  • CBC Radio was having a show about a studies that concern sleep and weight gain. Shift workers or those with *serious* sleep pattern interruptions are prone to gaining weight They have also found that when the sleep patterns are restored the weight is lost fairly easily. My bf used to work late as a bar manager and had…

  • You have my sympathy! Ii had a back injury over a month ago (and my back has had issues for years) and back pain is so horrible!!! Are you seeing a physio therapist?? I would be dead dead dead without mine. A good physio will know what excersizes to give you, its actually a bad idea to develop your own based on suggestions…
  • That's a good way of putting it (calories costing you) I always tell my bf that I've "saved up" for popcorn or dim sum or whatever. I just plan my meals around the fact that I'm going to be having a treat
  • Me too!!! the gym I used to go to was beside a pub that smelled like wings and on the other side a pizza place. sheesh!
  • Those are good reasons! I joined a gym and discovered that I was juuust juust in the overweight BMI range. But then I hurt my back and wasn't able to use my gym membership (which I am still paying for...shiiiit) or even walk around that much and suddenly I was right in the middle of the overweight BMI range :( Only two or…
  • I cook ground turkey with mushrooms and onions, then I pour some tomato sauce over it and put it in a baking dish dab it with laughing cow cheese.. usually two squares and bake it. nom nom NOM
  • Mine are triggered by not eating enough or being really strict and denying myself things that I want. If it does happen i sort of stand in front of the fridge just eating stuff like pickles or pieces of cheese or crackers kind of mindlessly. If i get enough cal and let myself have treats then they don't happen
  • bump!! I also wanted to add that in watching what I eat i've just naturally cut down on carbs because I never want to waste my calories on them when I could be having a bit more meat or a bit more cheese
  • I bake a lot and when i'm figuring out baked good's calories it seems like cupcakes are usually around 400-475 if they realllly pile the icing on and its butter cream add an extra 75 cal or more. Thats for a regular sized cupcake made with real butter, and butter in the icing
  • A few years ago I lost a lot of weight by running and dieting. I didn't eat any junk food and cut out most sugar etc. Then when I finished losing the weight it was like a massive backlash and I had no will power to deny myself anything. I gained about 10 pounds back. I think moderation will be the key to avoiding any…
  • Mine is public, I really couldn't care less who sees that I have popcorn for dinner sometimes or that I often eat the same breakfast for weeks on end (hellooo soft boiled eggs) its probably looks strange when I log in stuff that I eat while I'm baking because I log the high fat stuff. My snacks will be a tbsp of chocolate…
  • I really agree with this, I feel like to make sustainable changes means not ignoring the fact that I will be baking and drinking and going out to dinner plus my boyfriend (who i live with) is a huge foodie and his family is involved in the restaurant business so I'm not going to be giving up fine dining any time soon.…
  • http://seddy5.typepad.com/blog/ (clockwork lemon) I do the daring baker's challenges as well
  • Not true. I found the fitness test for free online and printed it out :)
  • I'm geniunely not hungry BUT because of a back injury i'm pretty much 100% either sitting or lying down I bet if I was up being busy and working out then the 1200 cal would be hunger making
  • I'm 5"9 and currently 179 (heaviest every weight 186) I've been down around 135 in the past but its too skinny for my height and too hard to maintain. My goal weight is about 145-140

  • When I was doing that I aimed for 10 days on each level. The second level was the hardest for me! the first and third were much easier in comparison. I used to dance so I have strong legs and NO upper body/ arm strength. If you get bored after 5-6 days it won't hurt to go up a level
  • That looks great!! another one that I like is http://www.skinnytaste.com/ she has some good stuff.
  • I agree with everyone who said scale. I bake a lot and so I already had a scale for when I made complicated breads, its been helpful for weighing meat because I had no clue how much 4 oz of meat was. obviously measuring cups I have a ladle that is one cup, its perfect for dishing out soup or pasta sauce
  • Wow what a difference!! you look so lean!
  • Happy birthday! I personally would stick to shots or gin and soda so that you aren't getting cals from the mixers. Avoid cider!!!! I had a few last week and it was 800 calories! Drink lots of water :D
  • Hi Everyone! I just joined in Jan 2011 as well and so far I'm really happy with the site, esp the iphone app. A few years ago I lost 25 pounds just by running and eating healthy, then I went to england for a year to do part of my degree and pretty much ate what I wanted and drank a loooot. When I got back I was fairly…
  • I work for a company that gets government money for canadian manufacturers. I do the financial and paperwork stuff for our clients and I write up technical reports for them to submit to the government. Its interesting getting factory tours and hearing about all the new things that companies are inventing. Alberta is…
  • 179 riight now! Can't wait to get to 160 :) I love weighing in daily. small gains or losses don't bother me as long as the general trend is downwards
  • thanks for the recipe
  • I have an air popper and I love it! But when i eat popcorn it has to be with butter butter butter and I eat a lot of it. So its not really a healthy snack but I let myself do it on occasion. If it don't give myself treats then I rebel and eat everything in the whooole world
  • You look so good! Congrats on getting to your weight goal!
  • Here are the only tips I have about portion control: salad dressings : I usually make my own because I love cooking and making flavors (and store bought ones have crazy sodium) but you really need to watch how much dressing you use. Big salad = lots of dressing so having a big salad for dinner isn't always the healthiest…
