  • Dietitian here- I'd make sure to check in with your physician before adopting a program with calories that low. I know Optavia recommends (on their website) consulting with a physician first as well.

  • I usually go by the box. If it's a whole food (no label) and MFP has a bunch of different conflicting entries, I do a quick check on Cronometer
  • Healthy is such a relative term! How does this meal fit with *your* preferences and health goals? That's what matters since it's your meal! For me, I probably would have skipped the corn, cut the portion of bread in half, went for 2 eggs, and added more tomato and cucumber. But it doesn't really matter since I am…
  • Logging definitely takes far less time than it did way back in the beginning. I find it provides the extra bit of accountability that I need.
  • 40, feel free to add me. I've been a member since 2013. My 7-year weight maintenance anniversary is next month! :D :D
  • Looks AMAZING :yum:
  • My commuter snacks were always simple things like an apple, 100-calorie almond pack, small container of yogurt, a peach or other stone fruit if in season
  • There's a bunch. Usually plentiful veg & protein. I'm in maintenance and eat more than I did back when I was in weight loss mode
  • French onion soup in the slow cooker. Delicious!
  • @just_Tomek It was this recipe: https://www.wokandkin.com/buddhas-delight-lo-han-jai/ Wonderful and completely different than the Buddha's Delight in Chinese restaurants in the U.S. I tried quite a lot of new-to-me foods with that one
  • No problem!
  • @nicsflyingcircus mentioned a strategy that I like/utilize when I am cutting back. It's a really good technique to get a lowish calorie meal from a steak house too!
  • I like a lot of variety but when I am super busy, I have a bunch of easy fallback meals: Breakfast: oatmeal/fruit/yogurt overnight oats (sometimes with a hardboiled egg or more yogurt on the side) egg omelet with cheese and veg two-minute cheese and egg sandwich (microwave eggs) Lunch: almost always dinner leftovers or a…
  • I made a dish tonight with five types of mushrooms, a couple of which were new to me: -shiitake -wood ear -black oyster -king oyster (new and pictured below) -bamboo pith (new and pictured below,,, this one was tricky for me because the package only said "dried mushroom" in English) This one has an unusual netting and…
  • This thread is super fun and I learned some new things  I love veggie-packed meals and meal prep salads almost every week to help with weight maintenance. Some recent new-to-me fruit/veg: - Buddha's hand - - Butterscotch pears - Charentais melons (last two no pictures) -
  • Living in the U.S., I quickly learned with tracking that the restaurants here serve super high-calorie meals. I used to eat a salad that was ~1500 calories thinking I was making the "healthy" choice. lol It becomes much easier if you make your own food. Make a soup or stew (or salads or another recipe), log it, decide how…
  • For a 2 lb frozen London broil that was ~1.5" thick my air fryer took about 30 minutes at 400 I'm doing Buffalo wings in the air fryer tonight
  • I'm kind of obsessed with my air fryer right now. Does your fryer have a spit? If so, you can do a whole rotisserie chicken! https://summeryule.com/2020/02/24/air-fryer-rotisserie-chicken/ If you don't have a spit, here's a recipe for calamari that cooks on the racks…
  • 3ish and mostly whole grains (Did not do a low-carb approach for weight loss and I've been in maintenance for a looong time now.)
  • We also have one child. We got this question all the time when he was a toddler, but no one asks us anymore now that he is ten. lol So things will get better for you! Also I'm surprised that you are getting this question a lot in NYC. In Boston, most of the ppl we knew had one or zero kids. We got bugged a lot more when we…
  • This was my first thought too. I'm not saying that this is your situation, but I may have said some slightly nasty/jealous things back when I was overweight, but my already in shape husband was working on toning up a little more. May have. I admit to nothing. lol
  • I am 5'7, 125ish pounds. I'm in maintenance, and right now I'm aiming for an average daily intake of 2500. I was still losing weight on 2300. I do mostly cardio for exercise, plus I am on my feet most of the day. I also started a new thyroid med that I think is helping to keep my weight down. It freaks me out a little,…
  • We do sushi for all of the birthdays in my house, my family members all love it so much. You can keep your calories reasonable with sushi, but last night I ate over 2000 cals at a sushi buffet. lol Like anything else, portion size is still going to matter. Steaks or a nice seafood restaurant would be my other top picks.…
  • Radioactive- Imagine Dragons Up In the Air- Thirty Seconds to Mars My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark- Fall Out Boy Destroy Everything You Touch- Ladytron Castle of Glass- Linkin Park Burn it Down- Linkin Park Scream & Shout- will.i.am Hey Baby (Drop it to the Floor)- Pitbull
  • Summer #662 most common female name. It is much more common now than when I was born in the 70s. My son's name is so unique, it is not in their system yet with a numerical ranking. All they tell me is that it is "very rare". lol
  • That is so funny! I also lost the weight of my kid (about 55 lbs), and we did the same thing w/my old pants. lol
  • Yes, mostly true. But then there are also things like sugar-free jello cups and sugar-free fudgsicles that are very low calorie, but also not healthy.
  • Want to start by saying what ended up working for me might not be what works best for you. I'm 5'7 and 123, I started out in the 180s last summer. I did 1200s-1400s cal wise every single day until I hit my goal, and didn't cheat. (I was really determined! lol) Now I eat around 1900-2100 for maintenance, and that seems to…
  • Oh that is awful. I know how that feels, kids used to ask me that when I was heavier. It really poked at my insecurities about my appearance. Most adults would not be so stupid, but it happens. :(
