the lift, stepped forward and did it again. You snatched until you could not any more, then clean and jerked, then clean. I PRd every one of them because…
  • So many times it's your mind that is holding you back, not your body. Good job!
  • Two to three feet of snow coming starting this evening. Tomorrow's WOD is snow shoveling.
