I used unsweetened iced tea, it has plenty of caffeine. Once you get over the need for the soda taste, you can gradually step down the tea to wean yourself off caffeine. Good luck, it CAN be done!

I've been given the okay to lose weight while pregnant, but I'm focusing on getting at least 2000 cals a day and exercising at a comfortable pace for about 45 minutes every other day. My weight has been slowly dropping over the last several weeks. I'm not focused on weight loss so much as maintaining fitness and eating a…

Huh, my Dr told me squats and deadlifts would make my uterus fall out. I guess uteruses just delicate all around.

I don't hate anything about my old self. When I look at pictures of her I'm astonished at the courage she had in taking the first steps and changing her life. I'm 60 pounds lighter than that person, but I wonder if I'm still that brave. I don't know.

Last April I would have been upset to know that I would only have made it halfway to goal by now. Today, I'm thrilled with the progress I've made and planning on taking another 2 years to get to where I want to be. I think coasting down slowly has helped me form habits that stick and overhaul my life a bit at a time…

My husband called it my "fat hunch". Gah. Just keep losing fat and it will come off when it wants to.

I'm pretty solid so I'm aiming for 145, but we'll see how I feel when I get there. I'm a lot stronger and more compact than I was the last time I was there, so I think I will look and feel pretty great around 135-145. Realistically, I anticipate at least another year of recomp post weight loss to achieve a look and feel…

I'm weightlifting in my third trimester and I feel just fine. I was too exhausted to exercise through a lot of the first/second trimester, but my fitness is almost back to normal now. Balance is really my only problem, I'm just careful to fall on my butt when I do overbalance LOL. Talk to your doc, but honestly ... my…

The dreaded dressing room mirror! Taking a picture in one of those bad boys is a victory in itself. Congrats on your awesome progress!

Yeah I really don't feel that anyone of any size should be belittled or discriminated against or humiliated - but they try to make people feel better about themselves by insisting that they are genetically doomed to be obese and that losing weight is physically impossible. As a former morbidly obese person I found it…

My problem with them is that they try to discourage obese people from losing weight.

Speaking as someone who started from the same place, you may not be eating enough. I usually ate at least 1800 a day at my highest weight.

My mom did this, lost about 50 pounds through calorie restriction (since she was no longer allowed to eat brownies etc) and then got sick of the bizarre restrictions and ate her way to over 300lbs seemingly overnight.

NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN - disclaimer OP, the people talking about deficits aren't trying to tell you to eat less. They're trying to point out that 1800 calories IS a deficit for you, and since you have a significant amount of weight to lose 2000 calories would probably still be a deficit. By switching to this Hays diet you…

Just eat cheese if you like cheese

Being too embarrassed to exercise was a big contributing factor to me getting so big in the first place. Just pretend you're not afraid for now and go do it. Incidentally, almost all the weight lifting guys are very helpful and friendly. I've only been laughed at in the gym once, and that was by two bros curling in the…

You could eat a ton more food than that for 1500 calories. Jus' sayin

Reducing (but not eliminating) gluten in my diet has cut my migraines drastically. Other food triggers I have are excess caffeine and red food dye.

In a calorie deficit, it's very unlikely for you to build new muscle tissue. Any gain in muscle you experience will be slight-- I'm talking in the neighborhood of 1-2 pounds. When you first start, you may experience an initial weight gain of a couple of pounds because your muscles will retain water to repair themselves.…
