Protein Powder for Weight Loss
Hi All, I've replaced my old breakfasts with protein shakes, but recently noticed that the label says something along the lines of "not to be used for weight reduction." Are there any protein powders that are good for weight loss? Thanks!

Plenty of Excuses - need help getting around them
Hi Everyone, I'm back here (for the umpteenth time) trying to lose weight. Like many people on here, I've tried over and over and over again, and always either had no success, or had success that didn't last (I dropped 40+ pounds twice, just to put it - and more - back on). Either way, as it stands now, I have at least 100…

fitbit - extra usb dongle??
Anyone know how I can obtain an extra USB dongle ( ) for the Fitbit One (I think it's the same device as the Ultra uses). I'd love to be able to Sync the fitbit both at work and at home. I can't seem to find anything online about how to get one. Thanks!

Does total fat include polyun/monoun fats?
Hi Everyone, I'm pretty new around here, but am a little confused about something and haven't been able to find an answer. I'm hoping someone can help me out. MFP calculates my goal for TOTAL fat at roughly 60-something grams a day (I don't have it in front of me, so I don't remember the exact number). However, my goals…

Fitbit with MFP
Happy Day of Candy Temptation! :) So I just got a Fitbit One yesterday, and have already synced it up with MFP and everything. My question is on how it calculates how many calories I have "left" as it syncs. It seems like it adds ALL of the calories I've burned to MFP (even the calories I burn when I'm sitting down doing…

p90x gaining weight
So I know I've read posts on here about gaining weight at the start of P90X, but I'm still a little concerned. First, a little background info. I've started weight loss efforts multiple times in my adult life. Due to my size, it is not unusual for me to lose 15 or so pounds in the first couple of weeks. All that said, I…

6'0" Men - goal weight?
What is a reasonable goal weight for a 6'0" man? Middle of "normal" BMI range is somewhere around 165. That seems a bit low to me, Thoughts?

P90X Classic or Lean?
Hi Everyone, I recently got P90X (borrowed the dvds from a family member), and did Day 1 of the classic program last night. I'm wondering, though, if lean would be better for me (at least for the first time through the program). I'm 6'0", 280 pounds, and weight loss is far more important to me than muscle building (I think…

My lunch has how many calories??!!
Hi Everyone, I started (back) on MFP a little over a week ago. I'm a teacher, and was on spring break until today, so calorie counting and eating was relatively easy, since I wasn't at work and had my entire kitchen (and tons of time) to do what I needed. I packed a pretty typical at-work lunch for today, and pre-entered…

Migraine Sufferers - Please Read
Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some exercise ideas that will still burn a halfway decent amount of calories when I have a migraine. Here's my issue: I have headaches nearly every day, and debilitating migraines an average of 3-4 times per week. I can no longer afford to not work out because I have a migraine. My migraines…

Please help! I've been gone a long time. Long post, but I ne
Hi Everyone. This is a long post, but I REALLY need help. Please consider taking the time to read it all. I lost about 20 pounds on MFP over a year ago. This was my third or fourth temporary significant weight loss, and the first one with MFP. In past efforts, I've lost anywhere from 10 to 70 pounds at a time, always…

C25K - Shin Splints
Hi Everyone, I've been doing C25K for several months now (each "week" really takes me 3-4 weeks to get past it). I'm now at the point where I can run 2 miles (20 minutes at 6.0 mph), which is the first time I've ever been able to run more than a half mile at once. However, when I run, I get terrible shin splints, and…

starting to run
I remember being in high school, dreading the four days a year we had to run the mile. I look outside on nice days and see people running, and I think to myself, "why the hell would you WANT to run? What's the point?" Deep down, though, I know that I would probably really enjoy it if I wasn't soooo terrible at it (of…

Two topics: That was close/I have a question
First topic: That was close. Today is the first time I'm logging in in over a week. Probably closer to two or more. I honestly don't remember when I was here last. I've still been watching what I eat and working out (and have maintained my weight), but I really think I was on the verge of losing all of my progress. It's…

power 90 advice
Hi MFPals, I'm thinking about getting power 90 (not p90x). Have any of you used it? What kind of results did you see? What's the daily time commitment in order to see these results? Thanks, Ryan

Not so happy
I'm in a rut. I lost my first 15 pounds in about a month, then slowly another five over the past five weeks or so. In the past 5 or 6 days, I've gained five pounds back. Not so happy about this.

