  • It might be WHAT you're eating (or more importantly, what you're not). Unlock your diary, and people will be able to give you helpful advice on how to keep the hunger curbed.

  • As you said, you eat WAY too much processed food. Your sodium counts are anywhere from 1000-4000 over the daily MAXIMUM allowance of 2500. Get off the processed food. Try some fruits and veggies instead. They're better for you. ADDITION: I just read through your entire diary. I have a hard time believing that after lap…
  • Good. Many essential nutrients in dairy. Just eat it in moderation.
  • Go to the doctor and get checked out ASAP. I have the opposite problem. Mine never gets high. My resting heartrate is about 42, and it absolutely peaked last week at 140 (while biking up very steep inclines); but my average heavy work-out heartrate is 125-128. I was going in for a check-up anyway last week, and brought up…
  • Polar makes some that are water resistant down to 30 meters (so can use them for snorkelling and medium depth scuba diving). I use the Polar FT60. It's a little pricier, but I had some problems with the FT7. Check out the Polar website: www.polarusa.com. I'm sure that Timex makes a water resistant HRM, but I'm just not as…
  • I'm on 1600 cals per day, and I don't bother eating back my exercise calories. However, if I go over a smidge (100 cals or so) and I've exercised, I don't sweat it. I try to get as close as possible to the 1600 cals per day though... I don't even think about trying to do 1200'ish. Now about the cals that MFP tells you that…
  • In 3-4 weeks, they're all going to tell you that you look great. There's something weird about weight loss. Your body has to "settle" into it's new, improved configuration. But in the meantime, you look a little out of kilter, hence the anoerexic comments. At nearly 100 lbs down now (with 130 to go), people keep asking me…
  • Fitting into the next smaller size of jeans. That keeps me going.
  • I see a LOT of flour based products (biscuits, tortillas, crackers, bread), and potatoes, and almost NO green veggies -- just an occasional tomato. I wouldn't reduce the fruit, but eat some NON-starchy vegetables (corn and potatoes -- not so good.... broccoli, green beans, spinach, etc -- GOOD). You also seem to be…
  • Done it, and it's pretty good.
  • That doctor is a total QUACK!! First off, to harrass you to tears is just WRONG! Next to tell you that having cereal is okay before having bloodwork done is incorrect. In order to get fairly accurate results, it has to be a FASTING bloodwork (your right in your thoughts on that one). I just had mine done on my yearly…
  • Just keep going. It takes some time. I find that I go down a size every 25-30 lbs.
  • It's kind of normal. I went through it too. Here's what I did to break the pattern. Instead of eating when I was hungry, I ate by the clock. Breakfast time is between 9:30 - 10 a.m. (can't do food first thing in the morning) Lunch time is between 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. Mid afternoon snack (pre gym boost) 4:00 p.m. Dinner time…
  • I can't afford this!!! $960?? OMG!
  • I attend yoga classes all the time. I started when I was about 350'ish. My only problem is when I use the wrong mat, and my feet stick to it. Makes changing positions extremely difficult.
  • Whenever i just HAVE to have some ice cream, I measure it out and get a small spoon. Then I eat it sloooowly. No deprivation, just portion control. And be sure to add it to your food diary.
  • Don't forget to drink LOTS of water.... keep that healthy skin hydrated!!.
  • It all depends on where your heart rate was, but it definitely sounds like a possible number. Even when I'm just street biking, I average 8-10 cals per minute, and I have a freakishly low peak heart rate.
  • Some people need snacks, some don't. If you need a snack, have one. Just record everything you eat in your food diary and try to stay within your daily caloric goals. Some of my fav snacks are fruit, an occasional granola bar, and beef jerky (especially before heading to the gym). P.S. Boyfriend is NOT correct about no…
  • My cool-down is the 3 mile bicycle ride home from the gym.
  • Throw out the book. It sucks. Measure and weigh your food, eat balanced meals, log your cals, work out. You'll be happier and will able to sustain a new eating lifestyle. All of the diet books are long-term unsustainable, which is why people gain it all back.
  • Looks like a typo to me. I'd guess that you're right, and it was supopsed to be 520 for the serving. When in doubt, don't eat it. Make another choice.
  • Too many calories turn into fat. That's it. It's very simple. Everything else is just the fad of the week.... which will be replaced with some other BS fad next week.
  • If anything, MFP should be UNDER estimating my caloric burn based on my weight (which is entered in the elliptical machine and my HRM). I'm not a small person (yet). Most workout machines readings are based on an average user weight of 150 lbs.... I'm almost twice that. And MFP has my weight entered, I update it every…
  • Don't get me wrong... I absolutely ADORE this site. I recommend it to everyone that asks me how I'm losing weight (recommended it to someone just last night at the gym). It's a SUPERB tool. It just has one grossly inaccurate aspect.... the calories burned entries. I have a heart rate monitor, that I use religiously... even…
  • Try eating vegetables. They fill you up and keep you sated. You have a lot of processed food (and a LOT of bread) in your diary, and no veggies or fruits.
  • You must be eating almost NO vegetables, because the only 5 cal veggies that I can think of are mushrooms and celery. 3 oz (1 serving) of carrots, about 70 cals. 1 serving of broccoli is about 50 cals. Those 50 -70 cals here and there add up to a LOT of calories every day.
  • I don't log my green tea sweatened with stevia.
  • Keep your processed carbs down (white flour products such as pasta, bread, etc). Keep eating whole grain carbs (whole grain pasta, multi-grain bread, etc), and enjoy your fruits and veggies. The no-carb hype is another diet fad. Everything in moderation wins in the end.

  • Are you crazy??? Anything sweet and sour is battered and then deep fried. Then topped with a VERY high sugar sauce.
