ok guys - I started at 45. Turning 40 wasn't as scary as I thought, although I did start to reassess some stuff around me....all sorted! The only thing still going is the journey for better health =) Hope to be at my goal by mid year. Weight isn't changing too much but my size is and my health/ energy is hooting! So far,…

I have to admit to watching the show here in Oz. I have certainly had my suspicions about the truth of the weightloss as it doesn't seem physically possible to lose that much body fat in a week. Got me thinking about what might be going on here......It doesn't seem to be panning out to be a show about healthy eating and…

Hiya! It can be muscle and tendon/ligaments hurting. Try every second day for a little while, just gently. It will strengthen up and get used to it. Check that shoes are aligned to your feet properly and that you are not favoring a side when you walk. This can lead to knee pains, especially on one side. Other exercises…

I'm one too! Been going for over 20 years and my kids have never known anything else. I don't rely on dairy (doesn't like me:D I don't eat eggs either, but that is another story) but if you soak your beans first (a couple of hours or overnight if you can), then rinse, much less likely to cause gas. Nuts and seeds are a…

I prefer to get up early and get my running done, even though I love running! :D I find the best way for me to consider those 4am up and outs, is to know someone is waiting for me at the start of the trail or outside my front door! Once I get started I really love it. Being out doors really gets me awake. Consider…

My solution is to invite lots of friends over for a coffee and share those cookies! (a problem shared is a problem halved! :D) You get 1 or 2 each, all gone, fun chats and a good time! This is what my friends and I do when faced with this. We call it our 'binge' day (2 cookies???)Then...the person giving you those treats…

No, but will Brisbane QLD do???

Gotta ask - is that your photo? Beautiful shot! 11 lb is definitely a brilliant start! :D some days will be better than others, just keep moving forward and remember your 'whys' for doing it. Some lose weight faster than others - doesn't matter. You are you....... I have certainly 'been there, done that' a few times in my…

I used to work a lot of hours in the water with scuba (recreational) and don't remember the water being an issue with my weight. If anything, I lost a lot of fluid due to the salt water. Yes people! You can become dehydrated whilst in salt water! :D I tried not to drink too much of the stuff! (unavoidable at some times…

Hi cariballinger! The reason salt (sodium) puts on 'weight' is because it helps you to retain fluids. This is not part of the fat weight you need to burn off. The only way to deal with sodium is to eat less of it. No quick fixes! Quick fixes can lead to other electrolyte imbalances. Start choosing better options. Easier…

Firstly, cute little guy you have there! I am not sure if this little guy will pull through or not but you are doing your best, that is for sure! It seems to me that your faith in people, especially those you felt were special, has been hurt the most. It is a lonely feeling, I know. You have a heart of gold, to care about…

Hiya ausbrah! Been there many times myself! I am a 45 yr mum of 3 (started later than most :) )Finally started to get it right from March last year. What helped me was my change in thinking....health not weight or dress size. Mind you this has been an awesome bonus along the way!!!LOL I looked at my health and decided I…

Stay cool! I am a vegetarian too. It isn't so much the meat, but the way it is prepared. I guarantee you will find your favourite recipes in a healthier version! Google is your friend  Lower the portion of rice or pasta (my favourite foods!) just a little and go easy on the sauces. Don't eat packet type foods ie Mac…

Congratulations on your marriage! Start to an exciting life! Firstly, take one day at a time until you get the hang of it. Consider walking - it works, it's free, you can do it with a friend or pooch (foster one for walks if need be :) ) plus being outdoors is good for the mind, soul and body...great thinking time…

Not sure what I did wrong with quote but here is my reply anyway :) I agree with this quote but like to add fresh fruit or non dairy sorbet/gelato if I feel like it. I usually have a small glass of wine with spritzer added, for that bit of 'sparkle'! I don't choose meat dishes (vegetarian) so I can save some calories for…

up at 5am for a run, back by 6am, washing, prepare breakfast and get washing on, homeschool kids, gardening, writing articles, kids c-5k running group, dinner, highland dancing (me!) home for cuppa with hubbie, shower and bed! Beeautiful day!

don't despair! I understand the pain you are feeling, truly....Comments especially hurt whether they know you or not! Remember, you are doing it for yourself. Take one day at a time....it does get easier! I couldn't afford a gym, still can't...plus I hate crowds! So I borrowed some exercise DVDs from the library and…

I don't take supplements, vegan (except for honey) and, as I donate blood every 3 months, my iron is checked as part of the procedure. My count is always above average (147/8). I am in my 40's, have 3 vegan, healthy kids who have never eaten animal product. Are we a sickly anaemic looking family? No! We don't get sick; not…

That is what I spend here in Oz for the same size family, but I am always willing to learn more tips!

running!!!! This way, I can enter events, have fun, hang out with the group and donate money to charity! Win win all round. Burns heaps of calories too!

this is true. You can expand the program for another week if you need to (or more) It is up to you. It isn't cheating, just working with your own level! (it isn't a race!)

It is designed to do with days in between for recovery. It certainly makes it a lot easier and more likely to successfully complete the program. You can do cross training on the other days if you wish, such as swimming, weights or cycling, what ever you choose! Enjoy. Totally love this program!

Beans and lentils kinda girl, with some seeds and nuts thrown in at times. Not strictly vegan as I choose to eat honey. Hate fake meat stuff ( artificials added plus to damn expensive for a family of 5) although I do like tofu and tempeh on occasions if it is organic. So many cultures out there with delicious foods! Check…

considering that calories are a measurement of energy, I would think it was safe to assume that you would need to include them considering you need the energy for strength training as well as cardio. Just make those extra calorie points healthy nutritious choices so you get more bang for your points! Bet you still lose…

I just count water. Anything else is just a bonus. I don't count tea or coffee (even herbal) because they can be a diuretic. I don't count sports drinks on my runs either. Down here a glass of water is 250ml :)

go for it everyone! I completed it last year and found it fantastic. Yes there are hard days, that's so you learn to push through your physical and mental barriers. Believe me - you can do it! Currently, we are taking a group of young kids (8yrs to 12yrs) through the program and have just finished week 6. The look on their…

started the training for a half marathon last year using a beginners guide (around 12 weeks) and ran my first 1/2 last November. Had an awesome time as I traveled with a friend. Have some more lined up this year plus some more challenging events. If you are going to train. push further and do one! You will be surprised on…

Morning or night? Simply depends on what works for you - that way it will get done! I love to run as my main form of calorie burn and get up around 4.30am to do this as I love trail running and that is when it is the most beautiful with so much wildlife to enjoy! Also, it is one more thing ticked of my list. However, I am…
