Right now I lift 3X a week for about an hour or so per session And 30 minute interval cardio on lifting days off. I like doing cardio on non-lifting days because it helps with any soreness.

All of my jeans that were too tight two months ago fit. Deadlifting 95 pounds on my first try.

This is what I do also. I do a 10 minute warm up on the treadmill before I lift, and cardio on non-lifting days. If I do a proper weight training session I'm too whipped to do cardio.

I used them last year when I first started getting back into fitness. I have the 4 Mile Fast DVD that is interval walking with jogging. Before I started going to the gym, I did lose some weight doing only that. If you enjoy them, they are a great way to burn some calories. I still use them some days when I'm not lifting…

This. Also when you stay up late to launder your work out clothes, because you've been to the gym so many times this week that you don't have any clean ones.

I'm so gonna try this! How may grams of protein are in a serving? And how big is one serving? Also, do they have to be square or can they be round? I really need to loose some weight so I need details!

You can add me if you like. You will see cheese and wine in my diary daily. All within calorie goals, of course.

"Surreal" to describe everyday events. Your life is not a Salvador Dali painting.

This. Don't worry about it and just concentrate on your workout. You are doing it for yourself, and no one else. Also, OP, I'll bet not everyone at your gym isn't a size 4. At my gym there are people of all sizes...and guess what? No one cares.

Good! One less birthday present to buy.

This is my totally non-scientific personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt. I have had knee problems for a while, but recently they have gotten better through lifting. Specifically, although my quads were fairly developed, my hamstrings were not and the back of my knees were not very flexible. The thing that…

These are not the droids you are looking for.

I use low fat half and half from Trader Joe's. The regular is only 20 calories for 2 tablespoons. They have a vanilla one too that is 50 calories. I like the natural creamers much more than the fake stuff. And I will never give up my coffee!
-
I do SL too. For accessories, I throw in dips and lunges.

Congrats to you both. Such an accomplishment! Laz, I envy your quads. Big time. :drinker:

Really awesome. You look fantastic! Congrats!

Oh, everything! I love their frozen fish, like tuna and salmon, bagged organic greens, nuts (so much cheaper than Whole Foods), almond milk, cheese, yogurt, coffee, uncured bacon (both turkey and regular), fresh salsa, and hummus. Also, they have great prices on wine! So much to love.

Hi. I imagine your trainer will have you doing low weights, high-reps when you first start free weights. In my experience, that's how they work with new lifters. If you'd like to do some research on your own, check out the book New Rules of Lifting for Women or the Stonglifts 5 X 5 site, where you can find information on…

You do know that there are low-carb, lowish-calorie, higher protein tortillas, right? Trader Joe's has some great ones. And you can always have a little dark chocolate on that many calories. It really isn't that bad. You can still meet your protein goals and not just eat chicken and veggies. You just need to do some…

That is an article on a weight training site with no source. Not to say is completely false, but plenty of women lift heavy and don't have any of those issues. Some people are already wary or lifting heavy, and I can tell you from experience the benefits far out weight any alleged problems. I just don't want anyone getting…

Yeah, this is kind of what I do. But I will defer to Dav, since he clearly knows more about than I do.

Which is yet another reason we need to drink. See! That's a benefit!

.03 X kg body weight. That means covert your body weight in pounds to kg then multiple by .03 I'm a moderate drinker as well, but I do log my alcohol calories. So long as you plan for it and don't eat way over your goal from getting the munchies you should be fine. I've lost 2% body fat over the past three weeks or so, and…

In. Red wine tonight. At home. So boring!

Drink green tea. Gallons of it. The weight will just fall off!
