  • This! I make sure that I eat healthy nutritious foods all day but as long as it fits in my calories, I allow myself one treat a day. I mean, you can have 3 oreos for 160 calories. If I cut out everything that I love that isn't necessarily 'good for you' I would've quit soon after I started.
  • Once a month for me! Even though I know that weight fluctuates daily, I get discouraged and sabotage myself if I don't see a loss every week. So I weigh once a month and it's worked well for me. This (3 months) is the longest I have maintained a diet/healthy lifestyle in years. I'm convinced it is because I don't allow…
  • My son! I was raised eating garbage but was so active it didn't make me overweight. Then the real world hit and I got old(er) and gained 40lbs. I'd rather teach my kids how to eat right and stay healthy so they don't struggle more later on. Plus, you feel SO much better when you aren't eating junk and you are exercising!
  • I'm just shy of 5ft. My absolute favorite lunch/dinner is a chicken and cheese quesadilla. I get two small tortilla shells with 3 oz of chicken breast and a serving (1/4 cup) of shredded cheese. 300 calories! Add veggies and you're still below 350!
  • I don't want anyone to misunderstand. I am not doing this for them, I'm doing it for me. They wouldn't even know about my diet if it wasn't for my youngest sister visiting and observing my exercise/diet. At my height, almost any weight loss (especially 20lbs) is noticed. My family will bring it up (publicly) if they…
  • I use Mio and Crystal Lite like it's going out of style. If I don't, I just won't end up drinking enough water. After I exercise, I drink straight water because I'm so thirsty that I don't care that it's plain water. Definitely worth the $$$ IMHO.
  • Yes and No. I have a decent system set up for myself but I realize it wouldn't work perfectly for you. You could tweak it based on your height/weight. Because I am just shy of 5ft and I weigh less than 150lbs, I am one of those few people who is actually able to live off of 1200 calories a day when dieting. Depending on…
  • 300 calories is my average lunch amount. But i'm only 5ft so I don't need as many calories as other people. Here are my 2 go to lunches: 2 slices of low fat honey wheat bread (80 cals) 3oz of sliced avocado (170 cals) 4 slices of tomato (20 cals) Flavor with lime juice and salt (5 cals) OR 2 small tortillas (90 cals) 3oz…
  • I am not an all out slim fast hater...But, here's my experience with it: My husband is a Pastor and we are both at church crazy early on Sunday mornings until early afternoon. Neither of us wanted to get up any earlier than we already do to cook breakfast and since you can drink slimfast on the go, we bought them for…
  • I was not obese when I got pregnant. I was about 20-30 pounds overweight. I was so sick during my entire pregnancy that when my son was born, I weighed 17lbs less than the day I found out I got pregnant. I slowly lost weight (though not intentionally) during my pregnancy and while my doctor wasn't happy about the loss, she…
  • Hi:) I'm Rachel. 28 years old. I've always wanted to be a runner but just began running in May. My first 'unofficial' 5k was 40 minutes. I've worked hard and today, I cut 4 minutes off my time. Right now I try to run 3-4 miles 3+ times a week. I run my first official 5k on Saturday and my first 10k in December. I'm working…
  • Runlilyrun, Exactly! I couldn't agree more. If that had never happened to my sister, I probably wouldn't carry at all. However she was in a nicer neighborhood than I live in. Bad people are everywhere. Personal tragedies have a way of altering perspective:/
  • You are a fool. I never once forced my opinion, I asked other like minded runners how they carry. And I would never want to shoot someone. Maybe if you had a sister who was raped when she was alone and know it could've been prevented with a weapon, you'd think differently. But luckily, I don't need your opinion or your…
  • This! Thanks:)
  • You mad bro? You must've missed the part where I didn't ask for your opinion on gun control. I specifically said I wasn't trying to start a debate. I just wanted the opinions of people who already carry while running.
  • Yes! Thank you so much!!
  • Why ask here? Um, because people here run! I already tried gun forums (it was the first place I went) and there was very little information from people who actually run. Besides, there are a plethora of people on here from every walk of life imaginable so why wouldn't I want the input of someone who already carries while…
  • I have no issue with the average persons on the street carrying a pistol. I have issue with the criminal with a pistol. ;) Thanks so much for all of the responses. While I prefer revolvers personally, the kel tec pf9 is a very very compact gun and perfect for someone as little as I am...if I can find the right holster! I'm…
  • Thanks everyone for the responses. I am very well trained with a weapon as I've been shooting since elementary school. I would be carrying a kel-tec pf 9. I don't believe anywhere is totally safe so while I live in a nicer neighborhood, anything can happen anywhere. Most running holsters I've found are from online sites…
  • I have no idea if the idea is valid, that is just what my doctor told me right before surgery. I couldn't eat hardly anything (for about a year) before the removal (no fats, no dairy, etc). I've thought that maybe since I was restricted so badly for so long, I overate after the surgery because I could without all the pain.
  • I hear you! After I had my son, I dropped the baby weight + an additional 15lbs and felt great. Then I had gall bladder surgery and gained 20lbs in NO time at all:( My doctor told me that when the gallbladder is removed, it makes your metabolism a little slower so that might be why you gained quickly. Good luck!
  • Woot! Good for you!
  • When I worked outside the home, I was huge on salads. I would take salad and chicken fingers (I make my own once a week with chicken breast) and some light dressing. My husband takes turkey sandwiches on wheat with an apple and a yogurt. I am also a big fan of the overnight oats. Fills me up! I would stay away from those…
  • I may be off here but from my research, depending on your starting size, you will lose anywhere from 3-8 pounds of water weight. After that the majority of it should be fat loss if you are maintaining/building muscle.
  • I would have to disagree with the idea that if you're skinny, then your big boobs are silicone! I weighed 113 in High school and had DDs!
  • I was always called cute and thought it actually meant cute. Then in college I was told that when the guys called me "cute" it actually meant "chubby" ;(. Also, "Stout" "Thick" "Built sturdier than other girls." I'm just shy of 5 feet and was at 169 pounds. My ex loved it and would discourage my weight loss efforts (he was…
  • I weigh myself only once a month (as soon as my cycle is over). I used to obsess and weigh once a day but I couldn't handle it. I couldn't even handle once a week. For my peace of mind, I can only weigh once a month. A lot of people don't like this approach but I enjoy seeing big(ger) losses once a month more than smaller…
  • Hi all:) I'm just barely below 5ft. I began dieting on July 13th and only weigh in once a month. I run 3x a week and shoot archery for exercise. SW: 169 CW: 159 UGW: 117 My short term goal is to be anywhere in the 120s by Christmas....fingers crossed X!
