I'm in love with Muscle Milk - Light. Yum!

I'm running my first 1/2 on November 5th and I'm so excited. There are a bunch of other MFP folks on here that are running it too! Feel free to add me if you would like to share success and horror stories!

I love celery with hummus. Also, I like to cut it into bite size chunks when I'm at my desk at work I have something "mindless" to nibble on as a snack, then because my job is pretty mentally demanding, I don't realize how "boring" it really is!

C25K is a great program. But if you're not into that, make sure you only increase your mileage by 10% each week, otherwise you'll just hurt yourself and get discouraged! Good luck!

Every pound you lose will naturally drop time off your 5K time and increase your pace. After losing 17 pounds, I've increased my pace from a 12:00/mile to 9:45/mile and just broke the 30 minute mark last week on a 5K. Keep running, keep healthy, and keep up the great work! I think a coach told me for every 10 pounds, you…

That depends on what your current base mileage is. 6 weeks to a half is a recipe for injury if you're not logging 20 mile weeks right now.

I read it and enjoyed it a lot. It's a great story, very inspiring!

What a powerful and well written post. Thank you for sharing that. You are amazing woman, and have what it takes to be successful. Keep up this great work!

Look up Running Mate on iTunes. There is a 5K101 podcast series that I really enjoy and the coach is fabulous.

You need to do strengthening exercises. Google patellofemoral pain syndrome and look up some excercises. What helped me the most though was one my physical therapist gave me. Hold a rolled up towel securely between your knees and extend your leg (one at a time) repeating until you can't do it anymore. That helped so much…

I hate the gym too. I've tried here and there but it's just not for me. Good for you for doing what works for you, that's what it's all about!

I'm from the Twin Cities too. Welcome and feel free to add me if you want more friends :-)

I refuse to give up my beer. I just make sure I have enough calories left over for it.

I get terrible symptoms too. What have have found, and what my husband has told me, is that the more I exercise (quality and quantity) it tends to help manage those symptoms. That was what got me back into running because I couldn't stand to be around myself it was so bad. When you feel symptoms like that, that's when you…

Good luck! I wish you success, and your body will thank you for it. I gave up fast food a couple years ago, as a family we decided to go one year without McDonalds. That was HARD, we made it 6 months, caved, and it was not how we remembered it so if we hit that place three times a YEAR now in a moment of desperation,…

There's also the 5K101 podcasts that couch you through that kind of program so you don't have to watch time and can find your "zone" or "cruising speed". Those podcasts are free on iTunes.

It's not easy. You have to force yourself to do it. I get up about 5:05, make coffee, put my clothes on, have a shot of coffee, and then hit it. The whole time I cuss and swear (and I'm really a morning person, but it's so DARK) and after 5 minutes I'm wide awake, and the post-workout feeling is amazing and my energy level…

Check out the 5K101 podcasts for free on iTunes. Coach Todd will help you gradually build up and motivate you too. It's the best thing you can do for your arthritis, maybe, depending on what kind you have. Good luck!

I have that exact same problem. You may just be gluten intolerant, which is still troublesome. I have tried to eliminate as much gluten as possible from my diet. On gluten free days, I feel great. On days when I am willing to suffer the conseqences I'm in the bathroom non-stop. bloated, and lethargic. Experiment with your…

It's snowing, non-stop on top of the ice we got yesterday. Two people didn't show up for work today so I have to cover for two jobs plus my own. I need this day to be over now. Oh, and the cheetos I decided I "deserved" for all this extra work sucked. I used to LOVE those things. What a disappointment, but a good one.

Yes, it's very much like that. I convinced a few people from my running group to sign up, but I only know three people personally who are on my list. However, I wouldn't trade my MFP friends for the world! They've become a big part of my journey.

I can totally relate, except I can't do a longer run on the treadmill. That can't keep me entertained more then 20 minutes! I'm not one to run with music, but I found a training podcast that has some good upbeat music without words. I find that word-less music keeps my mind busy. But for the most part, I usually run with a…

Squash is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I like to just drizzle it with a little olive oil, sprinkle salt and pepper on it, and cook it covered at 350 with a little water in the pan until tender (about 40 minutes). Of course that means you have to cut it in half and scoop out the seeds! That might be obvious...sorry.

I had the same problem with one piece suits today! I hate bathing suit shopping. I just want to wish you luck. It's painful...I know.

I'm sure you know running outside and running on a treadmill are two different worlds. You have to get back outside. They don't run races on the 'mill and you need to get accustomed to that now or it's going to be rough. I don't pre-fuel any differently for a 10K then a 5K, and since you've already trained at that…

I could hardly get out of bed or off the toilet for three days!
-
My son eats like that every morning! His favorite is meatloaf for breakfast! Our "breakfast" foods are a social construction, not a nutritional requirement to eat certain foods. You're all good.
-
The moves are easy, but it's very hard and very worth it. I've seen huge changes after doing it four times (not consecutive either, I couldn't move for a week after the first day and I run 18 - 20 miles a week.) Like Jillian says, "I have 400 pound people that can do this, you can too!" That gets me going every time.
-
There is also 5K101 from Running Mate, you can download the podcasts on iTunes for free.

Congratulations! Great time too. Are you addicted now? When's the next one?
