Thank you all for your responses and advice! I really appreciate it! In the past, I've tried just reducing calories, and other times just exercising more. One alone doesn't work for me, so I need to combine the two. Yoga isn't an option, due to the change in body positions and increase in migraine. Spinning is definitely…

Thank you, WBB55 - great idea. I'm actually not in as bad of shape as one might expect at 140 lbs overweight. I'm certainly not in good shape. I already walk an average of around 8,000 steps on weekdays and between 10,000-15,000 on Saturdays. Sundays are typically a crap-shoot. I'm actually looking for something a little…

Or, will the USB charging cable work the same way?

1. Absolutely 2. Nope 3. That's the hope, right? :)

Is this the same on the Fitbit One? There's only one button, and it just switches displays. If I hold it, it goes into sleep tracking mode.
-
THIS.... explains it so well. Thank you so much!

So if MFP says I'm supposed to eat 2060 calories a day (and I assume fitbit calculates something near that) then the +/- of calories is based on how much I SHOULD be burning? In other words, let them sync and just follow the numbers at the end of the day? I'm sorry I'm so confused about this.

To respond to most of those responses so far (and thank you for them!!): I'm hoping/needing to lose weight. I struggled with delayed shipping from Amazon, ordered for in-store pickup from Best Buy, later got an email that it wasn't in stock, walked in to the same best buy I planned to pick it up from (I thought I would get…

shameless bump :ohwell:

So I just saw this after doing a search for "Shabbat." I'm not even sure if the OP is still on MFP, but I thought I'd reply anyway. I have the exact same problem, but have come to an "understanding" about it. The easy (and obviously not true) answer is "Calories don't count on Shabbos," but in all seriousness, many people…

Holy crap - just saw your pictures. If that can't motivate me......

Thank you all so much - as I said, 165 seemed very light. It's interesting to see how many of you said something along the lines of "I'm 175, goal 185." That tells me a lot about what I should be aiming for. I'll have to check out the body fat calculator. Thanks so much!

That is awesome! I'm also at a 42, have gotten down into 38s at one point, but it's that 36 that I REALLY want to reach. I've never known why, but the number 36 has always seemed more like a "normal" size to me. Great job!

Yeah, that sounds about right. As I said, when I first started out, I stayed way under the goal. I think it was partially that first-few-days-drive-to-succeed that made me not feel like I was starving. I lost a lot those first few weeks, and then it leveled off. A couple things you should keep in mind: Many on this site…

My bad - that was my understanding when I frequented the site about a year ago (I don't remember ever seeing the acronym TDEE - it's obviously all over the place now). Excellent tact, by the way.

Welcome to MFP - this is totally my opinion - no science behind it (except for my understanding of how BMR works and everything), but it works for me (or did, for a while, then I gained it back because I lost focus - not because MFP failed me - and am back at square one, now). MFP calculates a rough estimate of your BMR -…

Not her, necessarily. I bumped it because I also just started p90x, and am also interested in seeing the results others have found.

Thank you all for these ideas. A few notes. Last time I did MFP, I took salads every day. They had grilled chicken and hard boiled egg to add protein. I got so sick of it (every day for 4 or 5 months) that to this day I can't eat grilled chicken or hard boiled egg on salads. Maybe I will do some more salads, with just…

Yes - most sandwiches, just can't mix meat and dairy. My typical lunch has a PB&J sandwich.

Thank you all very much for the encouragement, motivation, and advice. There's a lot to think about here, and just reading everyone's support has turned my outlook toward a more positive light. Thank you. This is what I needed.

Thank you to everyone who replied. While there were really only a few ideas for exercises I could do during a migraine (the original question), unfortunately those won't help. Swimming isn't an option, as I don't have access to a pool, and yoga I won't do because there's a yoga portion in the warm up for Power 90, and it…

These are EXCELLENT ideas. Thank you!

I would love to try swimming, but I don't have a pool, and neither does my gym...

I normally wouldn't bump my own post, but this is nearing the bottom of page one, and I REALLY need some help here. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
-
I can see your point there. I think I feel the way I do because both of my parents died when I was young, and I don't want my daughter (and, God willing, future children) to go through that.

Thanks! Pardon my ignorance: What's a rebounder?
-
Thank you so much! I'll be sure to check that out. You're right - cutting out any of those foods (even pasta, my all time favorite food) will be worth it if there is a significant improvement in my headaches. Thanks again!
-
There's someone else who gets them as often and bad as me??!! Wow - have you ever had ANY (even moderate) success?
-
Excellent point. However, chiropractors and nutritionists have helped me to look at that. I really mean it when I say that I've tried/investigated just about everything in the past 18 years. :ohwell:
