  • Personally, I don't worry about Carb Loading prior to a race. I think the benefits are minimal when running 9 min miles pace or slower. I instead use a energy gel during the race. I like GU (https://guenergy.com/), but try a couple to see if you like them. Try them on a couple of you long runs to get use to eating on the…
  • You can buy nipple guards at the running store. Like band aids but more adhesive and shaped to fit so to speak. Or you can use Mueller Lube Stick for Runners, or Body Glide. Both are lubricants you apply before the run. Good luck
  • I take the day before the race off from working out or running. Maybe a walk just to stay loose. I set out my gear the night before; what I'm going to wear, change of clothes, towel, etc. Day of I eat a light breakfast. Toast, piece of fruit, one egg, you get the point. You want something on stomach but not too much. Once…
  • I concur. Duct tape is a thousand times better than moleskin or athletic tape. The only other suggestion is to try two-ply running socks. The two plys slide against each other instead of your foot against the shoe.
  • First things first, don't give up. Besides the timing of when you eat, what you eat might matter. High carb foods before running can cause a side stitch. Avoid big meals and carbs an half hour before your run. Not eating for 2-5 hours before you run is also a concern. Being well fueled will make the run go better for you.…
  • I never use a belt. Using a belt takes the work off you core and ultimately weakens them. If you need a belt for general support, then fine, but if you are using a belt so you can lift some ego boosting weight, you are only fooling yourself. I say stick to the loads you can comfortably lift without any belt and you will be…
  • I consider myself a dedicated runner. I've been running for years. And even this last week I had a similar experience as you did. I had a rest day, then the next day I had a 2 mile run scheduled. Halfway through the run I bailed. I just wasn't feeling it. I was sluggish, tired, you name it. The next day I went for another…
  • Don't give up on some of the recipes you've tried before. I've found with my picky eater that if I present the food a couple more times after the initial rejection, she adapts and grown to like the new recipes. It might be tough to keep pushing the issue but if you hold your ground they will come along.
  • I use "calisthenics" for any bodywieght exercises.
  • Love Crossfit. I tend to use Crossfit as a supplement to my main sports oriented workouts. I do crossfit as my strength training component when I'm training for a half-marathon. I'm also a martial artist, so crossfit supplements my martial arts workouts. The variety offered by crossfit keeps my motivation up and the short…