Cutting out pop??
Yes, I said "pop." You can call it soda, cola, sodypop, or whatever else you want. We midwesterners know what's up. I see a lot of posts about "quitting" pop. I can't do it. I'm a diet-pop only guy, so my 6 cans/day that I used to drink isn't as bad as it could be (yes, I know there are other health factors that…

help with pics
I see a lot of people on here have progress pics where they've added text to the picture itself (like date/weight). How do you add text to these pics? I'm sure if I wanted to buy photoshop, I could figure it out, but I don't want to. If it matters, I use a mac. Thanks, Ryan

NSV
So I've been a little down lately because my weight loss finally slowed down (after 15 pounds in 3 weeks) - okay, so it didn't just slow down, it ground to a halt. I reached my first mini goal on 1/21, but have since put on another 1.6 pounds. I've been planning on re-taking my measurements on the first of each month. I…

any blenders actually blend?
Good morning MFPals, I'm now on my third blender, and am ready to return it. I'm not trying to blend ipods or anything like that, just want a blender that can break up some frozen strawberries, and blend them together with a tbsp of peanut butter, milk, and protein powder. Is it unrealistic to think I shouldn't have to…

NSV
When I started a few weeks ago, 45 minutes on the elliptical earned me 829 calories. Because of the weight I've lost, I only earn 795 now. I know it's not a huge difference, or a big deal, but when i saw that 829, I thought, "wow - I'm huge. I'm so fat that 45 minutes of elliptical earns me over 800 calories? That's almost…

Can I do p90x??
I keep hearing about this P90X thing, and I've looked through the forum archives a bit to see some information on it. I read somewhere that you have to be in decent shape to start it... Can I get clarification? I'm pretty overweight, but can do some intense cardio on an elliptical, for example. Also, is there anywhere to…

wireless headphones
I know this is not really weight loss related, but I thought this would be the best place to find some answers. I'm looking into buying wireless headphones. I've got a six month old whose bedroom is right above our family room, and when she goes to bed at 7 is usually the best time to exercise. The problem is, the basic,…

First short term goal met!
I started at 275, and made 260 my first short term goal. This morning I am 259.8!

I think this is where I usually get cocky....
I've had a pretty successful first two and a half weeks on MFP. I've done 45 minutes of cardio 6 days/week, and have only gone over my net calorie goal one time, and even then it was only by 100 calories. To show for it, I've lost 14.4 pounts in 17 days. As I expected it to, about a week ago, the weight loss slowed down a…

Irrational worry - can anyone relate? (sorry, kind of long)
Okay, so assuming MFP will be successful (not "if", "when" it's successful), this will be my 4th time losing a significant amount of weight. The difference, hopefully, is that this time, I won't gain it all back. But here's a fear I've had, which I think might be psychologically holding me back. Yes, I know it's…

healthy alternatives
I've been really craving some chicken fingers and fries lately, but I'm not ready to jump off the bandwagon. Tonight, I'm going to pick up some boneless skinless chicken breast, a couple potatoes, and go home and bake these (chicken breast, cut into strips, season and bread, and bake on a cookie sheet/broiler pan - "fries"…

Can I do p90x?
(Sorry for the double post, I posted this on a different category and haven't gotten any responses, thought I'd try it here). I keep hearing about this P90X thing, and I've looked through the forum archives a bit to see some information on it. I read somewhere that you have to be in decent shape to start it... Can I get…

Stupid Scale (Just need to vent)
Not exactly weight loss related, but it's ______ me off.... I weigh myself daily. I know it's not a great idea, but so far it's working, and once the weight loss slows down (after the honeymoon period), I'll start weighing in less frequently. I will generally weigh myself 2 or 3 times in a row, because sometimes the weight…

crap! What do i do?!
I'm supposed to eat 1,760 calories (net) a day for my weight loss goals. After logging my diary (including 805 calories earned) and everything today, I've only had 552 net calories. It's 10:00 PM here, and I normally go to bed within an hour from now. I weigh in tomorrow morning. Should I get up to the 1200 net? (eat an…
