take measurements. recording your weight may not tell the whole story if you've added muscle and lost fat. Measure your body and track it every 2-4 weeks to see if those results are better than what you see on the scale. Also you see yourself every day, so it wont be as noticeable to you as it will be to people who don't…

I'm sending A PM of nutrition timing as well :)

you often hear of hardcore weight lifters taking 2 weeks off, then coming back to the gym stronger than ever b/c they are fully healed.
-
the problem is muscles are torn which is why they are sore (lactic acid build up), then the next day they are torn again without being fully healed, and repeat... diet is more important than exercise when it comes to losing weight. The best advice is let up on the workouts cut your workout days by 50% or set up routines…

Don't think thats good. Your muscles need time to recover. In the gym - less is more when it comes to building muscle. A number of studies show that your muscles only need 60-80 seconds of muscle workout in order to build muscle. If you're doing cardio and being sore, maybe try adding a few extra rest days & focus on what…

Occasionally I am 500 to even 1000 calories below on days. I still get my 100+ g of protein and feel great. Then there are days where I am slightly over. doing a strict daily calorie budget and always hitting target can trick your body into starvation mode eventually. Remember this calorie tracking is not perfect. It's not…

Even the smallest changes will produce long term results- not drinking your calories will drop a good amount of weight over the year. 6 months is plenty of time to drop weight especially with all those changes! Just make sure they are long term changes, and if you can't do it long term, find out how to replace it with…

When someone wants to have an extremely reduced caloric intake, then sugars are bad b/c they are empty calories that can be spent on healthier options. If you have calories to spare, then go right ahead! Phelps is a case where cold-induced exposure (he is in a cold pool for quite a better part of the day) helps increase…
-
Don't worry about it. Your body will tell you when you're hungry. That must mean you are eating very nutrient dense foods. Calorie counting is a good tracking method, but listening to your body is sometimes better in this situation.
-
watch out where you get your protein from if you have high chlorestorol. Hemp, soy, pea proteins are all good sources!
-
low carb diets work... I lost 20 lbs in a few weeks. However going off it is where the problem is. I don't think it's a good long term diet, but to help with the first 30 lbs or the last 10, i think it's pretty good! I do prefer a 90+% plant based diet long term.
-
you'll use it for weeks, then stop... I used it, along with Zeo (mointors your sleeping). I found Zeo to be better b/c it taught me how my diet affected my sleeping. Better sleep = reduced stress and helps you lose weight easier.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSUw9SaPLmA check that link out. Raw (or 60%) vegan diet seems to be one of the best methods without drugs. As a former eat meat till you sweat, this is an easy diet.

I dont' think moderation in all things is good. A little LSD in moderation isn't good. And you may have stabilized your insulin from other things not related to the whey... even if it was, there are many other things that are healthier that will do it for you just as well or better.
-
Dairy isn't the healthiest for you in general. We just believed the propanganda the meat and dairy industries have been spewing for years. Calcium can come from veggies. Why is it that humans need milk and dairy and other animals do not? Milk and whey is 100% unnecessary.

possibly a gross underestimation of calories eaten? I've done that before... Eat foods that are dense in nutrition- and avoid all calories that are "empty" (cookies, sugars, etc). Also the other poster Lizz is right. Nuts and some oils are great! It doesn't take many seeds and nuts to add an extra 400 calries so watch out!
-
then you will stick to a flawed statement. Not wrong, but not right either. Another poster said it very well- if the fruit helps you not eat bad foods - then eat the fruit! this micro-nutrients you speak of are great, but also only stay in the system for a very short time. So wouldn't it make sense to not overload on…

They are ALL fairly inaccurate. Calipers are your best bet, cheapest and provide the best accuracy. What is key in this is that you use the same tools to measure your results time and time again. That way, even if it's inaccurate you can still see the results.

Tim Ferriss made the "cheat day" real popular in the 4 hour body. However there are things you need to consider- and follow. Most women need a full day to spike their calories, when men can get away with 1 meal a week. The idea of the cheat day is to prevent the body from going into starvation mode. Some do it by cycling…

EXACTLY! It was not the fruits that made you lose the weight- it could have been in spite of it, but it pushed you from eating those candy bars which were much worse! There are always better options tho, especially for those who are on a strict diet
-
1 tsp. of sugar contains 16 calories. Sugar doesn't provide any nutrients, so all those calories you take in are for nothing. When you are on a strict calorie reduced diet, it's better for you to avoid calories that have no benefit to you. Would you disagree with that statement? I am saying if you had the choice to eat…

a little bit of coconut oil before working out, and liek the others said- stay hydrated
-
Maybe I should have said high-glycemic fruits. Thank you for clarifying :)
-
I agree! However I know I feel better the next morning if I eat my fatty or high calorie meals earlier in the day. I also take a multi-vit before bed so it stays in the system longer (most of the vitamins are flushed out within a few hours). No evidence it works better or not, but in my mind ;)
-
true. however many of the nutrients in fruits are water soluble so they are out of the system in 2-4 hours. If you are eating for the nutrition value of the fruit, then it's best to spread small amounts throughout the day. I do feel we are all splitting hairs here. Most of us - even if we make 1-2 small changes will see…

Also working out is 20-30% of the equation. the main focus is diet. In fact, you may be working out WAY too much. try limiting cardio to 2x week and weights the same. You may see more gains in the gym and more loss on the scale
-
try adding in a cheat day - spike your calorie intake to 2000 or so for that day. well planned cheat days can have a positive effect on weight loss. PM if you need help
-
I can fluctuate my weight up to 8 lbs. some days depending on what I've eaten. Just start weighing yourself weekly or bi weekly instead for a better estimate!
-
The problem with long term reduction of calories is it will eventually put your body into defence mode and you'll stop losing fat, and maybe even start losing muscle. The best long term strategy is (maybe after 3-4 months) start confusing your body so it doesn't hit a plateau. Start calorie cycling. So if your weekly…

fruit sugars are NOT healthy in abundance. treat fruit as a "treat" not as an important part of the diet. thats what veggies are for. If you add in healthier choices, you don't have to remove the bad ones (they will remove themselves) & experiment to see what works! It's an art and science how our bodies react, and we just…
