Get it checked, it's better to be safe than sorry. I had miniscus/knee spur surgery almost 2 years ago, partly due to me ignoring the pain I was in until it got unbearable. Knee spurs are what your body grows when what you are doing isn't supporting your frame enough, ok till they catch on a ligament then it freaking hurts!

As you are not diabetic, don't worry about the sugar, a little over is fine. Have the fruit, peanut butter..in fact, cut up the apple and dip it in peanut butter as a snack :)

Celeste, its also in the genes.. But when I started I thought almost the same "seriously, I eat healthy!" But I wasn't eating enough (every couple of hours) and I had some serious "Whoa!" moments when entering foods in, that I had considered healthy. Its a learning curve, and we are all here to help if we can :)

Also remember, you went to the DR in pain. Pain pushes your BP up (so does going to the DRs - white coat syndrome) But, if all you remember from the replies here is one thing, remember this, - it is far easier to take BP pills than it is to recover/survive a heart Attack or Stroke.

I have the snack bars and shakes on hand, not to do the whole Atkins thing, but to supplement my regular diet. They are good to have for when I need a snack, or am away from home, driving at lunchtime (Diabetic)
