  • IMO, it's way too expensive for what you get. I've cancelled my subscription after about 10 boxes. I now just make an effort to swing by the bulk food section and choose some kind of trail mix, nuts or crackers, every couple weeks. Whatever I get there will be half the money for twice as much product. I don't need that…
  • Hi, yeah, I'm still on it too. I'm pretty much just maintaining at this point - this is an easy maintenance plan too. :)
  • Just to add... There aren't really any laws about things like, "Documentary" or "Based on a true story". Integrity aside (and when did this ever bother anyone with an ax to grind?) you can pretty much just say that. You might later get called out, like this one or "Supersize me" has - but your "true believers" will defend…
  • Yeah, PAHs, same stuff that burning and/or smoke dried tobacco has that leads to cancers.
  • Running wardrobe? My whole freaking wardrobe consists of free shirts from charity runs, c9 shorts and sweats from Target, and three pairs of Brooks Adrenaline shoes. I normally run in sweats or pajama pants and compression shirts with a hoodie over and socks on like mittens. :) The upside is that I dress a LOT more…
  • Which is super useful if you are trying to avoid fruits and eggs when it is dark out.
  • I don't know if it would work for anyone else, but my wife and I "support" one another in this endeavour by being competitive and adversarial. When either of us starts to slip up, comments are made, junk food is gifted, new nicknames are selected. :) Rudeness and sabotage are inexplicably motivational coming from the right…
  • But it's better than the "Couch acceptance movement" :)
  • Yeah, me too. I suspect that people with huge differences between the two are probably letting the treadmill set their pace too much. At least that is sort of thing that I do - I am a LOT faster outside at a much lower level of perceived exertion. Outside I run at exactly the pace and stride that I want - inside I tend to…
  • 81.34 for January. Pretty much on track.
  • Try him again today - I'll bet he accepts. :drinker:
  • It's a bit funny that there are now so many books on this - you could write the whole plan up in a short sentence. I've done this for the past year and lost 120 lbs. It's calories in < calories out. So, in my experience, you get the same 1-2 lbs of loss a week that you get on any other normal diet. It's just easier for me…
  • Yeah, I do sometimes. It was good to log it for awhile to build awareness, but once you realize the calories in some are SO low... It's hardly worth the effort. Like adding some radishes to a salad... They don't get counted. A full cup is 18 calories. I might add one or two radishes total.
  • Maybe start out a bit slower? Yeah, you have 100 pounds that you want to lose, but the really key part is that you keep getting hurt. Maybe some walking for a couple weeks? Follow that up with some interval runs/c25k style or something? IMO, that points to needing to do some additional training to get your body ready…
  • If you've watched the 5:2 Mosley video from the BBC - Dr. Varady is in it at about the halfway mark when they are in Chicago. They talk about mice, alternate day fasting and then eat a cheeseburger. :) Exercising and hot baths help me with the freezing.
  • This is exactly the same for me... Everyone else has been sick 2 or 3 times over the past year - passing it around the family. I've been fine. Not even a sniffle. Pretty happy with this situation. :)
  • Hi Kristi! Nope - you may eat your 500 calories as you see fit - as long as you stay in your limits. From the website: I like the shakes and still drink them quite a bit, but I think most people eat 500 calories of food.
  • I don't think 2 down days in a row is a good idea. IMO, a lot of why JUDDDing worked for me was that I wasn't deprived, so I never felt like cheating or giving up. Two down days in a row seems like it would leave you hungry and deprived. Maybe 2 medium days (average up day + down day calories) in a row. I usually do two up…
  • LOL... Yes, definitely. Me and the crows need to have a serious talk about where they put their feet.
  • 66 miles ^ Great job bobbijodmb!
  • They look ideal to wear under my Zubaz!
  • Give it a fair try and then adjust from there after a week or two. I did the up day calories for sedentary and tried for 500 (planned - 600 often in reality) for down days. Then since I was set for sedentary I sometimes eat some exercise calories on up days. It should mostly be a matter of how fast you are losing weight -…
  • Well done! Fair warning - This will possibly slow a little more - I was able to sustain 2 pounds a week for months and months though.
  • Thank god for meggings and kilts! http://meggingsman.com/ http://www.utilikilts.com/
  • Definitely sabotage. http://www.jci.org/articles/view/68993
  • Sample size of 1... My heart rate is consistently about 5% higher during exercise (running) fasted (every other day for about the last year). 5% is hardly enough of an effect to form a religion on. So, for me...it doesn't matter. There are other things I can change that would have a more significant and useful effect.…
  • I eat a LOT of the same stuff. Regular items, I add as "Meals" so I don't have to wade into the cesspool of the MFP DB. Less regular, but still frequent items are usually in my frequent lists. And I barcode scan everything possible.
  • Autum1031, You can TOTALLY do this. No exercise needed. I'm 40 and I started dieting on January 1 of 2013 at 311 lbs (5'9"). Completely sedentary (desk job from home). Eating nothing but junk. I lost weight initially by simply eating less than I burned. After a month or so, I started exercising, but I lost just weight fine…
  • Me too actually. You'll save a bunch of money - standard stuff is super cheap on craigs list. And if you buy used now - you'll still be able to get most of your money back when/if the time comes for you to upgrade to stronger bars.
  • The basic rule is that max is 220 - your age. So, 196 for you. It's not perfect. But should be fine. I'd imagine that you can re-configure it. Your heart rate will decrease pretty quickly the more fit you get.
