Firstly, the tax threshold has just changed - it used to be £4.5K, so until recently you would have been paying tax...You couldn't afford to feed yourself after you had paid your rent on that money round here. I doubt you could get a place in an house of multiple occupancy for less than £650/month in the south of England…

I am self-emplyoyed (but not an employer) and I really cannot stand this "benevolent employer" attitude. The main person who benefits when you choose to take on staff is you, the employer. If it isn't then you are not doing your sums properly. Basic employment econonics: "Wage labour and capital - surplus value" If you do…

Just in to say: Port? Please don't tell me you have it with lemon and have taken up bridge...

I certainly think you do, but I have no research on it. I farm and am on my feet a lot - yet I still gain at about 2700 (with no exercise). I certainly remember being slightly amused at estimates of calorie burn for a day of 'beating' for a shoot (basically about 4 hours of brisk walking through dense undergrowth/cover…

If there was a diet that told me to leave out alcohol - I wouldn't be on it. However, I have noticed that since I lost weight I have become much more of a cheap date - 6 pints now and I'm spannered.

Sounds like the kind of plan I like.....:drinker:

1) Put the kettle on 2) Add resulting water to teabags 3) Splash of milk if required 4) Cup of tea. Like water, but tastier. (substitute for whatever brown warm drink is customary in your country - I'm British)

I thought this was going to be an interesting discussion about bomb calorimitry Vs the human gut. :grumble:

From what I've read a 300lb + person is one of the few who could stick a VLCD for a short period relatively unscathed. Make sure you are getting all your vits and mins and dont do it for long..

If you are living in Italy, then the answer is cheese. Never met an Italian vegetarian though.....

For MFPs estimation of calories burned during strength training - you have to look in 'cardiovascular', odd as it may seem.
-
So: unless I have got this very wrong, the OP intends to ingest no food whatsoever over nearly three weeks, drinking only water? If that is the case, then its the most idiotic thing I have heard on MFP and that takes some doing.

Not weight related but: I developed ulcerative colitis when I was 22 - I was having to go to the loo 5 times a day and was severely anaemic (although I did not know it at the time). My winter final year exams for my degree (December) coincided with this and I dragged myself to them, although the walk…

Most peoples weight naturally fluctuates by up to 4lb anyway - I would look at the overall trend rather than individual days. I always think that weighing yourself every two weeks probably gives you a slightly clearer picture.

 I was going to suggest that the OP cut out the middleman and just bought some high-quality speed....

You still wouldn't gain on a deficit - even with creatine, would you?

The point of lifting shoes is that they should have little/flat soles. Converse all-star or generic versions thereof are pretty good. The nice thing about lifting shoes is that they are/should be cheap - if you are lifting at home barefoot is just as good....

I never count walking about either - I walk in the country plenty, I am a farmer. I have my activity level set to lightly active to incorporate it. I did once try to log a days beating and was mildly amused at the ammount of calories MFP estimated for walking for that length of time (5hrs) was in the thousands of cals iirc.
-
Just to make life confusing I hybridise the two - I use scoobys at lightly active (am a livestock farmer), and plug those values into MFP - I then eat back any exercise cals for workouts I do. This means I don't have to worry if I can't get to the gym for whatever reason.

Bear in mind it takes a surplus of 3500Kal over your BMR to gain 1lb of weight - its your birthday ffs! Being unrealistic about drinking on your birthday and even feeling like you have to earn it etc will only lead to you resenting a strict regime. Its a lifestyle change and life has birthdays. You would have to drink a…

I dont go to many parties, so when I do, I don't care/log. Its only once in a while and my goal isn't to make my life miserable. As has oft been quoted, you need to consumer 3500cal over your TDEE to gain 1lb so...meh.

Its a 10 moth old, it would hardly be eating solid food.....lordy.
-
This thread is mildly ridiculous. A 10 month old would be barely weaned - I guess the earliest you take them off the breast is 6 mos, my daughter was weaned at almost exactly 12mos. Babies should be fed ad-lib, thats why they cry. It is, what we would call in farming a 'good do-er' nothing more.

Surely not?

You haven't quite got the measure of "Men's Health" have you? 1. Buy an expensive bag (sponsored by people who make expensive bags) 2. Cashmere jumpers are soft, maybe you should buy one? 3. Buy an expensive watch says woman who sells watches. 4. "Image consultant" says buy pointless small items that coordinate with your…

Everyone has got a bit too drunk once in a while - its no biggie. The drink driving, as others have said is a issue. Also: "Breastraunts"

Squirrels taste pretty good, actually - they are just a ***** to skin, and each one will only feed one person. I believe they are eaten in the south of the USA. I'm British - we don't have raccoons.

I have been poor at times, and I come from a family where my father grew up very poor - although I am rural. Growing stuff is *always* cheaper. Fertiliser is **** and if you ask about enough you are bound to find a stables willing to let you turn up and carry off as much as you can bag - I used to get a cattle farming…
