Thanks guys, reassuring answers. I do need the odd treat (especially in the evenings as my husband works away a lot and I have two small children) so it's good to know I can have the odd splurge as long as it's within my limits.

I've just changed it to 1/2 pound per week. I don't mind the slower weight loss as long as this means i'll lose steadily and keep it off. I've now got 1590 cals per day. Seems like a lot after 1200!

Ah okay that makes sense. So MFP factors in my running up and down the stairs 20 times a day (potty training my toddler!) and general movement while looking after the kids, but the other ones don't?
