  • I read an article about how shampoo's mess up the natural pH of your scalp. The science in the article made sense. So, I stopped shampoo'ing. For the first 6 months, I had some TERRIBLE hair days (made bad hair days look like a walk in the park). When I originally stopped shampooing, I would use a baking soda/water scrub…
  • High tight ponytail for me. Once I start sweating, I use the sweat to slick back the strays. Headbands kept slipping off (I have long, straight hair -- little kid fine texture, just lots of it).
  • I know this sounds weird, but I haven't shampoo'd my hair in over 3 yrs. So, after the gym, I hop in the shower and do a scalp massage under running water.
  • One day going over won't kill you. Just don't make it every day. Time to get back on track today.
  • I have a bad case of scale withdrawal right now. I injured my leg around 3 weeks ago, and it's affected my balance. In other words, I keep physically falling off the scale. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since I've weighed in, but I'm not worried. I was able to pull off my jeans today without unbuttoning or unzipping them. So,…
  • Add sodium to your tracker. WHAT you're eating could be shooting you in the foot. Water retention can be monstrous! As a rebuttal to the HRM vs MFP calories burned discussion: Used the stationary bike at the gym last night for 30 minutes going at a nice pace (about 12-14 mph). The reading on the bike's display (without my…
  • Here's my advice. First, add sodium to your nutrition counter. You're eating MASSIVE quantities and not even realizing it. Increase your water intake -- MINIMUM 8 - 8 oz glasses per day... especially to flush out all that sodium you've been eating. Stop skipping meals. It won't save you any calories in the long run, since…
  • At $30-$60 per ring, I'm waiting. In fact, I don't wear my wedding ring set anymore, since I was afraid of losing both my anniversary band and my wedding band.
  • You're still off. Do the math. 1 ft = 12 inches... 6 ft = 72 inches. Therefore, by your measurements, 71.5" = 5'11.5". By the doctor's measurements, 70.75" = 5'10.75". I'd average the two measurements... call it 5'11.25". Still about 2 inches short of 6'1". This affects your caloric intake allowances, so try to get the…
  • 4" = 10.16 cm difference. Not easily mistaken.
  • I can understand scales giving different readings (mine is about 14 lbs diff than my doctor's), but how could you mistake 4 inches in height? I'm 5'9" and the only time I'm near 6'1" in height is when I'm wearing 3-4" stacked high heels.
  • I'm so boring. I eat the same thing for lunch every day. <lol> However, packing lunch is a no-brainer, since it's always the same. The only deviation is my fruit... it depends on what's in season. Here's what's for lunch: 150 g roast turkey breast (5 oz) 1 whole peeled cucumber (med-large) 85 g mini carrots raw (3 oz) 85 g…

  • Get a decongestant from your doctor (even an over-the-counter dose will work), and take it around 30 mins before your flight. You don't want the pressure in your ears and sinuses to build up. It's what I do when I have to fly for business when I have a head cold. Be sure to drink LOTS of water during the flight. NO ALCOHOL!
  • I love the style of pair #1, however, due to the nude color of pair #2, they make your legs seem 3 miles long. Go with pair #2.
  • Believe it or not, do MORE stairs. Just as you condition and train yourself to work out on the elliptical, bike and treadmill, you have to condition your muscles to do stairs. Going up stairs uses a different group of muscles. You don't have to do stairs quickly, just do more... and when you think you're just gonna die,…

  • Chest hair is nice, as long as it's not massive amounts (think Sasquatch). Shaved chests are kind of icky.

  • You know, if you measure out a half serving, enter it in your diary, and then eat it slooooowly, you won't feel deprived or be inclined to binge in the future.
  • Donuts..... sigh. 7 months so far without a donut.

  • I don't concentrate on the time spent OR the calories burned. Instead I concentrate on completing the scheduled workout routine for the day . Normally, it's 30-45 mins of cardio, followed by either legs workout, back and biceps or chest and triceps. Right now I'm recuperating from an injury, so my workout is a little up in…
  • Most gyms offer a 7 day or 14 day free trial. Why not try it out before committing.
  • I tend to say nay, but that's my opinion. If they found some way to remove the fat, they normally had to inject soooo many chemicals into the item that I no longer consider it actual food.
  • Absolutely! You can warm it up in the microwave or in the oven -- or eat it cold. I buy rotisserie turkey breasts at the supermarket every Sunday, carve them up and then take turkey for lunch every day. Much healthy yumm, and easy to prepare.
  • Take a pic, and then ebay them. You've done great!!
  • I have an ipod shuffle with a waterproof case. It clips onto my swimming goggles and has waterproof ear buds. However, it's a couple of years old.
  • ROFLMAO!!! That was great! Sounds like me when I go out with my hubby. I steal his water, and end up with 3 or 4 glasses in front of me.
  • I buy the same things every week, so shopping is easy. Here's my weekly list: Rotisserie turkey breast, Puffins cereal, carrots, sugar snap peas, cucumbers, broccoli, watermelon, mango and cherries (if they look good). I take most of these items with me to work for lunches and snacks.
  • Yup. It definitely lessens the severity of cramps. As to what exercises, any and all... just don't be wimpy about the intensity you're putting into the exercise. I find that the more effort I put into the exercise, the less severity of the cramps.
  • The sooner strength training is added to your workout, the better. Strength training is what will really boost your metabolism.
  • Just tell them, "Yes, I look great now, and I want to STAY looking great!" That should stop them.

  • I have this problem too. I try to add a dash of olive oil whenever I'm cooking a protein. It makes steak and chicken taste yummy, AND helps my digestion. Stay away from laxatives.... they won't help in the long run.
